I've been trying to make GemRB work on Windows 10 (Baldur's Gate 1 Classic + Baldur's Gate EE Installed) for several hours now, and after following several guides, this is what happens when I run the .exe file: black screen (Full screen) waits about a second crashes and drops out to desktop, without error sounds or the like I'm not really sure now to make it work, I've made a save game in the classic version of Baldur's Gate, and I'm not really sure what to do next. I've gone from 0.2 seconds before the crash to approximately 1.2 seconds before the crash, if that means anything. I've uploaded the GemRB.cfg file in case I'm doing any syntax errors which are causing my problems. Any help will be appreciated. As well as that, I have followed the guide linked below: GemRB.cfg
  2. Hello, I have a problem regarding the necromancer fight in the Black Pits Expansion. I apologize but I don't know were to find crash logs. I own the gog versions and I have used the mod merge tool. Oh and I've also had them both in the directory and in their own folder, led to the same results. I have one question, does EET make it so armor worn takes on the major colors of the wearer? I ask because I know there is a tweaks mod for that causes the armor to take on the color of the wearer but this was a fresh install (I hope). As for the crash, I've noticed that when fighting the necromancer, normally when he has cast stinking cloud, one of two things happen. One is that he is in the cloud, at which point I can harm him and sometimes even kill him, however it seems like a rough 50/50 that harming him in the cloud causes a crash. 100 percent of the time, his death in the cloud results in crash. Now outside the cloud, generally I can kill him without a crash, but it still occurs. Harming him has like wise caused a crash, but with a much lower occurrence. Thank you for your time and thank you immensely for continuing the development of this wonderful mod as it has made a lot of fond memories.
  3. Hello there. First of all, I'd like to thank this community for all the time spent in making this great game even more awesome. I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask for help regarding crashes, so I want you to excuse me if it's not. I just did a clean install for the second time in a week, and with clean I mean uninstall and install from steam, before unloading the mod pack with BWS. Both times I went into crashes problems, the first time I couldn't find what was doing the job but I've found what is doing the job this time: I've just picked up Jan, and whenever he tries to start talking with me for the first time after taking him the game freezes. Since my game is in Spanish, I tried to change it to English to see if it worked and it did for a part. I resumed my game and this time Jan could start talking with me, although all I could see was "Invalid XXXXX" messages. After those lines, I saved my game and went back to Spanish just to see it crashed from the start. I'm not into modding at all, save for the "install, select options in BWS avoiding red ones, play", so I'll try to do my best.   5. I noticed my unmodded game crashing during character creation when choosing a class. Clicking Fighter, Cleric, Druid, or Bard caused a crash, but clicking Wizard or Sorcerer did not. It happened in both a disc-based Baldur's Gate II installation and a GOG installation. (Not the Enhanced Edition.) I updated to Windows 10 a couple of months ago and I hadn't noticed any crashes before, even though I had run the game a few times and tested sample mod code (creating new ToB games, spawning items, that sort of thing). After trying to pin down the problem, I discovered it could be fixed by running bgmain.exe in Windows 7 compatibility mode. (Right click the file, go to Properties and the Compatibility tab, then Run this program in compatibility mode with Windows 7.) I'm posting this as a reference for anyone who might have experienced a similar problem.

    Tool Tip Crash

    A Tool Tip Crash is caused by Composite Long Bows and looking for their Tool Tip label. Ditto Harmonium Halberd. If Tool Tip Delay is raised to the maximum value, crash does not happen. Most items are not affected by this problem, so far it is only these two. It does not affect the item's information screen. (So far the party has a fairly limited inventory, so it may be caused by other items too for all I know.) Crash is immediate, there are no warning messages on the console. GemRB.log seems to give no clues either. It was not a problem in the original game. Nor is it due to a mod as far as I can tell. It affects both of: GemRB-nmake-vs10-v0.8.1-23-gcbfa777 GemRB-win32-v0.8.1-8-gf897b35 My computer uses Windows XP, SP3.
  9. Hi! I did some searching, but still couldn't find a soluton to the problem. I'm playing iwd:how on Bodhi Linux (pretty much like the latest Ubuntu, I think) with all the patches (iwd-1,06-how-1,41-ToL) and I believe I'm using the newest gemrb. I also use the Widescreen Patch, tried installing it both ways - for the original IE and for GemRB, to no difference in the following. The game crahses randomly in mid-combat, sometimes I get to kill one goblin, sometimes I don't get even this far. Trying to cast a spell (Magic Missile, in this case) seems to crash the game every time. gemrb.log shows this: I thought it was my ancient ATi videocard or the drivers. But then I tried to run the same iwd on the same machine with no gemrb from virtualbox. And it doesn't crash that way. I tried to reinstall iwd to a directory with no spaces in the address, to no result. What am I doing wrong?

  11. I have searched these forums and others high and low and I cannot seem to get my GemRB.cfg file correct.. I know that it is my CFG file since I can run the demo perfectly. However, when I try to edit the CFG and run BG2 (full) it crashes to home screen every single time. I have checked my cache file to make sure it is empty. I am using total commander to check my file extensions to be correct. I tried aLogcat but I don't really know what I'm looking for and it captures everything and I'm not quite sure how to filter out gemrb only. Here is my log, If anyone can provide me guidance I would be greatly appreciative. P.S.   13. Necromancy! http://forums.gibberlings3.net/index.php?showtopic=14021 is the first (and only relevant) result for "weidu larloch's minor drain crash" on google. I crash when casting larloch's minor drain, but only upon the spell hitting the target. The crash freezes the program, and I must end the process to continue, same as above!   14. Hi all, New to the forums, I apologise if this is in the wrong section. I've been encountering a fatal crash error in BG1 (EasyTutu) whenever Skeletons appear. I encountered Skeletons in the Mulahey battle and they immediately crashed the game as soon as they tried to attack my party (with the error being: "An Assertion failed in ChDataTypes.cpp at line number 250"). I managed to get around that issue by laying a plethora of traps down which fortunately killed them before they could respond, thereby allowing me to progress... Then I ran into another bunch of Skeletons at High Hedge and... same issue. Fatal crash with the same error. So it seems to be entirely localized around that one creature. My WeiDU log is below; I'm thoroughly stuck on this one. If anyone has any suggestions to fix this, I'd be most appreciative. I remain hopeful that perhaps copying in a file specifically related to the skeletons into the 'override' folder may resolve the issue, but I'm open to other solutions.   15. I have the fixpack version 9.01 installed and when trying to farm demon hearts for the planar sphere quest I find that my game will freeze every time they cast a certain spell. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is a pretty serious inconvienience in my game playing. Thanks in advance.
