Gavin BGII includes reactions to RE. For this, RE needs to be installed before Gavin BGII. I would install RE before NPC mods as a general rule. (My Ajantis BGII mod would also include reactions to RE, and I'd assume Xan BGII has them, too, maybe also other NPC mods).
Thank you. RE itself doesn't have any reactions to NPCs?

Ah, now that I looked at both, I see that the original map looks more like a properly enlarged BG2 map that would be included in a professional release of a commercial game, and there is nothing to be said against that. I do prefer the old BGT map though, as nothing screams "big world" as loudly as a huge, nerdy map of Faerun which it offers, even though the mods I use don't do Calimport or Soubar or whatever, those locations having been visited in some particularly over-eager mods only IIRC.

Out of curiosity, do you use the worldmap mod over the EET worldmap for aesthetic preferences, or does it have some functionality required for other mods in your list? The reason I ask is because I like the look of the worldmap, and I've never used it in game, but when I loaded up pictures from the modflies, the map itself looked fairly blurry at high resolution.
I guess it's just what I'm used to from back in the BGT times. Gotta try a build without and compare them.

Can you link to discussion of incompatibility please, I wasn't aware of this.
it was here: https://forums.pocketplane.net/index.php?topic=29738.msg340283#msg340283
Although from reading this more recent posting here, it sounds like BGGO team already took care of that:
Nevertheless, I'm rather safe than sorry and don't have time to just go and try it out, so no BGGO for me for the time being, with not being a fan of CTDs and everything.

It took me only a month, and I managed to compile a workable EET with many mods. I'll post it for anyone's interest. It had minor errors. My idea was:
- 1. have lots of content so that you can start several games without building a new game every time you want to try something out.
- 2. have all kinds of convenience and ease-of-use stuff.
- 3. add ADnD rules whenever they are practical and non-annoying
- 4. avoid buggy or bad content that breaks the game.
- 5. avoid content that switches up everything or cranks up the difficulty to Dark Souls.
- 6. avoid useless bloat, like boring kits that are 90% similiar to existing kit or bland NPCs who hardly ever banter, or entirely new concepts like shadow magic.
I started from my notes from an old 2020 build, and read up.
So, without further ado, here it is:
1. DLC Merger. Option 3.
2. Pre-EET BG1 mods
a. BG1 unfinished business (0, 11-14, 16-19, 21-22, 29-30, 32-34) having installed Svlast (32) and Nim Furlwing (30) here, I have to keep them out from NTotSC. I won’t pretend I know the difference between the two versions, but I suspect that UB versions are more streamlined.
b. Stone of Askavar (Default version, in accordance with EET compatibility list)
c. k9 Shar-Teel NPC Mod
3. EET itself, GUI Mods, Enhancements
a. EET Core (I don’t know what “mod checker” or “mod converter” do, but they seemed to add several hours to the install process, so I skipped them. Skipped the GUI module because I have GUI mods)
b. Bubb’s revert Pathfinding (if you auto-downloaded this like me, you need to manually delete the 2.5 version in the folder)
c. lefreut’s enhanced UI (BG2EE skin, component 0 and 2)
d. EEUI Tweaks (Lacks proper documentation – conflicts between modules are collected here: https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/60717/mod-eeuitweaks-mod-collection-all-ee-v2-2-platforms/p1. Links to what the components do are also right there. I ignored components that were introduced after the documentation on the forum)

EE Fixpack isn't ready yet and while EET's master allows merging fixpacked games (13.4 doesnt), we haven't started reviewing the result yet. Wouldn't recommend.

There's no EET Fixpack and what is claimed as such breaks the Sarevok coronation scene (long suspected, last week confirmed).
2.6 didn't do content restoration, 2.5 did, UBs are aware of it.
Modmerge is replaced with DLCMerger and the step is still needed.
If you're only finishing BG2 now, you might not need EET to begin with.
There are no general recommendations atm. Pick whatever you want, basically, install orders are then reviewed based on the selection.
Thanks, I didn't mean that horrible Roxanne "fixpack", I was talking about EE Fixpack by Camdawg. Don't know if it's still relevant because last Github update is 10 months ago. Do you by chance know if it is? Otherwise, I'll have to dig through the forums. The info that 2.6 didn't do content restoration is very useful, thanks.
And yes, I finished BG1 like 20 years ago and then got stuck in underdark. I'd like to start a new campaign in trilogy because trilogy is fun. Fun to build, fun to play through unless it's horribly broken in the middle, which is what I try to avoid. I'm currently working on my mod build (I already built BGT and EET before, most recently on 2.5) but didn't get around playing computer games since the pandemic, and now that I have a new laptop, I decided to start fresh.
I'll post my build as soon as I'm done ordering all these mods and pruning the ones I absolutely do not want.
Oh, and do I still need "revert pathfinding", seeing how 2.6 claims to improve it? I never saw that bubb's mod made much of a difference tbh.
-
Over the years, there have been lots and lots of fixpacks, compilations, tweak packs, unfinished business packs. I imagine some of them got deprecated through Beamdog fixes, some others might be no longer needed through EET fixing something. As someone trying to get myself a nice fresh EET install, I ask myself: what do I need? what is obsolete? what is recommended or even required for many a mod?
I'm not looking to remix anything, I want a good, steamlined trilogy experience with mods that expand upon the existing material rather than going for something different. I never even completed BG2, actually, and that's what I'm looking to do.
Do I need the bg2fixpack? What about the EET fixpack? Do I need Ding0's tweakpack? What about the Tweaks Anthology? Do I still need modmerge with GOG versions? Do I need the SOD tweaks? Are the unfinished business mods still needed? What would you recommend?
-
Oh, and in case it's important: she does show up in the lists, both normal and as romance partner. The Fate Spirit just says her line does no longer connect with mine. And Angelo has the same problem.
-
I'd go with giving him spears. Spears are not a proficiency a Charname would ever take (because they are not as strong as the other stuff) so it's nice that there is at least someone who is using them.
-
Yep. Clean install, no mods except EET and Tyris.
// Log of Currently Installed WeiDU Mods // The top of the file is the 'oldest' mod // ~TP2_File~ #language_number #component_number // [Subcomponent Name -> ] Component Name [ : Version] ~EET\EET.TP2~ #0 #0 // EET core (resource importation): 1.0 RC12 ~TYRISFLARE\SETUP-TYRISFLARE.TP2~ #0 #0 // Tyris Flare NPC: v9 ~EET_END\EET_END.TP2~ #0 #0 // EET end (last mod in install order) -> Standard installation
Chose TOB Campaign, Fate Spirit couldn't summon her. Without EET, she appears in TOB just fine.
-
I installed EET, Angelo and Tyris, started a new TOB campaign and couldn't summon either. I'll try with an even smaller install of Modmerge, EET and Tyris only and report.
-
I think I found a bug: Fate Spirits can't summon her if EET is installed. To test this, launch the game in TOB and see for yourself.
Not sure if it's a bug with Tyris rather than EET (or their converting tool), though, as Fate Spirits don't summon Angelo and some other mod-introduced characters either. -
I noticed that vanilla EET by itself restores f.e. old Friendly Arm Inn movie. So my question is: does it do the same thing with all the other movies, or would I in any way benefit from the "classic movies" mod in my build?
-
I don't know what Alonso wants, tbh.
I mean, yeah, you don't get a EET install in a breeze using PI. You have to find and read documentation for every single mod, you have to find data on which mods conflict with each other and double-check if the data is still up-to-date and valid. And then, you test a lot. Most "casual players" will be frustrated by all that and will stop trying to assemble a EET build halfways.
But that's not the fault of PI being so complicated. It's not complicated. I'm not a modder, I'm not a programmer, I never had any business with infinity mods beyond installing old BGT once back when Westley Weimer was making mods and "Tactics" and "Big Picture" were all the rage. I wished I were a modder. I'd fix the issue with Kivan's bow, Kivan's proficiencies and with fate spirits not summoning most of the modded characters in TOB portion myself if I was one, but unfortunately I'm not. The only head starts I have is patience and having used computers since before Windows 95.
PI is a simple tool with a handful of functions. It's not easy to do a mega-install with this simple tool - it's much more difficult than it used to be with BWS. But it's easier than doing it by hand completely.
I mean, sure, they could write: "Warning! Installing many mods is hard, frustrating and time-consuming", but it's not like the user won't find this one out quite soon anyway.
-
Gavin was listed, but not summoned. I tested it again on a clean install and it must have been interferance from another npc mod. False alarm, sorry.
-
BG2 Gavin can't be summoned via Fate Spirits in EET, for some reason.
-
I don't know. In old BG1, spears and halberds were the same, anyway. In tutu/BGT/EET, it got converted into halberds. I have no idea how to change it or how difficult it is, either, since I've never modded BG myself.
-
And if you are at it, may I suggest adding an option for EET-BGT-TUTU to give Kivan proficiency in spears rather than halbreds? So he can use the cool magic spear Thalantyr made for him more deftly.
-
This mod is outstanding, but I've encountered a problem with EET - namely, that you can't summon Angelo from the fate spirits in the trilogy, which is quite a shame, seeing how he has quite a few things to say to Sarevok.
Several other characters (Gavin, Tyris Flare) don't get summoned either. (I tested it by selecting a new TOB campaign rather than playing through SOA).
-
I guess so. The BG2 Kivan NPC also uses the p#bow.itm. It's in BG2 Kivan's inventory. Anyhow, I've tested it with and without the Banters and Quests module of the NPC project and am positive that BG2 Kivan loses bow privileges when Banters and Quests are also installed. It's a shame, because both mods are very well written and you wouldn't want to have to pick one.
-
There is a minor EET compatibility issue with the Kivan of Shilmista / Kivan and Deheriana mod: Namely, if I install the banters and quests module, then the BG2 version of Kivan won't be able equip his special bow.
-
I've seen Kivan of Shilmista in this build. It's a mod I also use.
In every build I tried, it seems to conflict with the BG1 NPC Project. Kivan can't equip his unique bow if NPC Project, or, more specifically "Banters, Quests and Interjections" is present. Have you people also experienced this? Is your BG2 Kivan also unable to equip his bow, or did I just fail at installing stuff?

@4udr4n what I noticed in your table is that you put heroes, thieves and moneylenders fairly high in the order (like 55 or so), while the readme (https://gibberlings3.github.io/Documentation/readmes/readme_htam_english.pdf) and your own table says that they are supposed to be installed after the NPC mods.
@jastey thanks, I'll rebuild it posthaste. It's great to have a community that takes a look and corrects the mistakes.
