Even with my limited knowledge, I'm pretty sure it could be done. Vampirism could be interesting, but a vampire has to kill an enemy with Energy Drain in order to make a new vampire. Lycanthropy, Mummy Rot and other permanent diseases could be a fun addition to the game. It would certainly make Cure Disease a more likely addition to my spell line up. :suspect:

Wasn't such an idea proposed a while ago?

Anyways, you don't really have to do a lot of editing, Just add an entry to the SECTYPE.IDS and the msectype.2da (IIRC that's what it's called), make a new spell that has all the effects of such a disease, and make the spell, cure disease protect you against diseases. You might also want to edit disease immunity spells to protect all spells that stimulate the effects of the disease(s).

Kinda tricky, but once you know how to do it, it isn't really as hard as you might imagine. :suspect:
