  1. <p>I don't worry about editing ini files I just omit certain components or choose lesser difficulty when there's multiple choice...</p> <p> </p> <p>I did Nalia's keep early to keep her happy and found resilient trolls easy enough, you just need extra fire arrows and more resting to refresh your melf's spells, then focus fire. tactics spirit trolls are a different story.. tactics = reload until you discover the one tactic to beat them. never liked that mod.</p> <p> </p> <p>improved vampires are stupid, if you're trying to get your first or second 10,000gp towards rescuing imoen or a magic licence with the increased amounts in SCS by hitting windspear hills you have to kill entire corridors full of rats and bats that can't be wiped with a few fireballs and unless you grind quests in athkatla first you're going to be too low level to protect enough of your party from dire charm and level drain to fight back and without sunfire the vamps themselves are too tough to face until later levels, when tanks die in three hits you're in trouble.</p> <p> </p> <p>same with improved shade lord, it's easy enough to get through the shadow forest early but unless you have a mage with at the least secret word to get rid of his spell turning and a couple clerics high enough for at least four castings of neg plane protection to recast on a couple of front liners when they get dispelled then he's basically impossible to beat without putting the quest off until later because you can't survive his aura long enough for his protections to go down naturally</p> <p> </p> <p>maybe you're not suppose to leave the city until you have those spell slots available but when half your npcs are harassing you to get the quests done it's hard to ignore</p> <p> </p> <p>worthy mention: getting past the orog slavers encounter when leaving the city, took me many reloads and meta knowledge to arrange the party in horizontal line formation so I wasn't surrounded and creamed immediately by so many tough enemies and a mage right on top of the party</p> <div style="left: -1000px; top: 72.4px; width: 1px; height: 1px; overflow: hidden; position: absolute;"> </div> wow what did this forum do to my post?   2. there are some good improvements in the component parts of SCS v28 compared to v21, if you edit a few lines of WeiDU v28 installs fine on EasyTutu and personally I find the improvements worth the effort. I documented a few things I had to change to get it installed in the v28 release thread. .
  3. Using v28 I can't seem to get consistent results with picking proficiencies for Imoen when she joins in EasyTutu_ToB. Sometimes she levels back to 0 sometimes she doesn't. Fixed by finding %tutu_var%imoen in npc_proficiencies.tpa and changing it to %tutu_var%imoen1 Shar-Teel and Ajantis fail to destroy the faux-magical +2 longsword that npc proficiencies equips them with when they join. I'm worse at bg scripting than weidu so I'm not sure how to fix them I have a problem with summoning a genie which then turns hostile because it takes damage from it's own fireball. I am only assuming this is related to scs ai because I haven't seen it with my other mods before I updated to v28
  4. There seem to be errors in this release related to naming conventions between game versions. From the beginning the initialise component requires avaricem.cre which I think is named _varicem.cre in EasyTutu_ToB as soon as I fixed that the next component 'standardised spells' errored out looking to copy inn3351.sto when with Tutu I believe it should be trying to copy _inn3351.sto. Some other entries in that same component didn't seem correct at a glance for the same reason. I changed three or so entries calling sto0703 to _sto0703 before the component installed without a hitch. Also on my first few tries I had problems patching IPLOT01K, IPLOT04H, IPLOT04I and IPLOT04G.ITM files when installed alongside other mods, but didn't notice a problem when trying to install SCS alone. Just deleted these 0 byte files to get the mod past this point. Haven't seen this error since though, been installing many different mods and components for testing purposes lately maybe it was a conflict I didn't pick up on Install failed when I got to Smarter General AI, couldn't find resource _ZOMBISU.CRE to copy. I can't find any reference to this creature file which I assume is a summoned zombie, on the net, in these forums, or in my game files, gave up looking. After many installs finally narrowed down my weidu.log could be a conflict with BG1 summoning spells component in Tutufix but not sure where. Smarter General AI fails on my pc consistently when only these components are installed but succeeds when it is not. does anyone else have serious problems trying to type posts on this forum? it's not my keyboard I can type fine everywhere else but here I'm having a lot of trouble with selecting text, I'm unable to copy/paste. have to type extremely slowly to prevent letters dropping out of words

  6. The old, level up, save, wait, load the save & wait should cure that in couple of seconds, as the script will need the time to restart after the level up is done. Yes, the character has the 20 HP's extra intentionally, as they are reduced when the script action fires. Okay I'll give this component another try and report back
  7. Yeah I had all the Ascension components installed. I was suprised by the lack of Tamah and because Abazigal was thrown down with ease unlike any other time I have faced him in the past. Firkragg would have kicked his ass. That's weird about Imoen I've never seen that behavior before, every other time I've played Imoen had gained the power to turn into the Slayer herself upon reaching a certain level of XP and Charname had the ability to turn into the Ravager at some point. On this last play through that didn't happen. Before I've always played with Imoen in the party and I've never before had the horror of losing her without anyway to stop it when I reached the Throne of Bhaal. Perhaps the Ascension mod has changed since last time I installed it? Or is it another mod? I didn't think I had any installed that changed the end of ToB besides Ascension and the SCSII AIs Another thing I noticed is that every time I was granted Bhaappowers from the pocket plane challenges I received two uses per day instead of one that's not SCSII though Now that I've finished this run I'm going to clean out my install and reinstall a few mods to play through again to see what happens this time.
  8. I just came up against the unkillable Bodhi but when I tried the workaround deleting the finbodh.cre from override the game just stalled when Irenicus tried to summon her. Had to Alt-F4, am I missing something here? Edit: yeah I figured I needed to replace the missing finbodh.cre with another from the backup folder or something

I just got to the end of ToB and I didn't see Tamah in Abazigal's lair at all I found him to be pretty much a push over where this used to be one of the toughest fights with the Improved Abazigal, the four dragons in a row when I left the cave was a much better fight. I assume that fight was suppose to be before I killed Abazigal but I got the rope off the monk's corpse so I didn't meet the other dragons at the right time Is SCSII responsible for taking Imoen from the party in the Throne of Bhaal and turning her into the Slayer?
  10. Ah, of course, I just thought I was playing on normal because core dnd rules = normal rules to me, I am actually playing on core and that's why I'm getting chunked so much
  11. If I am playing on normal difficulty my characters should never get chunked right? Could there be a conflict with original game rules because I installed the 'prevent party members from dying' component? I assume the component is aimed at Hard difficulty levels, but since I am playing on normal I should never lose party members according to the ingame text but I am in ToB fire giant temple and the dragon keeps burning my guys to crisps
  12. I'm all up to date with the lastest versions but maybe thats the problem, I haven't had constant crashes before with these mods. I usually have more than just the five that are installed.

I've been having some bad recurring crashes over the last few days, I've tried to do everything I can think of to prevent crashing every few minutes but I am getting to think I can't attempt to play with the mods I want. If anyone could make suggestions I'd be grateful...   15. Hey - I couldn't install the new Cast Spells from Scrolls at Character Level component. Is it a problem with my item or because of another mod or something..
