About sings

  1. The surprise was the change in locale, not the event itself, which was great. If my PC had thought about it, she should have expected a cleric of Lathander (and Gavin in particular) to be on the lusty side, and frank about it. I thought you handled the explicit content very well--there is such a thin line between the sensual and the, well, let's say the ridiculous. And everyone's tastes are different, I suppose. But I enjoyed Gavin's intimate moments very much.
  2. Picky is fine. I've versioned up for one typo, so I don't see why I wouldn't for two, and I don't think either of those were reported. Thanks! Woops. AreaType() trigger seems to have failed there, or perhaps you were in an area of the Underdark that was not flagged as a dungeon. Were you in Ust Natha, by any chance? Talks are supposed to happen in Ust Natha, but not in the rest of the Underdark. I suppose that I'll have to make up an Underdark-appropriate area for that talk. These two issues are related. You were supposed to get the conversion talk during the "you've changed" talk. Since you got the NVROL instead, you missed it. I'll fix that for the next version, ETA soonish. I'll have to make up an area, so it may take a bit, but not too long. If all I'm doing is cropping existing graphics, I can usually have an area done and tested in a couple of hours. The trick is finding a couple of hours... It won't happen today, unfortunately, since I'm in "life is crazy" mode, at the moment. Take your time! I'm curious about the alignment change since I so rarely play evil characters. And really, an evil PC who would fall for Gavin is just ripe for a change, yes? The UD part happened when the party was resting in the inn in Ust Natha. My PC had to check out the lust chambers...boy, did she get surprised. (This was through the bartender, not upstairs.)
  3. As much as I enjoyed Gavin in BG1, I'm liking him much better in BG2! Thanks for all your work and imagination, berelinde! I did find a couple of picky typos and such so far. (The first couple were in V7 and may have been fixed already. After that, I started a new game with V10.) --During the talk that begins "have you ever seen something...", there's a response "I don't know what haunts me more, the viscousness (viciousness)" --I was in a hurry to rescue Imoen, and the scene that begins when Gavin "can't concentrate" and you end up together alone in an alley happened when the party was in the Underdark. So that was a little weird. (Wow, back in Athkatla, can we stay? Please? I HATE the UD, lol.) --During the talk that begins "you've changed", when the PC says "So when will I be empress?", when Gavin responds "I don't know but keep me in mind if you need a jester" I get a No Valid Replies response. (Still worked OK though.) --I am running a NE character for my V10 run and Gavin never brought up alignment. So that seemed odd. During his proposal, "The sounds of the world receed (recede)...that too fades to a murmer (murmur)" Like I said, these are picky, except for the alignment--I was curious to see how he would try to change my PC but nothing ever happened. She didn't actually do anything particularly evil yet, just greedy, so maybe he hasn't got around to running a Detect Evil on her.
  4. Sure, put someone in the temple of Oghma. The books in Bodhi's lair point you there anyway.
  5. I did. But in my experience anyway, only a good cleric gets sent to Arval for the eyeless quest. Other classes, regardless of alignment, get sent to Helm's temple. In this game, that's what happened to my NG FMT. Also, if I play as an evil cleric, chances are real good that the whole temple of Lathander will end up hostile, LOL. So Arval will still be unavailable, unless my PC can catch him hoisting a tankard at the nearest tavern... And that might be fine. Not sure an evil PC would bother to consult him anyway.
  6. OK, Gavin's dead and my PC had promised not to raise him. So before she just breaks her promise, (luckily she's not a lawful sort, heh heh) she remembered he wanted her to talk to someone at the temple. I was thinking it was Arval but he's not there (that I can see) and neither of the ranking clerics (Sain nor Kreel) will speak to her about Gavin. So...am I looking in the wrong place (temple of Lathander), missing something or should I just go on and ignore his clearly stated wishes? Anomen, bless his little heart, says I should just let him go.

    BG2 Confused

I used the grey sky portraits in BG1 and maybe a couple of others, they worked fine there FWIW. Edit: Don't think BG1 had the huge portraits like BG2 does, maybe that confuses things? Quick update, everything's continuing good in my new game. This mod's going to be fun! How interested are you in hearing about minor typos and the like at this point? I haven't seen much yet but I could make a note of them as I see them.

    BG2 Confused

I did a fresh restore, this time with the latest fixpack, and started a new game. Now that I'm getting a better idea of when scripts are supposed to fire, I wait for them instead of rushing along as I usually do. This time, I did not talk to Lanie at the temple. Gavin went into his dialog about visitations like, I suspect, he was supposed to but didn't in my other game. Later he gave a spontaneous flirt so maybe things are going better now. The only minor glitch I've seen in this new game so far is that when I installed the alternate portrait "grey skies", again the small portrait remained the default version but the large portrait was actually the huge one, so I only see a quarter of his head, LOL.

    BG2 Confused

Take your time! One thing odd happened when Gavin was dropping off Lanie. He said his goodbyes and then my PC clicked on Lanie (to see if she had anything to say), and that started an immediate visitation. Gavin hadn't mentioned anything about visitations at that point. At the time, I wondered if that could have messed anything up... Another minor oddity: I installed the dawn skies alternate portrait, but only the large portrait installed. The small one was the default portrait. I fixed it with SK.

File sent. (I hope.) It wouldn't shock me if the problem is on my end. My last clean restore had an old version of fixpack that caused me fits. I hope I was smart enough to save a good backup after that but my remaining brain cell is uncertain...

My PC didn't say anything like that. I tried to send you the save game (unless I did something incompetent, quite possible). I'm not totally convinced my clean restore is as clean as it could be--it's been a long time since I did one. Sigh. I appreciate you taking the time to look at this. I'm really looking forward to this mod. I might try a new character/new romance to see what happens.

    BG2 Confused

I've really been stoked about playing this mod, and I just finished a BG1 playthrough with Gavin to get warmed up. Had some initial problems with persistent CTD on entering the Temple district with newly joined Gavin and had to do a clean restore. I started a new game and everything seemed to work fine. Except... Gavin doesn't flirt, even though I recognized his ring and called him love on joining. Met Miranda and Lanie, got Gavin rejoined, but he still doesn't speak to my PC. Dude, we were semi-married, right? After about 5 game days, still nothing. In one of the PID flirts, the PC can ask about their past. When she asked if he still considered them married, he said my PC asked to be released from their vows. When did that happen? Is that normal? So are we romancing or not? Before I play too much longer, I want to know: Am I impatient or did I mess up somewhere?
  13. I don't have a save game, sorry, I have the sloppy habit of saving over the same slot. I probably wouldn't have thought of checking back with the Prelate before killing the dragon except that Ajantis said something about wanting to do so when we left the dungeon.
  14. I just finished playing through with this mod, and wanted to say how much I enjoyed it. It played flawlessly on my multi-modded setup. I think it's quite a magic trick to keep Ajantis so completely in character as a serious and formal young paladin without him ending up annoying or overly priggish. Good job! Now, of course, I'll be looking forward to the TOB content at some future date. I did notice a little typo in a conversation with Keldorn, when he says "I will serve (Charname) with great joy until his quest is concluded...", but the PC is female. Also, I did the Windspear Hills at a low level and was unable to kill Firkraag at first. But when I returned to the Radiant Heart, the Prelate rewarded me as if I had killed him, or so I assume, because when I returned later, having finally slain the wyrm, he had nothing to say. (This is a very picky minor issue--really a matter of intent. Is the reward for killing the dragon or for saving the child?)
  15. That must be it! Reinstalling will be a drag but I don't mind doing it if I know it's really going to help. Thanks, folks, for all your assistance.
