  1. From discussion with someone else it sounds like BGT messes with the Waylaid by Enemies encounters and SCS raises the levels of ogre mages, so they both contributed. Whether this is what happened I don’t know. Other mods are all unfinished business, fixpack, tweaks, worldmap - nothing content wise.
  2. I decided to do a clean reinstall without SCS and with "Increased party movement speed outside combat". I installed Tobex explicitly this time early on, and later Tweaks Anthology. The fast movement speed outside of combat feature is working normally now. I did not select "Use BG Walking Speeds" this time however, so I am not sure exactly what was messing up the non-combat haste movement before.
  3. I was fighting (with my second level party, which has neither Sleep nor Invisibility) a Waylaid by Enemies encounter with what I thought was two ogrillons when an invisible ogre mage decloaked behind my line and proceeded to cast five Sleep spells in a row. Thanks to Viconia’s magic resistance she was able to stay awake and I eventually managed, via her sling, to lower the ogre’s morale to the point where he walked off the map. This left me with no loot and yet another expensive Raise Dead on Kagain. This was on the walk back to Nashkel from the Gnoll fortress.
  4. When an invisible ogre mage shows up adjacent to your thief and casts Sleep on the party while you are fighting ogrillons from "Waylaid by Enemies", or you are fighting inside a tiny tent in Nashkel, it's pretty hard to avoid the AOEs. This doesn't feel challenging, it just feels unfair. Some people like their games really hard, forcing lots of reloads. I'm not one of those people.
  5. I decided to go ahead and try adding "Awaken On Damage=1" to tobex.ini. Didn't work. Mage in the carnival tent slept my party and killed them one by one while asleep without them waking. Upon further investigation it appears this is an option in a different file, TobExTweak.ini, not tobex.ini. Trying it now. Edit: tweak does work, although oddly the character portrait of an awakened character keeps the "sleep" effect icon on it. Sadly I think SCS is too hard so I am going to start over without it. Can't afford all the endless Raise Deads on my evil NPCs. All I can do is window shop for magic items, can't afford to actually buy any due to spending thousands on Raise Dead over and over. Oh well. Guess I'm not the target audience for this mod.
  6. Interesting, How did it work in BG1? BG2 of course you are always at a level where Sleep doesn't affect you. Well I looked in tobex.ini.txt and see this: in tobex.ini I see this This appears to be the "90" fix not the "100" fix. How do I enable it? Add a new line for "Awaken On Damage=1" ? Will this mess up a saved game? Or WeIDU stuff that is installed? Thanks
  7. The only thing I know about Tobex is that either SCS or Tweaks Anthology installed it automatically.
  8. I am trying this mod out and getting routinely wiped out in the early part of the game by enemies (assassin at Friendly Arm Inn, Waylaid by Enemies Ogre Mage, guy in Nashkel carnival tent etc) using multiple Sleep spells or Color Sprays and taking out the entire party. Hit characters don't wake up. I don't remember the spell acting this way, but it has been awhile since I played IE games. Definitely a real challenge already. I am not able to buy any magic items because all my money is going to Raise Deads.
  9. I just ran the game for the first time and the black and white tobex window opened up and said Throne of Bhaal Extender or something so it is definitely installed. Definitely something odd about that party speeds mod.
  10. If it wasn't installed, how did the tobex files get in the folder? Last time it was definitely installed, I saw a black and white Tobex window open whenever I ran the game. But the tweak didn't work, I was permanently hasted and had no special ability to toggle it off.
  11. Interesting. The word "tobex" does not appear anywhere in the log.
  12. I can see a Tobex.dll in the folder. What installs Tobex normally? I am not installing it manually yet it is appearing. Last time I did SCS first then Anthology, this time I did Anthology and then SCS. Is this why Tobex might not have been there when I did Anthology? I guess maybe SCS installs it but Anthology does not?
  13. Ran into a lot more bugs of various kinds so I decided to cut my losses and do a clean reinstall of everything before I got much farther. Interestingly this time it said "Increased party movement speed outside combat" was being skipped because it is "not available for your game."
  14. I started a BGT game recently, using SCS and Tweaks Anthology. For some reason Jaheira shows as having only 259 XP in each class, level 1 fighter and level 1 druid, but has 32 hit points. Khalid (who is a fighter mage) has leveled up once during play, has 18 HP, and shows 2701 XP in each class. He seems normal, as has Xzar, Imoen, Montaron, and Eldoth. My 1st level PC has 1399 XP. I installed SCS first and saw a "level up from 0" mod which I installed. Then when I got to Tweaks, I saw the "TOB NPCs" and used that too for fear if I didn't the SCS one might be negated somehow. Wondering if using both is causing the weird Jaheira behavior.
  15. I reinstalled it, problem remained, so I uninstalled it. Game seems to be working normally now.
  16. Perhaps I was unclear. I expected to be Hasted outside of combat unless I turned it off, using a special ability installed by the mod, as described in the readme. But there is no special ability, so I can't turn it off. I am permanently Hasted outside of combat. If the toggle is unavailable in the un-enhanced editions then I definitely need to uninstall it.
  17. Hello, Thanks for all your work on these mods. I decided to try a BGT install (not Enhanced) after many years of not playing. The only mods I am using are the latest worldmap, and widescreen. For tweaks I installed the Sword Coast Stratagems tweaks and then the Tweaks Anthology. I chose "Use BG Walking Speeds" and "Increased party movement speed outside combat" from Tweaks. My character started in Candlekeep, Hasted. I see one special ability but it is the difficulty control for SCS. I don't see any way to un-Haste myself. Is the install bugged do you think? Edit: I tried using the option in the SCS Difficulty ability to remove the ability, in case it was blocking the un-Haste ability, but now I have no abilities. Incidentally when I have gone into combat the Haste disappears as it should, and returns after combat. I just have no way to turn it off outside of combat. Thank you
  18. Started a new game and it crashed to desktop during Gorion's battle scene. I guess it's time to uninstall BG1. By the way I noticed something earlier: the Helm of Balduran, which gives you +5 hit points, doesn't seem to do it between saves. Every time I loaded a game while wearing the Helm, I ended up injured for 5 hit points, even though I had saved while at full hit points.
  19. I tried BG1 again to kill some time and loaded up the autosave that it crashed on last time, which loaded fine, so the crash came after the save. Strangely, it no longer takes a long time to do saves. However, it crashed again while autosaving as I left one dungeon level to go to another - completely froze the computer and I had to power it off. (I thought these modern operating systems weren't supposed to be brought down by an application failure? Bah.) Maybe I will just load up my character with the juiciest items possible and export them, so next time I feel like fooling around with a new game of BG1 they can go on a solo rampage across the countryside.
  20. Thanks, I snagged Sword Coast Keeper. I edited the game very early on to give Kivan and Montaron 16 CONs (from 14 and 15) just to give them a little more survivability. Once you do Durlag's Tower you will understand why. (I had Kagain die recently in melee despite 115 hit points and a -7 AC.) The weird behavior didn't start till much later so I don't think editing their stats caused the corruption.
  21. Anyway I am going to try some Icewind Dale for a change. Been playing BG1 to death and getting frustrated by all these bugs.
  22. Possible, but unlikely. I did a full partition deletion, creation and format and system install a couple months ago. There isn't a whole lot installed on this system and nothing substantial has been uninstalled from it. I used GateKeeper early on in the game to raise the CON of some of the NPCs I wanted to use since they are almost universally wimpier than the standard NPCs, which is annoying (compare Viconia, Montaron, Shar-Teel, Kivan to Minsc, Atjantis, Imoen, Khalid, Jaheira....Dynaheir and Edwin are a wash). Can GateKeeper corrupt saved games? If so this game may have been doomed from the start.
  23. More randomness, as I tried to rest, was interrupted, killed the monsters and wouldn't let me rest again ("You may not rest at this time" despite the fact there were no monsters, spell effects etc going on). I move down the hall and "You may not save at this time." It would let me rest however. Then after some hard battles I decided to leave the level. The fireball room was turned off (no fireballs), which should never happen (although I did see that happen in a previous game, but it came back on next time I quit and loaded). When I went up the stairs it gave me the autosave screen, the bar zoomed across uncharacteristically fast, the skull's eyes lit up - and then freeze. Eventually went to Task Manager "This program is not responding." So yeah, I think my game is dead.
  24. Yes I quit and reloaded and proceeded from the same save as where it happened last time, and this time my spellcasting has so far stayed intact. Definitely random behavior going on.
  25. I think I'm going to have to give up on BG1. Now my mages can't cast spells. I am on Durlag level 3, and when they cast a spell, nothing happens. It says they cast it in the text box, but there is no effect at all. Even in an empty corridor, no enemies etc they try to cast Fireballs and Stinking Clouds and nothing happens. No casting animation either. They move their hands but there is no swirl of colors, and no effect from the spell. I don't recall ever encountering this kind of severe buggy behavior before this game. I am wondering if one of the mods I am using is causing it. This install is 5 disc BG TotSC TotSC official patch infinitycracker Baldurdash Unfinished Business G3 Tweaks pack Unlockable doors, shopkeepers I can't talk to, spells that won't cast, it goes on and on. Some of these things fix themselves if I quit and restart, others don't, or do the second or third time I restart but not the first. I've also noticed saving a game, especially Autosaves when moving to a new area, started taking a VERY long time starting in Chapter 5. I don't recall this behavior in the previous game either. I tried deleting the autosave but that didn't speed up future autosaves any. My saves are about 660 KB.
