Found it. (I have no recollection how this happened, and the files are from 2018.)
Hotfix: before installing Smarter Mages, go to stratagems/mage/iwd/top and delete the files 'uddrow1.baf' and ''uddrwswd.baf'.
Is there a way for me to fix this for the already installed mod?

A little quirk I spotted in IWDEE; Remove Fear is being cast as a long duration buff despite it only lasting 1 turn in that game

How is the compatibility for IWD:EE with SCS?

Apologies, I'm mixing up report threads. (The underlying issue here is caused by a library that is common between the two games.) If you can give me a link to the official current version of dragonspear UI++ and a description of exactly where the issue occurs, I'll have a look when I get a chance. (I've had some trouble working out which version of dragonspear UI++ is official - there seem to be a bunch of forks.)
I use this one, linked in the Beamdog forum's thread for the mod
https://github.com/anongit/DragonspearUI/archive/refs/heads/master.zip
Thanks if you can look into it, I was under the impression you personally wouldn't try to support the mod.
The issue is the same as described by this thread's OP, class names are followed by odd strings (and character levels are also visually incorrect). Using 35.10 SCS

...not using it? It's at present unsupported by ToF, and using them together is likely to lead to much more serious bugs than this.
It works perfectly fine with SCS, just this little issue is there. I'm not using ToF personally though I look forward to trying it sometime

Anyone happen to know how to fix this when using Dragonspear UI++?

I have the same issue with 35.8 + Dragonspear UI

Also seen this happen a few times now in BG2

The crude way is to delete sppr212.spl from the override folder, so that the game goes back to using the default version of Slow Poison. That might have some minor negative effects but probably not anything serious.
That seems to work. What kind of negative effects could it have?

the hotfix is just to set use_iwd_slow_poison=0 in stratagems.ini.
Is there any way to apply this without having to reinstall my mods?

I'm not seeing any strength bonus after casting it though my character did receive a strength status effect

Did you set Script Dialog to 0 in the ini options prior to install? Are your characters doing the prebuffing?
No I didn't, that's probably it. Yes they are

Do you have a weidu log you can post?
Yes, here you go. I must've made a mistake in the mod install order somehow, still new to modding the games.
Just noticed another thingy, Baeloth is casting haste twice for some reason when buffing

For some reason I'm not seeing the dialogue prompts for beginning/finishing buffs in BG1 while they worked as expected in BG2 for me

Ini file needs to be updated prior to installing the mod.
Excellent, thank you for the help and the mod itself! Another question, is it intentional that stealthed characters don't attempt to backstab by themselves?

I tried to change a hotkey in the ini file but said hotkey is still default, could you help?
35.16 Imoen doesn't have her spells with NPC customization
