BG / PST with 3rd edition rules

Hello everyone,

 

first a word to the developers: It's absolutely GREAT that you are putting so much work into reviving the old IE games. I recently tested GemRB and wanted to tell you did a fantastic job.

 

One question: Is it possible to convert the BG series and PST to 3rd edition rules somehow? The unbalanced and unnecessarily restrictive 2nd edition is the only drawback of these games. Already tested IWG (which used the IWD2 engine) but it did not function properly.

Yes, i'm sure it is possible, but currently GemRB doesn't really implement 3rd ed. Nor 2nd ed, actually.

Most of the actual d&d content isn't in the core engine (and never will be).

Perhaps even the 4th edition rules are possible, as long as someone codes them! (Is there a Standard Reference Document already?) I found the 2nd edition spell system more interesting than later ones though.
