  1. First of all, did you continued from some of your old saves or did you start new game? Secondly, do you still have crashes in in Nashkel after removing Aurora? Thirdly your install order indeed leaves much to be desired, your best option is to download this comprehensive guide and use it as a reference for any mod you wish to  install: http://www.shsforums.net/files/file/534-big-world-english/

I mean as far as I know Dark Side of the Sword Coast (mod for BG1) must be installed after World map. So does Check the Bodies and a few others. Those are big mods that needs to be installed almost at the beginning to work. Some of the mods requires worldmap to be installed earlier as well. Which means that I cannot really install the Worldmap so high up on the list.

Hmm, "scratch" you got there three mods that use worldmap which are installed after it, Shadows over Soubar, Check the bodies and Stone of Askavar. Now, as far as I remember you can extract Worldmap mod before installation of big quest mods which use it but you should ALWAYS install it after them. "Shrugs" well maybe that was changed and it is not my intention to confuse you and you can play whichever way works best for you. Best of luck with your BGT install and I wish you no problems with it.

  3. You are welcome but on the second ( more careful ) glance on your install order in your weidu I noticed that you installed world map very early. You should change that ASAP and install it after all big quest mods which use it, ideally close to the end of installation.

You think that causes the  crash?

I'm pretty sure, if you uninstall it and use your old save before Nashkel you should be safe. You could also go to Larswood right away, if you get crash there too ( something is wrong with deep gnome animations ) you could be 100% sure that it is Aurora.

While this was definitely interesting, and one of the moments that you play Ironman for, I'm reasonably sure that's not exactly intended behaviour.

Always a pleasure discovering feats of fellow Ironman but to answer your query I'm afraid it is. From the SCS readme, spoilers section:

The confrontation with Kaishas. Kaishas becomes a greater werewolf, with Free Action and immunity to all weapons except cold iron. (This seems to have been intended in BG1 but not properly implemented). She will also call for help from the tunnels: reinforcements will arrive at a rate of about one werewolf per round.

It could be more sensibly implemented if you ask me but that is MHO.

I've noticed that many of the SoD audio are in 48 kHz, so it could be that your soundcard's settings need to have 48 kHz output enabled (many of them are limited to 44.1 kHz by default).

Hmm, I checked it and it is already set on 24 bit, 48000 hz Studio quality. In the meantime I uninstalled SOD and game movies sound is again normal. But thanks for suggestion.

  7. On my pleasant surprise enabling Nearest neighbor scaling instead default Linear scaling  on graphic options enabled the game to run perfectly smoothly, even on highest screen resolution! If only I could now deduce why after installing SOD expansion all sound in game movies suddenly gone distorted and screechy...

Hmm, to enable the console in the EE game, here's how you do it, aka you just add a new line and write "SetPrivateProfileString('Program Options','Debug Mode','1')" without the "quote marks" to it. But that doesn't really do what you describe, I would say the logging was a ToBEx function... if my memory serves anything... but I can't be at all sure about that. Aka, it's not a feature of the game, but external function in ToBEx, which is of course not compatible with this game, and so won't do.

Ah, thank you, found about console on Baldur wiki in the meantime but nothing on error log, only on Beamdog something about crash dump files. I think that you can enable messages on error log in old BG2 even without TOBEX, I can't believe this was omitted out of EE. Well, I'm off to install SOD and see what is hassle with this DLCmerger and EEex. Thanks for your help Jarno and if you remember some more useful tips in the meantime please enlighten me.

Now, you should remember that even if you don't fufill the minimum requirements on Steam, it doesn't mean you are completely doomed, as those requirements are more along the line of the pirate code in Pirates of the Caribbean, so they are more like a suggestion. But it should inform you to do a few things. Do not start the game with any Graphical user interface under your main game inteface, those are for example Steam. You don't need to start Steam to start the game, as you can start the game from the games install folder's Baldur.exe -file. And the easiest way is to make a desktop shortcut from it/to it. And as this is a "demanding" game by the machines speckts, you should consider disabling Antivirus etc programs during gameplay, and maybe even the internet to not get a bad effects from that. And if you have any other programs running in the background you don't really need, just get rid of them(this is the most significant thing you can do to uplift your performance).

Thank you for tips Jarno but I already did all that ( including the shutting of internet) even before my first message. Ah, well, I guess I should just buy ( or upgrade existing ) hardver which I delayed as I'm not exactly gamer and this old peace of junk suited me just fine for my needs. But do you have same advice on this little thing that worries me:

I just want to know if there is need to modify lua file to give reports about possible crashing messages, the way I can modify old baldur.ini with Logging = 1?

Oh and here is my lua file in case if it is any help, I forgot to post it earlier:

Erhm, this is the reason it won't likely run well, not the 2GB's of RAM, that's x2 , as Steam says:

AMD Se... being a single core processor, at least according to amazon.

Uff, ??? I totally forgot about that, thank you Jarno, I'm afraid you are right. Still, before I hang white flag I will try it, I just want to know if there is need to modify lua file to give reports about possible crashing messages, the way I can modify old baldur.ini with Logging = 1?

Hmm, no biffing. Well, at least no one has come up and said it helps, or hurts(except the space required... so, the point is defeated by these twp facts).

What kind of setup do you run the game with(aka what kind of computer do you have) ? And you are running the game with default frames per seconds ? Like for example, copy the content of the Baldur.lua file to a spoiler tags.

The EE has the EEex ... but that's a beast for mod makers at this point that is not really used to it's full potential by anything I have seen.

And you know the DLCmerger that you need before you install mods to the BG1EE+SoD...

Hardver is pretty much outdated ( or antiquated more precisely ). Windows 7, Service pack 1, 64 bit. AMD Sempron 145 procesor 2.80 GHz but with only 2GB of RAM ( I'm afraid this is the main reason for slow performance along with my outdated graphic card which is NVIDIA GeForce 7025 / NVIDIA nForce 630a). Still according to minimal system requirements it should run just OK. I'm not afraid of challenge and would gladly give it a  try even with tedious screen resolution changing before playing but I mostly fear possible lagging and slowing after adding 20 or so mods. So as I said I would be thankful for every piece of valuable advice. Oh, and thanks for your tip Doc. I think that my old hardver and integrated graphic card aren't enough to play even relatively undemanding 3d game like BG EE

  12. Well, after much time, effort and I dare say love poured in my TUTU install I reluctantly switched today on EE. TUTU run peachy until 65 or so days ingame and then suddenly started crushing out of blue without any indications in baldur.err or Tobex log files. But when I installed EE I noticed that game is unbearably slow. Main problem is crawling of my CHARNAME which is fast as elderly turtle with the gout. I tried finding solution on net, changed graphic options on alternate rendering ( which causes crashes on starting the game until reverted on lua file ), nothing helps. Until I changed my screen resolution to lowest ( 800:600). It seems that allowed game to run normally but the graphic on that setting is so bad compared to original with 1pp installed that it completely defeats any joy in playing. I would appreciated some tips if possible on how to make it run more smoothly. I would also like to know if there will be need for biffing like in BGT after heavy modding ( and most importantly if biffing actually even work on EE, I think not ) and some links with EE list of compatible mods please.

  13. Sadly I badly miscalculated when I installed Aurora 5.1 WEIDU patch. Again I got freezing when I tried to enter Goblin cave. Area test showed that Worg, Goblin chief and shaman animations cause CDT's. Changing animations to BG worg, goblin axe and orc shaman seems to work. It seems that this mod is one giant minefield. I'm curios though why nobody didn't have problems with this mod in BGT? IA maybe patch things as I wrote before...

  14. Just one more observation from me, probably number and frequency of the dialogues depend on chapter and party composition. Until I entered Nashkel dialogue was mostly limited on old BG1 occasionally insults between Harper and Zhentarim duo but now dam finally gave way. With replacement of Xzar and Montaron with Branwen and Flara ( from Glam NPC pack) now I have interparty chat literally every five minutes on my delight.

Just a voice from the off: Is it wise to install crefixer after GB? Or does it matter at all (normal ressources are biffed as well)?

Hmm, is it wise, not sure, but it was a necessity, otherwise I had no way to enter Nashkel because of corrupted cre file.  I do remember using it before ( also after GB ) without issues.

  16. Nice idea Jarno!

afaik 1PP does not interfere with Aurora and its content has not been modified in last version (only the way of coding it, and, to be sure, I checked every file patched  by v4.21 and 4.2.0 : there are no differences...).

I tend to agree with you, just thought that maybe 1pp automatically changed her animation but it is a bit stretched, somebody would notice this long ago. Regardless, in my last run with TUTU I didn't use 1pp, instead I experimented with   MOINESSE AVATARS and SENTRIZEAL_AA_PACK. Now I remember then was also CTD when I tried to enter Nashkel first time which I fixed with Creature Slot Fixer and afterwards everything was OK. Only other thing that I can think of is that I used Show hit points mod briefly after biffing which patches EXE like Aurora but it is also guessing. Important thing to note is that I don't use newest version of Aurora because it causes CTD when you encounter goblins and worgs from this mod. Instead this time I used Aurora v.5 together with 5.1 patch. Here is my WEIDU, maybe someone can pinpoint where problem may originate:

...so you can post an incompatibility report and others save the time?...

I'm still glad you got it sorted. Maybe it will give you a warm, fuzzy feeling of satisfacton after you slept over it? You know, like "I beat the engine!".

Thanks for kind words, you are good at lifting spirit in tired warrior ( or mage in my case). :) About compatibility, I'm not exactly sure what happened, I remember that I used Aurora in my last run on TUTU, then I had different set of issues with this mod, but not this. And then, way back on my old BWS install. Only logical explanation is that 1pp interfere with it's animations. Maybe IA is best way to use with this mod, really don't know anymore. As for beating engine, I'm afraid it will forever remain mystery to me for some cases. Like showdown with Neira today. Although she got at least four blows from party and under effect of blindness she still managed to throw Rigid thinking on my protagonist. Who then after killing her proceeded to attack static guests at Northern lights. Good thing that my Familiar managed to cause drop weapon in panic effect on my bewitched protagonist who meted blind justice only with his fists and making enemy of everyone in the inn. And then I shepherded them all to nearby buildings to avoid getting them killed by Amnish guards. And forcing previous occupants ( like Nashkel storekeeper) out. :D Oh, how I love this game ( and hate too). ;)

  19. I managed to locate and solve the problem although at considerable lost of time and nerves. Problem is " Aurora's shoes and boots " mod and it's apparent incompatibility with 1pp mod. First there was CTD when I tried to enter Nashkel. Creature Slot Fixer utility helped me with that, Karaea, svirfneblin ( deep gnome ) merchant was corrupted. Further surprise was that her cre. file didn't had any animation when I managed to enter Nashkel, just blue circle at her position when game paused. I decided to change her animation from her non existent "Svirfneblin dark noaxe" to female cleric gnome. But even before I did that I found that I couldn't no longer reload games. Searching for solution and cause I discovered that I could enter Nashkel area from last auto save but leaving that area made game freezing every time. Same thing when I killed Karaea to see if there was problem with her cre.file. Aiming to somehow save my current game and 3 levels I managed to obtain ( killing Rhialto the Marvelous in Ironman mod, level 30 mage with my 1 level party helps a lot :p) I somehow digged out that it is possible with NI. Decompressing save file and removing Karaea creature did the trick. For the end I changed her animation with NI and created her again with console with all variables unchanged. While I successfully found the cause and cure it left me with following question burning in my mind " why the hell do I waste so much time and energy on something that should be relaxing and fun pastime" ? :hm:

  20. I would really appreciate help with this before I uninstall whole thing and never again play anything Baldur's gate related. I have strange problem, one that I never encountered before, when I reload my save game ( and quick save, which are both in the same area, Nashkel shop ) game immediately freezes. If I'm real quick I can pause game quickly and in that time frame I tried anything I could think of ( changing last known game variables, dumping inventory, move to another area) but all in vain, the second I unpause it again game stop working. Error log shows nothing like Tobex text document also. Windows action center gives no detail about type of error. When I enter the same area from last auto save, save and reload everything is fine. I tried area checker ( strange thing is that when I enter it's "t-test" area game also freezes without explanation) but no luck. I desperately seek help to debug this error and see at least what the problem is.

You are welcome but just one more brief note. Banter Timing Tweak is not a mod but component of BG1NPC project mod.

Yes, thanks Greenhorn, I never played the older versions of the mod. A question, how can I set up the banter accelerator? When I installed the mod i just accepted the default values.  Can I reinstall it with no affection to my current game?

you can install banter accelerator on non EE classic versions ( TUTU, BGT), for EE games I believe that component Banter Timing Tweak has same functionality. As for reinstalling mod in your current game, that is never a good idea but you can maybe do it ( depending on number of mods installed in your game and position of mod in question in install order, general rule is the latter the mod installed, better chances for success ) without  negative  consequences but it is far from guaranteed.

  23. No, I don't think so, Rick is right, NPC's are definitely more silent now, in these newer versions. Even with banter accelerator. I remember that with this same party composition there was a stimulative number of debates in party, and now, after 5 and half days I only had maybe 2 banters. Jaheira has taken wow of silence and I only got her banter after I PID her. Maybe structure of the dialogues changed, as I do get banters after resting but if it is the case, I say that change was for the worse.
