  1. K4thos, when people install the iwd in eet mod, they want to play iwd in eet. They want to play with friends and travel there and be able to go back and forth at will at their leisure. If playing alone, they want to take Khalid, Jaheira, Branwen, Viconia, Xzar, Montaron, etc. Over there quickly and see what new banters and interjections you've written.

When they play iwd in eet for a second time, they want to take a new set of BG1 NPCs to IWD and see the new banters and interjections for thise NPCs that they didn't see the first time. Don't force people to beat 1/3 of BG1 before getting to play IWD in EET. Anticipate people wanting to go to IWD immediately and pre-empt requests for tweak options to go to iwd immediately by simply making IWD available immediately.

  2. IWD starts out at level one. I would really hate for players to be forced to be likely be level 2 or higher to go there. People who install the IWD in EET mod want to be able to easily experience this new section of the game. The beauty of BG1 was being able to explore such large swaths of locations. Please strongly consider IWD in EET to be easily accessible in Chapter 1.

(Not to mention the enhanced roleplaying opportunity of having Erevain save his cousin in Nashkel).

  3. Hm, I've done some testing and it seems I only encounter an issue when using the "BigWorldSetup" program to install the mod. Installing the BG1NPC Project separately, even if using BWS for other mods, seems to be fine however.

    I think I've attached the weidu.log but I can't seem to attach the setup-bg1npc.debug.

It seems the solution to my issue is to simply not use BWS to install the BG1NPC Project - I'm not sure if this is generally recommended or not, so my apologies if I'm treading familiar ground.

    Please post this on SHS.

  4. That would be great. If the Perl distro could be bundled with Gemrb and only install if it's not already installed and if that perl install could be automated within BWP and BWS, that'd be really ideal.

  5. I really like this. I hope this can be turned into a full-fledged mod that will be available for Big World Project and Big World Setup for mass use.

I really hope that innovation will continue and that options for more than 10 will be supported later.

I suppose that the only mod mutually exclusive to Gemrb is TobEx, but some of those features have already been implemented in Gemrb

  6. FYI, the changes i've been making to GemRB the last couple of months will automatically create a functioning scrollview with scrollbar any time a windows contents exceed the bounds so the portrait stuff should be a non issue at that time.

In short, no need to waste time dealing with that issue now (or any similar content display issues) if you can be patient for another few months while that work is polished :)

I'll patiently wait until such a time I can get 40+ party members! Thank you for your work. Will we eventually be able to just drop a GemRB.exe into our game folder and have it it run a BG2 game?

  7. What's "full"? BG2 is finishable, all its side quests should be too, most mods work as expected, but of course, there are and may be some extra bugs. Not considering the new goodies, I think the general feel would be "needs polishing" at certain places. Mostly it's due to poor understanding of how the originals worked — they had complex, silly and buggy engines afterall.

40 is a nightmare, trust me.

40 would require some changes obviously and xp gain would be much slower. However, it's the best way to play the entire BGT saga with a lot of the new NPCs. Obviously some adjustment to how close each party member has to be at the exit would be required. GUI adjustments obviously. Adding more prison cells or something to handle additional prisoners in Irenicus's dungeon would be needed and probably other things too.

Thanks for your efforts with this and testing it!

  8. How far away are we from full bg2 emulation with gemrb? More than 6 party members would be my primary reason for using Gemrb. And, I would really like 40 party members at a time (and no I'm kidding. I never want to kick out an npc due to space ever!)

  9. subtle,

I really like your idea, but I'm having trouble with your mod. I don't like the multiclass changes and I don't want to include it, but I do like your options to set NPCs as certain kits. The options in BWS let me not install the Multiclass changes, but let me install things like Aerie as a Fastpaws.

Is there a way you could recode this to disconnect the two? As of now, I can't use the mod at all as the install errors prevented me from installing the NPC kits.

    Thanks,

    BIll
