And this is where I stop because I could go on for eternity. Please read the mod readmes before you think you can just throw this together on your own.

It's not like I've stated before that the stated load order widely accepted has led to massive numbers of errors and mods not installing before. Oh wait.

But fine, I'll put together an install of your recommended order, and when it fails on multiple spots - which it will - will you be willing to help debug where the issues are?

I'm approaching something in the vein of 50 installs trying various orders and sequences over the last two weeks at this point.

Some of those states (e.g. about the astrolabe for Thalantyr) appear to be added by The Calling. I note that you installed that after EET_End. Could that be the problem?

I've reinstalled at this point and put EET_End at the end: new Weidu.log attached. It's still happening.

States that have weighting less than 11: "Hello there. Is there anything I can do for you on this fair day?"
"Is that a wyvern's head you have with you?"
Attaching Taerom.dlg as well; I've tried changing the Ankheg shell dialogue's weight to 0 and -1 with no success.

I thought that the general install order suggested by Jastey was tried and tested for megamod installs.

Just out of curiosity, did you resolve the problem discussed here and here? I got the impression that something not-quite-EE-compatible broke your install, and that EET_End flagged the problem. If so, moving EET_End may not solve the problem, just remove the error message.

The problems seem to be fixed with my load order; everything's working so far.

You have a lot of mods after EET_End that should go before. Did you play into SoA and ToB with this setup? I would expect you get problems, especially with mod NPCs and their dialogues.

Also, some tweakmods are quite early. A rough overal order for mods is Fixpack - Early Tweaks* - Questpack - NPC mods - Crossmod mods - Tweaks. For details, most mod readmes have information about compatibility.

*EndlessBG1 and Transitions are "early tweak" mods.

I've tried that order with a megamod install. It doesn't work. There's a number of mods I've run across that just don't like to install before EET_End, but install fine afterwards, so I move it up early to minimize install issues on my end.

The mod "Magic store of Vergadain" should definitely be installed before EET_end since it adds new lines to Taerom's dialog.

I'll move it up in the order.

Could be that some mod has (possibly unintentionally) affected the check for the dialogue. Do you have NearInfinity? Open the dialogue file for Taerom and see if there's any differences in the triggers with this:

Taerom.dlg isn't showing under the DLG section... hm. I'll do a reinstall with Vergadain before EET_End and see if it shows up.

Whaaat...?? Very weird. I wonder if it is some hard-coded thing because they have their spellcasting disabled in that moment...?

OTOH I'm pretty sure I tested this. So it might be something to do with your install.  Do the spells appear the next time you use the ability?  Or do you have to wait until a level-up?

Have to wait for a level-up. Like I said, it's probably my install, but the install works (aside from a thing with Taerom) so it's a small thing overall.

  6. 3 minutes ago, subtledoctor said:

I don't understand what you mean by "get their spellbook updated."

Basically, at a new spell level (1, 3, 5, 7, 9, etc), when leveling up to that level, the spellbook doesn't auto-populate with their Cleric spells (tested on an F/M/C, Ranger/Priest and a Cleric/Mage). However, if I press "Change prepared spells" before going through the level-up process, it does; and there's enough redundancy in the mod that in a multiclass, if I hit the "Change prepared spells button" before leveling up, say, Mage, it'll fill the spellbook when I go through that level-up process as well, so kudos there on the scripting.

It's likely a quirk with my install, though.

  7. Just finished tweaking a megamod install and went around testing things as I usually do, grabbed an ankheg shell with a new game, and went right to Beregost. The only problem is: Taerom doesn't seem to recognize the fact that I'm carrying ankheg shells, and won't start up the ankheg armor dialogue. Wonder if anyone can figure out where in my install that might occur, and why.

    Weidu.log is attached.

I mean, I think it's a bit more than install-order issues... if some mod is messing with TRIGGER.IDS and ruining capabilities introduced in the EE engine, it's probably worth finding out which.

(I'm also surprised that compiling a script depends on something being in an .IDS file... I thought those were just illustrative, not functional. You haven't said what version of the game you are trying to install this on. If it's not 2.5 or 2.6, that will likely cause problems.)

It's 2.6. I figured out most of my issues were related to how late in the load order stuff was; I managed to get a nice, fat megamod load order that makes everything work (you can see it and the madness here).

Question: I assume it's not intentional behavior that a Priest using 5E Spellcasting doesn't get their spellbook updated if they don't select "Change prepared spells" before leveling up, is it? Though using it before leveling any other part of a multiclass runs the script - I appreciate your redundancy there.

  9. Okay, so, I redownloaded Transitions, and attempted a new install with EndlessBG1 and Transitions high up in the load order and... same problem.

I've looked through the GitHub for Transitions, as well as downloads of various versions, and I can't find #LPCROOM.BCS in any of them. So is the file just missing from the install entirely? There's an #LPCROOM.baf, but no .bcs.

EDIT: I found an #LPCROOM.bcs in my override folder
EDIT2: Ripping #LPCROOM.bcs out of my Override folder and attempting it again allowed EET_End to go further, but then...

  10. Huh. Well, once the new FILE_EXISTS stuff went in I wound up at the same error once the SPWI975 was out of my override folder. It's definitely an install order issue at this point, think, then. Going to try putting all the kit stuff near the top of the load order this time, see if that solves issues down the line with more robust quest mods like TDD.

    The Darkest Day/TDDz would.

I say would, because it only installs SCRLX41.ITM without the spell associated with it (the spell file does exist in TDD, it just doesn't get copied to override). I know the Roxanne version did it and she should have fixed it by now after @Endarire passed my complaints at one point (and forced me to register to that cesspool of darkness because he was unable to explain it properly), but I never tested/checked if the InfinityMods version also includes the problem and/or provides a fix.

Huh. Okay. So I copied SPWI975 into my override out of the old TDD folder and wound up with this instead.

Open /faiths_and_powers/lib/default_kit_spheres.tpa and go to line 82: it should begin: "LAF fnp_spell_choice STR_VAR this_kit_clab..."

Add a double-slash " // " to the beginning of that line, and then try again to install it.

(Incidentally that is being installes very late... it should probably be installed earlier, with the rest of the FnP_Multi components, since there are no other kits installed after that. It probably will be fine, but it means component #99 "Give FnP Kits to Multiclass NPCs" will be at least partially non-functional since you didn't install most of the multiclass kits before the bit that assigns kits to NPCs. Not the end of the world, though.)

It only looks late, since I tried a couple of non-functional adjustments before undoing everything I did for a clean log. My load order in Project Infinity is all other kit mods->Faiths and Powers->5E Spellcasting->FnP_Multiclass.

Thank you for using the original versions of Iylos and Arath, much appreciated.

Yeah, I'm rejecting the EE Install Tool entirely; even if I was using the original versions as much as possible even with that (and what a pain it is to make it use different versions of the mods), I don't want any taint of Roxanne on my new install. I've been using Project Infinity and being guided by its categories, so... I guess Transitions and EndlessBG1 should go at the top of the quest category?
