Widescreen mod installation - very specific error

Hello thar, I'm having trouble installing the WSM for planescape torment on a virtual windows xp installation running in vmware fusion inside of snow leopard.

 

I have the two disk version of PT and I copied disk 2 to my virtual HDD and pointed the ini file for the correct location, as far as I can tell. I pointed disk 1 to the my physical drive and every other disk to the copied disk 2 on my HDD.

 

When I try to install the widescreen mod I get this error:

It mentions specifically one .biff file with a bad signature and one .wed file of the same name and that's it, which seems odd since most people posting here get much more verbose errors.

 

I tried completely reinstalling the game but I keep getting the same error...I can try reinstalling outside of program files but since I'm using XP this shouldn't be a problem...plus looking at the error I'm getting I dont think it's the issue.

 

Any help would be appreciated.

You have scratched CDs or something like that.

So does the installation process stop after it encounters its first error, or it would it show me every error at once? In other words, are these two files my only corrupted files or could there be more?

 

If these are the only corrupted files...well I'm not going to buy the whole game over again just because of two files. If I found someone else with the game would they be able to send me just the files I need? Can anyone reading this send me the files assuming they're not absurdly large?

There's no quick way to see if that's the only corrupted file, I'm afraid.

 

ar0102.bif contains the .wed file, so you only need the former. I can't simply send it to you because I'm not sure that the 2cd files are identical to the 4cd ones.

Copy the files from CD2 (2 cd version) into main game directory and try again AR0100 and the rest , should work for 4 cd version scout and locate till u find the files., worked for me

I'm getting the same error, so tried this solution. I've got the 4 CD version of the game, and the AR0100 file, as you said, is on CD2. I put all the files from all the CDs into the base directory, and it did work.

 

My remaining question is, do I need to move them all back?
