Installation Failure

Alright, so first I installed BG and TotSC in a 6-cd set. Then I tried installing the mod, which failed:

So I looked back and realized I hadn't installed the patch, so I went looking for the latest patch (the US/English versions of both patches listed here) and tried again.

 

Same error.

 

So, I realized that I hadn't configured BG, so I did that and tried again.

 

Same error.

 

Then I read in another post that I have to watch the intro movie once first, so I did that and tried again.

 

Same error.

 

What's wrong?

Do not install both patches as you linked.

 

Only install the first patch. NOT the DX8+ patch.

 

Simply re-install the first patch (you don't need to uninstall anything) and run the WS mod again. It should work.

That was the ticket, thank you. The game finally doesn't look so insanely busy, so maybe I'll actually beat it this time.

There are thirty threads detailing the issue, as well as a post in this very one. Please read them rather than waste people's time.

Struggled with this for a bit.

 

In the end it's quite simple.

 

Whatever you do, the "BGTALESUK5512" patch must instaaled last, before you run the widescreen installer. You can patch BG first, then add totsc, then repatch it again. As long as you do it last.
