About kryptix

1. No answer for vampires they weren't bugged for me, but I do have an answer for charm. If you successfully dominate the character they will be uncharmed, which is where most of hexxat's uses of domination have come from in my last run.
2. I have my steam games on a separate raid array and SCS installed just fine out of the box but some of my selections seemed to jnstall the hardest version when I didn't select that etc...
3. Thanks for the fix I'll have to see if I can be bothered to try it rather than just ctrl r before fighting them now or just doing what I've been doing and using Sunray...
4. Ah from the description it seemed like 2 was harder than 1 which was why I was like where did all the enemies go when I set it... I might have to go back and try 1... Yeah I meant I survived til the balors but my shorty saves fighter Mage failed a save vs instant death after I ran out of death wards and ended it which was rather frustrating...
5. I tried this for 3-4 hours last night and kept getting to the final spawns before getting overwhelmed... I think I am trying it lower leveled than the rest of you because for some reason in my game the whole city agros when the demon kills Phaere... so I was engaging it right away with no chance to prebuff etc ( no other save except for a while back). The way I did it was by having my party go all ranged on the second platform where you go upstairs once from the Female Fighter's Guild. You expose almost the entire platform if you position your people right so you hardly ever have spawns on your own little platform. Most of the spawns will be in the upper left hand platform so I just kept tanking it and clearing out the platform with firestorms every 2-3 turns while popping ~20 wand of cloudkill charges up there. Problem is they kept on using zone of clean air. What eventually got me killed was a spam of doom and malison on my CHARNAME followed by a finger of death... Otherwise I think I might have won. I had Charname and Jaheira swap between dual wield and shield + sling/azureedge to either dps or clear out the rare spawns on my platform. I then gave up and easily beat it by setting DavidW's setting to 2. @DavidW Have you considered a medium setting for this encounter a bit harder than the 2 setting but not quite so overwhelming as the all out version? I really don't think a party right out of spellhold can possibly take the full on version but the 2 setting version was a bit too easy. I barely had to use spells and didn't have to use any HLAs, only the demons at the end required a PfMW on my fighter mage to take down...
6. One of my problems is I don't think sunfire bypasses MR any more, so I have 3 mages with it but I don't think it works, I'm going to try again tonight or tomorrow but reworking Jahiera's HLAs to give her devas rather than whirlwind and hardiness which I have yet to use in a fight yet so I find somewhat legitimate. He's also using a custom party I think... For some reason for me the whole city agros as soon as I finish the eggs and the demon and doesn't give me a chance to reenter the city like him... wow he does a ton more damage than me lol... He also has way more spells than me so I'm assuming much higher level. I guess I'll give it a few more tries then just run away and see if i can split the fight up into chunks using zone lines...
7. No, I have EE but I use some mods like Refinements etc which are incompatible with it so I play BGT. Ah alright, kryptix is also running EE, so it would most likely be something related to that, as to what more specifically, I have no idea. Happy holidays! I actually tried a bunch of things on Deirex but even spell strike was not removing his protections and I ended up winning by sending a steady stream of skeleton warriors at him while a deva tanked...
8. Does anyone have any advice on how to accomplish this? The closest I got was surviving until the demons spawn (which I think is the end of this) but even with 2 fighters improved hasted with speed weapons in the off hand I just can't kill fast enough to keep up, and if I try a choke point rather than viconia slaughtering with her sword shield thing (the weaker globe of blades), I just get overrun earlier. I'm running with Fighter/Illusionist, Jahiera, Neera, Imoen, Viconia and Hexxat. Fighter/Illusionist is running the axe from Nalia's keep with ice and acid, and MOD+2 for undead summons, off hand kundane. She has 1x Hardiness, 2x Critical Strikes, 1x Whirlwind (can't get mage HLAs yet). Jahiera is using the club that ticks 2 points of damage a turn and belm. She has energy blades, 2x GWW and 1x Implosion. Neera has timestop, wail of the banshee and 1x dragon's breath. (No wish scroll yet or I'd just be using wish rest when I need more dragon's breath). Imoen has no HLAs yet, but does have horrid wilting. Viconia has Fallen Deva and Energy Blades. (She also has like -13 AC unbuffed so I've been using her with blade barrier to tank and do a lot of the damage, along with her fallen deva's globe of blades). Hexxat has UAI, 2x spike trap, 1x exploding trap and 1x assassination. Carosmyr, Celestial Fury and Scarlet Ninja-to. One problem is that Hexxat keeps dying and can't be ressed (I have 2 charged up rods of ressurection). Also the mod doesn't allow in combat trap setting so her traps are useless. I have a potion bag full of goodies plus more and every spell accessible up until this point on all three mages. I'm willing to keeper a bit to reassign HLAs if it will make a big difference since I haven't had any fights where I relied on any HLA to win so far, Fallen Deva helped a lot on Deirex though, and does wonders in this fight too. I don't have the item tweaks installed so I do have Helm of Vhaillor, Cloak of Mirroring and Robe of Vecna. Also if anyone knows any Wizard/Druid/Cleric spells that would do good AOE damage to drow (I hate their magic resistance), I would love to hear it since Dragon's Breath seems to be the only reliable one. I guess I'd also be willing to drop the difficulty from Insane to Core for this but towards the end it was the massive amount of mages that got to me, because by that point I had very little spell defenses left and they eventually landed a bunch of chaos/charm on me.
9. I am running BGII:EE with only SCS and David's multistronghold components. Good thing PfMW is so short and that magic damage goes through Stone Skin to interrupt... Also, a couple of sunrays does wonders vs liches, I've been just running in with invis with 2 characters and blasting them.
10.
I'm pretty sure Ascension doesn't work with EE so if your playing EE those sound like the precise places they were saying it would break...

11. Actually I find that I generally have my improve hasted 10 attack guys going after the unprotected fighters for 1-2 rounds first while my mages are taking down spell protections. I find this helps a lot more than going straight for their mages because I don't like to prebuffs PFMW in case it wears out before my mages get targeted. However, a good melee can take down all of a mage's stone skins in basically one round so it's a balance. A fighter will go down to two hasted fighters hitting him for a round though so it works out. Then again it partially works simply because I'm using a F/I and jaheira as my front line. I think part of the issue is that melee are the real glass cannons of this game while mages are the actual tanks who don't go down. Therefore it's easier to just kill the melees first to avoid damage... Especially playing on insane where a random encounter rogue can backstab you for 100+.
12. Just tested on a random lich from a pack spawn, breach did not remove anything after hitting it with whip, ruby ray, 2x pierce magic and secret word. Enough defenses did to down for me to melee interrupt it and kill it with a Sunray though, good thing because I ran into it when I was out of spell immunities and imp haste...
13. I somewhat suspect this is bugged too after doing kangaxx and twisted rune in ch2... I had absolutely no chance without temporarily recruiting keldorn for his cheese dispell + carosmyr. With keldorn though it was trivially easy to kill kangaxx because I timed two sunrays to kill the lich then improved haste to beat down the Demi lich with carosmyr hammer +4 v giantkind and sling of eversed. Twisted rune I couldn't beat without cheesing shandalar with 4 traps though.
14. Just wanted to note that this works great on bg2ee and I like it much better than the tweaks version because I like to only give each character the ones that make sense, ie fighter and Mage for FM or cleric ranger and maybe Druid for RC, and this is flexible enough for that.
15. I find "insane" difficutly just as imbalanced as "easy". I hate double standards.. Imo, the best "easy" start for SCS is - Waukeen's Promenade, Slums, Copper Corronet/free slaves (get Lirarcor if you can), Goverment District, talk to Delon to get his village on the map, City Gates, Umar Hills - get Ilbratha and do the little quests there, travel to Temple District and steal necklace from Talos, go to Docks, finish thieves' quests by killing Edwin. That way you get a lot of loot, maybe 2 levels, and a bunch of gold. In addition, you avoid "being ambushed" scenarios and get to pick up NPC's you want before the real battles start (Suna Seni and similar). Mage is a lot better than a thief. Always. More mages spamming ADHW, the better. Thieves are nice for RP and trap setting, but otherwise a mage is much more powerful. Drop the vampire chick. Neera is a Wild mage, which is the most powerful kit in the game anyway. With her, you don't even need a second mage. No. I played 5 once...and only regretted that things got too easy and they needed a lot of micromanagement, which was unbearable. Imo, levels 12-13 are ok for going to Spellhold. You won't miss anything. I went around last night and got Daystar (This was ridiculously hard to cheese at level 9-11, I actually went, temporarily picked up everyone who could raise dead, grabbed a bunch of scrolls to raise people and healing potions. Then I did rotating suicide runs to run the lich out of all of his major spells, ran in with my CHARNAME and beat him down with +3 Axe.) Actually, does the Daystar Sunray hurt liches in SCS? I got an immune when I tried it. Viconia was actually very good for suicide runs with her magic resist. I don't know if DavidW will want to change the encounter more, but what I was able to do was raise my suicide runner upstairs wait for things to fade then I would basically periodically test the lich to see if he still had anti magic, when he ran out I went in with chaotic commands etc to beat him down. But year, 5th level spells and only 1 +3 weapon and I got him down after almost an hour! Also got Hexxat and finally beat the random encounter, it was pretty ridiculously easy when i decided I'd burn a few invis potions. (Trying to cast invis would get it dispelled before people got out of range of the dispell...) Just ran away and threw up a few webs and cloudkills and fireballs. I've come to realize that on insane, I get hit insanely hard but the enemies still have pretty weak HP for the most part so I can deal by just trying to never get hit I guess.. Hard to play when I don't have spells up though.
