    Cannot hire Amber...

Well, i've re-installed the game and the ToB cd is being recognized again. However, i'm seeing some weird graphical errors now.. for instance items on the ground and in my inventory appear with a black border around the image. The same is true for spell effects (Irenicus' attack in the promenade). I saw this once before in a previous install attempt but i don't know what caused it or what i did to fix the problem. Additionally, my firewall seems to be freaking out when i try to start a multiplayer game, and even after choosing to allow the game access; it hangs up the game. Btw, i noticed when i installed the fixpack this time (in nice big letters) telling me what order it needed to be installed.. (d'oh!) In my defense, it *did* install it first, the first time around, but i had thought that that was the Wrong order.. which i guess actually makes me even more dense, as i had Two opportunities to read the fine print. heh. Anyway i realize the problems i'm having right now don't have anything to do with Amber, so i'll let you know what kind of luck i have with her after i get this other crap straightened out.. (though if anyone knows a quick solution, i'd be purty grateful.. maybe send me PM instead of replying here?) ***UPDATE*** Ok, so i've re-re-installed BGII/ToB and all the mods.. and everything seems to be working fine, Amber is in the party and all seems to be well in Athkatla. I still really don't know what was up with the graphical glitches.. I think it was something in the configuration (3d issue).

    Cannot hire Amber...

This issue is usually due a (faulty) script block in the baldur.bcs that prevents Amber's scrpts further down in the baldur.bcs from working. I'm not sure what mods you mean by 'custom kit' or 'custom items', so it would help if you could post you weidu.log here. You can find the file called weidu.log in you main BG2 directory and open it with any text editor. Furthermore, fixpack should be installed after the official patch, before other mods. I'm not certain what issues installing it last might cause (if any). I'm fairly sure that you issue with Amber not joining is not caused by it, though. Hi Meira, yeah sorry, i should have given a few more details, here's the weidu log file.. // Log of Currently Installed WeiDU Mods // The top of the file is the 'oldest' mod // ~TP2_File~ #language_number #component_number // [subcomponent Name -> ] Component Name [ : Version] ~SETUP-KETO.TP2~ #0 #0 // Keto-SOA NPC V2 ~SETUP-AMBER.TP2~ #0 #0 // Amber the NPC MOD for BGII:SoA: v2.5 ~SETUP-AMBER.TP2~ #0 #1 // Multiplayer-friendly flirting for Amber: v2.5 ~BG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2~ #0 #0 // BG2 Fixpack - Core Fixes: v9.01 ~BG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2~ #0 #1001 // BG2 Fixpack - Game Text Update -> GTU Classic (from Baldurdash, by Kevin Dorner): v9.01 The custom items and Kit aren't in weidu format- with the kit, i just copied previously edited 2da's into the override and add in the text strings to the .tlk with IEEP. used IEEP to install the custom weapons also. Actually, seem to be having bigger problems with BGII.. When i tried to go to Watcher's keep, the game told me that the TOB wasn't in the drive or couldn't be read- which is B.S. , I just installed the game without any problem. Just to be sure i also tried using my brother's copy of TOB and got the same result... I've been told that with windows 7 that it's not a good idea to install the game in program files (i've been noticing other problems with other games as well) I'm going to try re-installing the whole mess again in a different folder but i'm not sure what that would have to do with my cd-rom not cooperating with TOB. I hate computers sometimes.

Not sure whether to continue this thread, but i seem to be having the exact same problem.. As soon as Amber joins me she immediately tells she's tired of the stupidity and takes off. I do have a couple of mods installed along with Amber- here's my install order: 1-soa full 2-tob full 3-official tob patch 4-custom kit 5-custom items 6-Keto 7-Amber 8-fixpack (the one you recommend in this thread) I've had this combination work before with an older version of Amber, but on a different PC which had windows XP.. the one i have now has Windows 7.
