About Borealis

  1. BGT, yes, and SCS v31. I also installed tobex, BG2 fixpack, both unfinished business mods, the BG1NPC project, the BG2 banter pack and IEPbanter, and NPC flirt packs.
  2. Hello, everyone. I'm just getting back to BG after a hiatus, and I wanted to run a straightforward game with just a few mods, including this one. Well, I just ran into a slight snag: component 5900, the AI initialization component, won't install. I suppose I could live without having the improved tactical battles, but I really wanted the challenge. Here's the relevant part of my DEBUG file: ERROR locating resource for 'COPY' Resource [SPPR733.spl] not found in KEY file: [./chitin.key] Has anyone else run into this? I'm using the old CD versions, not the EE, with the games patched to 5521 and 26498, respectively.
  3. Gotcha. I didn't miss it, anyway. I've seen enough chapter changes in BG1 that I pretty much just hit 'done' right away. Absence makes the mind grow fonder, doesn't it? Or something like that. Actually, the conversation was easy to remember; I just said I'd come back with the money, and when I did, I was asked if I'd met Harold. There was no intermediate step. I don't mind keeping the money, mind you; I was hoping there would be some XP involved. I restart so many times it's a wonder I ever finished the first game. I've never gotten to Chapter 3 in this game even. I often say, 'hey, let's try such-and-such a character and see what happens when we pick up this NPC instead of that one...' And I never get anywhere. I wouldn't know Bodhi if she bit me on the neck.
  4. So far, so good. She skipped this part and went straight to, 'Have you spoken with my contact at the Shadow Thieves guild', which is the only reason I knew where I was even supposed to go. Nope, she never asked me for the money. I went straight to a store to sell stuff, got sidetracked by the poisoned guy in the alley (take him to Rylock), then headed back to Aster with the intent of paying up and going ahead with whatever she wanted me to do. And my character's not even chaotic! Yeah, that part I'm pretty comfortable with. Killing red circled thingies is a common enough occurence, so I've got a good rhythm going so far. But Nalia has demonstrated an extraordinary ability to not see or disarm traps. I might have to Shadowkeep her into a decent trapfinder. I don't know if this is an issue, but apparently I'm now in Chapter 3; the quests I've picked up since talking to Aster (who assumed I'd paid her) have been under the Chapter 3 heading. Isn't there supposed to be some sort of dream sequence or breakout or something? At least a note that I've started a new chapter?
  5. Hello, I'm playing through BG2 with a straight fighter; my party consists of me, Minsc, Jaheira, Anomen, Aerie, and Nalia. I went to speak to Aster, who informed me that her assistance would cost me 15,000 before she'd even tell me what to do. Since I was short, I went and sold some stuff, came back, and she then asked me if I'd contacted her agent near the Shadow Thieves. I didn't even know I was supposed to go to the Docks yet. So I'm not sure exactly what the quest entails yet.
  6. You shouldn't have to uninstall to move your game directory. Once moved, you will need to update the paths listed in baldur.ini and start your game with bgmain.exe, though. If your current game is Tutu and you're trying to install IR on BG2, then you can just move the BG2 directory and leave your current game alone. If you're running a BGT game, then you might need to merge some of the BG2 files from the VirtualStore directory (Google it or read this) with the ones in your Program Files folder, then drag and drop the BG2 folder somewhere outside of Program Files. As far as installing IR in the middle of your saved game, that will probably work fine. The few relocated items in stores and on creatures would not be relocated if you'd already encountered them, but IRv2 only modifies stores and creatures in BG2, so this wouldn't be an issue for you. The items themselves can be modified without any problems. In general though, you do have to be careful about what you install in the middle of a game, and especially careful about what you uninstall. Thank you! The workaround worked just fine, so I'm going to get things moving again. I take it that this mod works for Tutu as well, then?
  7. As far as I know, I am the Administrator; there's only one user on this computer, that being me. I'm trying to extract the file to a directory outside of Program Files, although I've had no trouble running the mod.exe files normally before. Right now all my Baldur's Gate stuff is loaded in Program Files. I did get an error message about the exe file in WinRar; it couldn't run it. I really hope I don't have to uninstall everything and start over in a new directory...I've got my party into Chapter 5 of BG and I'd rather not start over (Ajantis, Jaheira, Khalid, Minsc and Yeslick accompanying my half-elf mage/thief, and Ajantis just proposed to her). We're going basilisk hunting.
  8. Thanks, I didn't know about the WinRAR option. That helps a bit, since the problem is now more clear. Now perhaps someone can explain why WinRAR sees Setup.exe, but doesn't extract it. This is a new one on me. I'm using Vista on a Toshiba laptop, if that is any help whatsoever. This is the first mod I've had any problems installing.
  9. Hello, I'm a newbie on this forum who signed up specifically to ask about this. I downloaded the item revision version 2, but when I tried to install it, I get a message saying that it can't find the setup.exe file. Now sure how that happened, but I tried downloading the file three times, from two different mirrors. Anyone have a clue how this could happen?
