  1. Does anyone know where to find the spell "on hit" animation in DLTCEP?  I have my entire spell pack mod ironed out and working aside from this last bit of polish.

I can see that in NI there is an option for this but NI is a bit more difficult to work with, and selecting an effect doesn't really give you any idea what you are choosing.  For the sake of example, Im working on an offensive fire spell.  I tried looking at other fire spells to see which effect they use and they dont seem to have an on hit effect that I can find..... Maybe because they are AOE?

DLTCEP seems easier to use as it plays you the sounds and shows you the spell icons in real time, I just cant figure out which entry shows the on hit effect (IE the animation that plays on the target when an offensive spells successfully lands on an enemy).

  2. Ok Thanks for the explanation, so if I accidentally set things to Czech on the first mod I installed, how come most of the in game things were not "Invalid"?

This is because the default game is set to English, but mods were set to Czech and I just didn't notice anything as invalid because I hadn't yet seen an item or a conversation that was added by a mod yet.

  3. I had to start a new game, but I haven't gotten to the point in the game yet where I was finding "Invalid" items.

Out of all the mods that I have, every single Installation.exe has English set to "0"..... except one.  This is the first mod that I would install in my order so I'm guessing that I accidentally set that mod to Czech and (if I am understanding this correctly) that created a weidu file that was set to Czech, so all my other installs were set to English and this caused conflicts in the in game text.

As far as what others have said, ever single mod that I install asks me for the language first, not just the first one that is run.

I think I understand what is happening now, so hopefully I wont encounter any more issues.

  4. So I go to any mods installation.  Set the language as English. Cancel installing the actual mod. THEN go to the weidu file and set it to English.  THEN go back and install the mod?

Im so confused now I dont know how to do this.  Is there a guide that gives you a step by step process on how to do all these crazy installation steps?

  5. Thank you for the help.

So I installed the game fresh and started it up.  Set the language to English, but there is no weidu file in the game directory?

I'm so confused..... is there a guide on this somehwere?  I spent hours looking through mods and never saw any directions about configuring a Weidu file.....

Can you give me an idiot explanation on the proper order of setting up my game?

  6. I just started playing IWD:EE and installed some mods that were listed as compatible/recommended.

I have noticed items that show up as "Invalid" so I cannot see its stats or anything other than its icon (screenshot attached). Upon meeting one of the custom companions and speaking with him all his dialogue options showed up as "invalid" and I couldn't interact with him as I didn't know what options to pick.

I used the recommended install order

    1) story mods
    2) NPC mods
    3) item mods
    4) kit mods
    5) BG2Tweaks
    6) other tweak/overhaul mods

I installed https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/79347/the-new-light-collective-thread-for-lavas-and-aionzs-mods/p1 the story mods from here as well as the companion and item mods.

Then I installed the tweaks from this website and picked only some of the basic options that didn't change the game much.

This is all that I installed and I am wondering if anyone knows what causes this problem, and if I need to do a clean install of the game and start over?  Will I still be able to continue with my current save file?

  7. Ok thanks for the responses.

Maybe I can download the custom character mods, then once they are in my party use the save game editor to edit their stats and appearance to how I want my party composition, but leave the rest alone so I still get their dialogue.

Would this be possible with the save game editor?  Or would I have to mod the files prior to starting a game?

  8. Yes my IWD is the EE version.

My personal preference in these types of games is having my party be comprised of 100% custom characters.  I absolutely hate "Orgin" type characters and prefer to have every single aspect of every party member designed by me from the ground up. The ability to do this in IWD is literally the only reason I chose to play this game, if this option wasnt available in IWD, I wouldnt even be interested.  I realize this removes their story aspect which sucks, but is a worthwhile trade to lose the banter and such to have a custom party.  Do the NPC mods just add new custom characters or do they add dialogue to your custom made ones?

I think Im going to avoid tweaks and rebalance mods, but I would really like a mod that adds a larger variety of items and I would also like a mod that is some kind of spell pack to make magic characters more spicy.

Like I said I have been looking at "Find it IWD" and "More style for mages" which add items, but I cant seem to find a mod that is a spell package that adds tons of new spells.

  9. Just looking for suggestions for my first playthrough of IWD.  I have thousands of hours of modding exp, just not with infinity engine games, so Im a bit confused as apparently these mods work for multiple different games.... but most seem to be centered around Baldurs gate.

I have the tweaks and the fix pack are these still necessary?

Other than that I would like to avoid making any changes to the game that are too dramatic.  I would like to perhaps use mods that add some new spells and depth to magic users, specifically clerics and mages. Also a mod to add more variety to the itemization.

Just looking for suggestions as to what should be ESSENTIAL to improve the base game experience, and possibly some suggestions for tweaks to magic users to add more variety.

    So far I have the

    -Tweaks/fix pack

-Find it IWD - added items to the game (is this good?)

    -More style for mages

    -Some added portrait mods

I am also looking at "scales of balance" should I use this?

I cant seem to find any comprehensive mods that just add tons of spells and items and all the spell mods seem to be centered around just certain classes.
