frabjous Posted May 1, 2008 Share Posted May 1, 2008 It may have become "public property" in some sense then (meaning that CERN announced it would be free to use), but it existed before that. I distinctly recall using the Web in 1992 (with Lynx or possibly an early version of Nexus IIRC). Wikipedia dates it to 1989, but I don't know how accurate that is. We used gopher more often then, but that quickly changed. Link to comment
