  1. When leaving the slums for the first time in Chapter 2, the slaver random encounter occurred. However, one of the six opponents is neutral, and turns out to be none other than Suna Seni! She appears to give the normal conversation choices, given this is right near the beginning, so no Valygar on the scene yet. I do have the Quest Pack (or is it UB?) Suna Seni component installed as well. It just seems very odd for this to happen in a random encounter...

    Indeed. More information on this bug (mainly related to running WeiDU in Jaguar (OS 10.2), apparently) can be found here and here. The segmentation faults have not recurred in Tiger (10.4).

  4. I may be mistaken, but I think Rogue Rebalancing (Spellhold Studios) and Sword Coast Stratagems II (here at G3) have Detectable Spells as a component. Check out the readme files there and see if you could use one of them...

    (Whew, this is what one gets for posting various issues all over the place, having to tie up loose ends.) I'm pleased to report that both problems went away after I followed devSin's suggestion and raised stack limits in the shell, manually running each setup-xxx in a single session in Terminal. My guess is that the Stats.IDS problem cropped up after an earlier segmentation fault; in any case, it didn't recur this time, and Tougher Sendai installed normally. Now to try it all again and make sure this sticks.
  7. I'm happy to report that this is solved  and thanks for the referral! devSin recommended raising the stack limits. If anyone else needs this (probably unlikely, but just in case), you'll have to run the various setup-xxx weiDu components from the game folder in terminal, and if you quit terminal in between any of them you have to reraise the stacks, like so: "limit stacksize 64M" if your shell is zsh or tcsh (10.2) "ulimit -s 65536" if your shell is bash (10.4 at least) This seemed to allow the processes to do what was needed in each case.
  8. Actually, I think it's tcsh, since we're talking about a 10.2 build. In any case, I think I've solved the segmentation problem by raising stack limits. The syntax error was still there with the Fixpack, but as I said, the problem it's trying to solve is really just in the UI. Looking in the TP2 file, I don't see anything right off that's wrong; perhaps there's something in a space or carriage return that got altered when decompressed. I'll experiment with some better unarchivers per a discussion at Loriel's forum.

    Hmm, good point. Oh well, I tried to edit, but didn't see an obvious way to change the title. No problem about reinstalling: the segmentation faults have been a game stopper, before I even started the game! Unfortunately I trashed my WeiDU.log, as mod conflicts didn't seem to be really the problem (at least in the case of seg faults; I reproduced them on a clean install), but here's what I had when this showed up recently: SoA + ToB + patches ~BG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2~ #0 #0 // BG2 Fixpack - Core Fixes: 6.1 ~BG2FIXPACK/SETUP-BG2FIXPACK.TP2~ #0 #1 // BG2 Fixpack - Game Text Update: 6.1 In this particular instance, I had tried and failed to load NPC Tweaks 3.1 (Anomen component failed) and possibly a couple others that similarly failed, so maybe there's a possible culprit there? Additionally, I had downloaded and used Nythrun's tp2 hotfix for the FixPack.
  10. You're right, I'm sure the code didn't run - in any case, I had already made sure there's a temp folder; it's a very basic UI fix. As for changing the shell - I don't rightly know. I know just enough UNIX to get in trouble... How would I check where a program in /bin is linked?

  12. Yep, definitely updated to 2.08. There are a number of others that exhibit this behavior, and I'll report them there.

  14. The following lines keep turning up when installing the core fixes: Copying 1 file ... 'ix-temp: line 2: syntax error near unexpected token `temp) 'ix-temp: line 2: `test -f temp && (rm -f temp && mkdir temp) I'm aware of the problem this is designed to solve, i.e. making sure that there's a folder and not a dead file labeled 'temp' in the game folder. Also, this seems relatively harmless, I just don't know if the error is a sign of it recognizing that everything is fine, or whether it would work in case everything wasn't.
  15. Hm, I seem to have gotten a lot of these lately. Initially I thought they were somehow isolated to Weimer's Item Upgrade, or possibly Sim's Quest Pack, but apparently not. NPC Tweaks had a segmentation fault in the first component.
