About Sayne

  1. I just ran into another bug with this component of the mod. First, when I had met Tregnek and agreed to the quest, he gave me the finger, then quickly died and the game crashed to desktop. I reloaded a save and talked to him again, this time he didn't die, but he moved around the right side of the rock he is standing behind. Now when I talk to Cerese to finish the quest, the game takes me to where Tregnek is supposed to be... but he's around the other side of the rock and out of line of sight. The game gets stuck in cutscene mode. Thanks
  2. It's certainly worth a try. According to the SCSII readme (and previous experience with the component) Improved Minor Encounters adds the immunity to golems. Thanks for the info, Igneous. And sorry for being kinda whiny, DavidW. Your mod rocks, I just dislike this component of a component.
  3. So, hopefully I don't instantly embarrass myself with this question. I would love to install the Smarter Golems and especially the Improved Minor Encounters parts of this mod, but the fact that they grant Golems immunity to "Lower Resistance" has always been a deal-breaker for me. My favorite tactic when dealing with golems, because I find fighting them to be a chore, is to lower their MR and drop three, four Skull Traps / Horrid Wiltings on them till they die. Not installing these components prevents me from having the cool additions of the better Iron Golem cloud attack animation, and the upgraded fights of Improved Minor encounters, but would prevent me from using my favorite, time / annoyance saving tactic. I know from reading the readme of Spell Revisions mod, there are ways of tweaking the installer files of WeiDU mods to prevent certain spell changes being installed. Could this method be used to prevent the immunity to Lower Resistance from being installed in SCS II, or is the coding too complicated to easily exempt the immunity? I know enough about WeiDU mods not to go blindly poking around a text file lest I accidentally add a period somewhere and screw everything up. Thanks
  4. Wow, I'm an idiot. I could have read http://forums.gibberlings3.net/index.php?showtopic=21147. Way to go wasting forum space, Sayne.
  5. DavidW, I was trying to install SCS II after buying the GOG version of BG2 a few days ago. Third copy of BG2. Excessive? Anyhow, my mod installation process was going smoothly, when I ran into a problem with the Improved Vampires component of your mod. The glitch occurred with: Output file is scsII/vampire/ssl_out/vaimpir01.baf Copying and patching a whole bunch of stuff ... Copying and patching 4228 files ... ERROR: Cannot convert %he_min% or %%he_min%% to an integer ERROR: [b!GVAMP.CRE] -> [OVERRIDE/B!GAVAMP.CRE] Patching failed (COPY) (not_found) Stopping because of error. The mods I have (perhaps also excessive) are in this order. BG2 Fixpack, Horns of Valhalla mod, Sorcerer's Place Stuff, Stuff of the Magi (I know, overpowerd, thought I'd try it once), Weimer's Item Upgrade, D0Quest pack sans AI stuff - yours is better, Unfinished Business, Banter Pack, Flirt Pack (first time trying this one) Gavin NPC, BG2 Character Portrait Mod, 1 Pixel Productions, iiItem, Rogue Rebalancing (the Chosen of Cyric encounter is... interesting with your mod installed) and various aspects of BG2 Tweaks. I probably managed to cause the error somewhere, just my luck. Thanks for the mod, and for supporting it. Sayne
  6. I mean, Beholders are meant to be crazy tough, even in the Vanilla game... if you don't have a Shield of Balduran or a Cloak of Mirroring. My strategy is to unload my Sorcerer's entire compliment on them with Timestop + Improved Alacrity (once I'm leveled up enough to have those, obviously) and then a Greater Malison to hopefully make them save less. Very few Beholders survive 6 Horrid Wiltings... Elder Orbs still manage to though (protection from magic energy) and I have to beat them down with a horde of Skeleton Warriors (using Project image to get around the 5 pets limit). By the way DavidW, the Beholder Dungeon in the Underdark (with Smarter Beholders and Improved Beholder Hive) was obscene. When I saw that there were two Elder Orbs down in the bottom right corner, I about cried. That one took me a while...
  7. OK that's good to know. So if I wanted just to have an NPC start normally yet still be able to level them up myself, will TOB style NPCs from BG2 Tweaks do the same thing or will it conflict and cause my PC to catch fire? I know that's not your mod... so feel free to make fun of me for a dumb question. ^_^ I'm mostly just being lazy - I could load up NPC character sheets from about a dozen websites and manually enter them in if I wanted to. Great mod, I clearly just didn't know how to use it. ^_^ About the updated Level1npcs.tp2: the one I have is the one from the current full version on G3 (unless BWP fixpack screwed up the file, which would annoy me), if there's a new file out there I didn't know about it.
  8. So... I installed this mod with my newest install of EasyTutu, and I can't get NPCs to start a level 1. The proficiency stuff worked, as did the "NPC match PC experience" but they still start at the level matching the experience they (and my PC) have. Now I initially didn't enter any modifications of NPCs in the game because I couldn't remember any of their stats and I didn't want to screw them up. Is that required to have the NPCs start from level 1? The readme isn't clear. If so that didn't work either. One of my saves was in Beregost, so I edited Garrick (edited him to have default proficiencies), loaded the save in Beregost and picked him up and he started at level 4 just like my PC. Here's my WeiDU.log ...it's long. Level 1 NPCs at the end. Also, it's not listed in the conflicts section of BG2 Tweak Pack or Level 1 NPCs, but I assume the TOB Style NPCs from BG2 Tweak Pack will conflict / be over written by Level 1 NPCs? I didn't install it for that reason. 9. Strange. I installed the component to give anti-magic a small area of effect because I ran into a few mages that cast improved invisibility and Spell immunity: divination as well as stone skin and globe of invulnerability so I could not hurt them at all with my lower-level mage (or anybody). It came in really handy on several occasions. Then I began running into an issue with Lower Resistance. That spell became area of effect as well, and now I can't make it do anything to Golems at all. The Adamanite Golems in the Windspear hills were a real roadblock. I would usually lower its resistance several times then hit it with a few skull traps, but lower resistance has no effect on them whatsoever, for some strange reason. I managed to kill it by spawning myself an Imprisonment scroll and that got rid of the Golem fairly easily... but I should still be able to lower its resistance. Here's my weidu.log - I used the BWP Fixpack before installing mods. // Log of Currently Installed WeiDU Mods // The top of the file is the 'oldest' mod // ~TP2_File~ #language_number #component_number // [subcomponent Name -> ] Component Name [ : Version] ~BG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2~ #0 #0 // BG2 Fixpack - Core Fixes: v8 ~BG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2~ #0 #1 // BG2 Fixpack - Game Text Update: v8 ~BG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2~ #0 #2 // Super Happy Fun Lucky Modder Pack: v8 ~BG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2~ #0 #3 // BETA Core Fixes (please check the readme!): v8 ~BG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2~ #0 #100 // Party Gets XP for Sending Keldorn to Reconcile With Maria: v8 ~BG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2~ #0 #101 // Improved Spell Animations: v8 ~BG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2~ #0 #102 // Cromwell's Forging Actually Takes a Day: v8 ~BG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2~ #0 #103 // Mixed-Use Dagger Fixes: v8 ~BG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2~ #0 #104 // Ghreyfain's Holy Symbol Fixes: v8 ~BG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2~ #0 #106 // Giants Receive Penalties When Attacking Halflings, Dwarves, and Gnomes: v8 ~BG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2~ #0 #107 // Remove Dual-Classing Restriction from Archers and Stalkers: v8 ~BG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2~ #0 #108 // Remove Second Attribute Bonus for Evil Path in Wrath Hell Trial: v8 ~BG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2~ #0 #109 // Corrected Summoned Demon Behavior: v8 ~BG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2~ #0 #110 // Additional Script Fixes: v8 ~BG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2~ #0 #111 // Bard Song Fixes: v8 ~BG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2~ #0 #112 // Wizard Slayers Cause Miscast Magic on Ranged Attacks: v8 ~BG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2~ #0 #113 // Additional Alignment Fixes: v8 ~BG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2~ #0 #114 // Change Free Action to Protect Against Stun: v8 ~SETUP-VALHORN.TP2~ #0 #0 // Improved Horns of Valhalla v1.2 ~SETUP-ITEMUPGRADE.TP2~ #0 #0 // Shadows Of Amn Item Upgrades ~SETUP-ITEMUPGRADE.TP2~ #0 #1 // Throne Of Bhaal Item Upgrades ~SETUP-SPSTUFF.TP2~ #0 #4 // Creslyn's BG2 Item Pack ~SETUP-D0QUESTPACK.TP2~ #0 #5 // Additional Shadow Thieves Content: BWP Fix 6.0.6 ~SETUP-D0QUESTPACK.TP2~ #0 #7 // Extended Reynald Sequence: BWP Fix 6.0.6 ~SETUP-D0QUESTPACK.TP2~ #0 #8 // Intrigue In The Copper Coronet: BWP Fix 6.0.6 ~SETUP-D0QUESTPACK.TP2~ #0 #9 // Rahul Kanakia's Potion Quest: BWP Fix 6.0.6 ~SETUP-D0QUESTPACK.TP2~ #0 #12 // Improved Oasis II -> IO2 Dialogue Enhancement Only: BWP Fix 6.0.6 ~SETUP-D0QUESTPACK.TP2~ #0 #13 // Saving Sanik In Brynnlaw: BWP Fix 6.0.6 ~SETUP-D0QUESTPACK.TP2~ #0 #14 // Burglary Of The Bookkeeper: BWP Fix 6.0.6 ~SETUP-D0QUESTPACK.TP2~ #0 #16 // The Tragedy Of Besamen: BWP Fix 6.0.6 ~SETUP-D0QUESTPACK.TP2~ #0 #19 // Nazariel The Lich: BWP Fix 6.0.6 ~SETUP-D0QUESTPACK.TP2~ #0 #20 // Reward Negotiation: BWP Fix 6.0.6 ~SETUP-D0QUESTPACK.TP2~ #0 #21 // Infernal Thievery: BWP Fix 6.0.6 ~SETUP-UB.TP2~ #0 #0 // The Kidnapping of Boo by Cliffette: v18 ~SETUP-UB.TP2~ #0 #1 // The Suna Seni/Valygar Relationship: v18 ~SETUP-UB.TP2~ #0 #2 // Kalah and What He Was Promised: v18 ~SETUP-UB.TP2~ #0 #4 // Gorje Hilldark and the Extended Illithium Quest: v18 ~SETUP-UB.TP2~ #0 #5 // The Pai'Na/Spider's Bane Quest: v18 ~SETUP-UB.TP2~ #0 #6 // Restored Crooked Crane Inn: v18 ~SETUP-UB.TP2~ #0 #7 // Restored Encounters: v18 ~SETUP-UB.TP2~ #0 #8 // Artemis Entreri in Bodhi's Lair: v18 ~SETUP-UB.TP2~ #0 #9 // Corrected "Xzar's Creations": v18 ~SETUP-UB.TP2~ #0 #12 // Item Restorations: v18 ~SETUP-UB.TP2~ #0 #13 // Yoshimo's Original Portrait: v18 ~SETUP-UB.TP2~ #0 #14 // Anomen's Original Portrait: v18 ~SETUP-UB.TP2~ #0 #15 // NPC Portrait Restorations: v18 ~SETUP-UB.TP2~ #0 #16 // Corrected BAMs and Scripts: v18 ~SETUP-UB.TP2~ #0 #17 // Corrected Character Names and Biographies: v18 ~SETUP-UB.TP2~ #0 #18 // Restored Minor Dialogs: v18 ~SETUP-UB.TP2~ #0 #19 // Restored Bhaalspawn Powers, by David Gaider: v18 ~SETUP-UB.TP2~ #0 #20 // Extended ToB Item Descriptions: v18 ~SETUP-UB.TP2~ #0 #21 // Throne of Bhaal Minor Restorations: v18 ~SETUP-UB.TP2~ #0 #24 // Sarevok's Remorse: v18 ~SETUP-BANTERPACK.TP2~ #0 #0 // Pocket Plane Banter Pack for BG2: Shadows of Amn ~SETUP-BANTERPACK.TP2~ #0 #1 // Install SOA Banter Accelerator script? 10. Like most of us here I've been playing this game for ten years... resting has gotten dull. ;-) Resting after every fight was hyperbole, I would rest a few times per dungeon, sometimes more sometimes less, but it bugged me to watch the days tick by and not have anything accomplished. Either way I figured out how not to get murdered by spell spamming liches, I'll be OK. ^_^ Thanks
  11. It's probably SCSII's fault, though, since SSA is pretty smoothly coded. What error message do you get? I'm probably making some assumption about the structure of a spell file that's unsafe. I've forgotten what error it gives me, I just disregarded it and got rid of the XP for spells component... I can achieve faster leveling by using the console to give me XP if I really wanted to. ;-) In other news, I set the spell refresh timer to 150 seconds and that indeed fixed the spell spamming problem. You wrote some smart scripts for the Liches to detect that the spells had returned to their spell book and recast time stop. Now the lich in the Crooked Crane just has a Glabrezu in his Chain Contingency, as well as a spell immunity abjuration, spell immunity divination, improved invisible, globe of invulnerability, protection from magical weapons and stoneskin. He cast time stop cast greater malison, imprisoned Minsc, cast a horrid wilting on my whole party and cast mislead. SO he still kicked my lvl 12 party's butt (I couldn't even touch him), but he did it without spamming spells. ^_^
  12. One thing I have definitely found out is that SCSII's Smarter Mages will not install if Spell System Adjustment Mod's XP for casting spells component is installed.... not that that particular component is all that important... and the Smarter Mages is much cooler and more fun than getting XP for casting spells. Edit: I always spell something wrong and it bugs me.
  13. That would probably make more sense. I'll do it later tonight after work.
  14. And all I'm trying to do is not have to rest after every fight ;-) It's not a problem once my character reaches a level high enough to cast wish. At that point I just dump my whole spell book during / after a fight to make sure the genie offers me the option to renew all my spells. I got greedy and you wrote smart scripts, punishing my greediness. Hehe.
  15. When I run the uninstaller, it uninstalls the script yet still asks me to enter in a time for the spells to refresh and won't let me proceed without entering in a time. After I enter a time, the script reinstalls. No worries, I'll just reinstall BG2. I've been trying to get on the TBG forums to post about this, but they seem to be down.
