  1. I've been having this issue since the first day I started using the Widescreen Mod and couldn't find any working solution until recently. As far as I saw the problem presents itself on certain monitors along with desktop ATI (AMD) video cards and under certain resolution combinations in Windows only. Nvidia seems to avoid this particular one (though it's got other nasty issues reported) and normally laptops are not affected as well since their video drivers usually have a scaling/aspect ratio correction settings available. Also this problem is completely different to the visually similar issue in Wine (OSX, Linux). Additionally I am currently talking about a clean IE games installs with the Widescreen Mod alongside (no ddraw fixes, windowed modes, etc.) Since I find almost no info that could help me resolve the issue I've decided to put it here for anyone who still suffers. Steps to reproduce are: 1. While installing the Widescreen Mod set resolution several steps lower than your native one. For ex. our native resolution is 1920x1080 and we config the mod for 1280x720 maintaining the aspect ratio of 16/9 (it's not necessary to maintain the aspect ratio but it's a common practice for obvious reasons). 2. Run the game in full screen mode which will be 1280x720 and you'll see the black borders around a smaller than the expected resolution image. Example: http://img585.images...5/7750/hruz.jpg Solution: 1. Go to the CCC's Advanced View 2. Under "My Digital Flat-Panels" section go to the "Properties (Digital Flat-Panel)" 3. Turn ON the "Enable GPU scaling" option under "Image Scaling": http://imageshack.us...4/4633/rtdi.png 4. Now go to the "Scaling Options (Digital-Flat Panel)" screen. 5. Check that "Scaling options" are set to "Overscan" (0%) and "Use the scaling values instead of the customized..." is turned off: http://imageshack.us...41/600/2n79.jpg 6. Apply the changes - Setting "Scaling options" to "Overscan" ~ 0% alone (as suggested by various posts found in the Web) does not resolve the issue. - If you have more than one monitor select the correct display from the drop-down menu above after steps 2 and 4. - This solution supposes that you have CCC v13.0 or later installed. Also there is a bug with CCC and ATI drivers updates. If you upgrade the drivers from v12.x (or earlier) to v13.x the new default settings will not have effect since the v13 would try to keep previous settings disregarding the new features like scaling, etc. What I mean is that just entering the listed screens and applying the already correct settings may solve the problem. Hope this helps and Regards
  2. It seems that some people have had success in installing the Widescreen mod over their Planescape: Torment 2CD installation, but I am encountering an EXE PATCHING FAILED error for my Torment.exe file, straight from the disc with the 3.07 widescreen installation. I added a line to the widescreen/libsmall/patch_exe.tpa file to output a line of information that lets us know where the failure occurred, in the write_short macro: PRINT ~at %where% expected %old% had %old_v%~ Right before the "You need to install the latest patch..." line, my installation now outputs: at 4387589 expected 640 had 960 Noticing that I had input 960 as my width, I tried running the install with 640x480 as the "new" widescreen resolution, and it patched everything successfully, but of course, the game looked no different, since it had always been running at that resolution. This also prevents me from installing the GhostDog UI mod, since it requires a width of at least 800. I can provide the original 2-CD Torment.exe file (MD5: 0d4a6e9ca8106cd76d63940029f7485e), since I know the mod author had said that he only had the 4-CD installation if that would help in troubleshooting/development.
  3. Welcome, The Widescreen Mod doesnt supports resolutions X - below 640, (i'm trying gemrb). My tablet has a native resolution of 540 x 960 - Alcatel OneTouch Easy pixi 7. Is there any way to set the native resolution or can I set higher resolution than the native? (I have no xperience with tablets) Thanks!
  4. Hello, I have recently bought a new laptop and decided to test all my older games on it. Most of them, ranging from Fallout 1,2 to Planescape Torment seem to work just fine, but not Baldur's Gate 2 - SoA/ToB. The game simply refuses to scale to my monitor I have tried almost everything, including changing my native resolution, installing the Widescreen patch and tinkering with the Intel control panel, but the game still launches in my native resolution with the game itself being in a tiny "box" in the middle of the black screen (My native resolution is 1920x1080. Game resolution is 1024x768). I did some googling and most people told me that I have to enable "fullscreen scaling" in my Intel control panel (because my integrated card handles apparently handles all the monitor stuff), but the only option there available is "preserve screen scalling". If I lower my resolution, the rest of the options show up, including the fullscreen one - but BG2 still refuses to acknowledge the "fullscreen scaling" option and keeps launching in 1920x1080. Been looking for solutions for about 2 hours now and I am becoming a bit desperate right now. Thanks in advance for any answer. EDIT: I also found out that disabling 3D acceleration makes my game finally fullscreen, but the fog of war is so ugly and pixelated and like 50% effects seem to be missing.. is there a way to keep 3D acceleration on while retaining the correct scale? :
  5. I installed the widescreen mod with a resolution of 1024 x 600. Here is the result when I launch "full screen" mode: I've tried 1024 x 576 and 960 x 540 with the same result. I also tried 1024 x 768, which curiously did fill the whole screen. I thought it might be related to this bug on WineHQ, but I have 3D acceleration turned off. I did try turning it on to see if it made any difference, and the game crashed. (See attached bug report) I have played in the game in at least one of these resolutions under Windows (1024 x 600 I think), so I know it's not a hardware compatibility issue. Also, I can set my desktop resolution to 1024 x 600, 1024 x 576 or 960 x 540 using `xrandr` from the command line. FYI here's the output of `xrandr`: Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1366 x 768, maximum 32767 x 32767 eDP1 connected primary 1366x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 344mm x 193mm panning 1366x768+0+0 1366x768 60.0*+ 1360x768 59.8 60.0 1024x768 60.0 800x600 60.3 56.2 640x480 59.9 960x540 59.6 1024x576 59.9 1024x600 59.9 VGA1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) HDMI1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) VIRTUAL1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) And here's the first part of baldur.ini: [Program Options] Installing=0 Install Type=3 BitsPerPixel=16 16Bit Textures=0 3D Acceleration=0 GLSetup Driver=-1 Font Name= Double Byte Character Support=0 Drop Capitals=1 Display Frequency=60 Resolution=1024 Maximum Frame Rate=30 Path Search Nodes=32000 Tooltips=60 Translucent Shadows=1 Sprite Mirror=0 Gamma Correction=0 Brightness Correction=0 Backwards Compatible 3d=0 Volume Movie=100 Volume Music=80 Volume Voices=100 Volume Ambients=100 Volume SFX=100 SoftSrcKeyBltFast=0 SoftBltFast=0 SoftSrcKeyBlt=0 SoftBlt=0 SoftMirrorBlt=0 Strref On=0 First Run=0 Full Screen=1 Screen Position X=65 Screen Position Y=24 backtrace.txt
  6. Icewind Dale II has become the new multiplayer game for some friends and I. As with the Infinity Engine games, the widescreen mods presented here at The Gibberlings III really help to increase playability on newer systems and monitors. I have used these mods before with Baldur's Gate I&II and Planescape: Torment to extraordinary effect, and for this I want to the the creators here! Of course, nothing's perfect, and there is an issue I've had playing multiplayer in Icewind Dale II with the widescreen mod installed. I have search for about a week now over various posts, and it seems as though no one has conclusively answered whether or not there is a fix. Here is my issue: Icewind Dale II's multiplayer must be initiated in windowed mode for all players. Otherwise, the game crashes. After it's started, the game can be put back into fullscreen mode using the either the options menu or the Alt+Enter shortcut. But it seems as though the widescreen mod forces the game to be in fullscreen at all times. After installing the mod, changing the settings in the INI file, in-game options, or by using Alt+Enter have no effect. Once the mod is installed, as far as I've been able to find out, it seems impossible to put the game in windowed mode. Because of the aforementioned multiplayer bug, this renders widescreen multiplayer impossible. How such a small bug could give me such a headache! I am hoping that someone can help answer whether or not there is a work-around. If there's not, then I will play the game as-is, but will be happy knowing that there's not something I could do to fix it. If there is, please! Let me know! Thanks a lot for the help, and for being such a great community. I have been here often, and have always been able to find what I was looking for (this issue not included). Edit: In case more information is needed, I am running IWD2 v2.01, Widescreen Mod v3.5, and Windows 7 64-bit. Another player is using Windows 7 32-bit to the same effect. I have also attempted to run the game in Windows Compatibility Mode and have also tried using shortcut parameters, such as "-window" and "-w". Edit 2: I have found that the mod only forces fullscreen if you choose a resolution equal to or higher than your monitor's native resolution. The monitor I am trying to use is designed for 1920x1080, and this is what I set the mod to. If I choose a smaller resolution, such as 1680x1050, the game will run in windowed mode. It will also work if I choose a non-standard resolution such as 1900x1060, but if will crash when put in full screen (as noted in the mod description). My second monitor's resolution is 1680x1050, and if I set the mod to run in this resolution and run the game on this display only, it will also force fullscreen. A strange thing that I discovered is that if I set the mod to run in 1680x1050 on my primary monitor (native res 1920x1080), load it up in windowed mode, and then switch my display to my 1680x1050 monitor, it will stay in windowed mode. This is the only way that I have gotten the mod to work in fullscreen, but only will work for someone with 2 monitors, 1 of which has a smaller resolution.
  7. I'd appreciate some help on this. Firstly, I know what the AR0100.wed error is for, its a location error. I can get widescreen PT working on Win7 and with wine on Ubuntu 12.04 but I no longer use Win7 and it's really slow with wine on Ub, especially as I intend on modding BG later. As it's GOG it's a patched full install with correct torment.ini. Using tolower and WeInstall I can install the fix, ub and tweak mods but not widescreen. I've used tolower to put everything in lower case on a vanilla install through playonlinux and acquired the linux.ini (which is wrong). WeInstall widescreen fails with Ar0100.wed/bif error so the paths are incorrect.
