getting a "no valid replies or link" from Solaufein

I have yet another problem with my latest install. My game is going fine but when it comes time to get the dialog with Solaufein in Ust Natha where he offers you fake dragon eggs I only get his first sentence with a "no valid replies or links" in the bottom dialog bar and the dialog ends prematurely. Reloads don't help and click-talking him doesn't help. The only thing I could do was to ignore him and CLUA in the eggs. Then I finished the city off and after the Ritual he was hostile outside the temple but I ignored him and fled the city. Then after leaving he spawned in as per normal. But I can't help but wonder what the heck is wrong. I found out that I had forgotten to install the new flirt pack so that can't be it. Anyone know what I did wrong? Here's my log -

I remember hearing people lament about this same issue over on RPG Dungeon's Solaufein Flirt Pack forums. I haven't played it myself, so I can't offer first hand experience, but from what the creator said (and since you don't have it installed), it sounds like the game just had a random burp. I've had similar strange things happen before myself for no reason, especially people appearing hostile, although it's not a common thing. This is her exact response:

 

"There are three options there. One is that there is a missing argument in the coding. I have just gone through the coding and also run an error check and there is nothing there. The second is a corrupted dlg.tlk file, which is more likely. That would require a complete game reinstall and restart. Do NOT do that yet! Lastly is a bug in the original game. A search found that there is indeed a bug in the game that gives this error."

 

Is Solaufein working properly in your party now at least? I'm sorry I couldn't give more information, but I thought you might at least like to know you're not alone.

Thank you so much I hadn't realized others had this issue. I don't know if he's working fine yet because I made the save and haven't returned to that game yet. Basically I was worried about my installed mods but I know I've had most of these before and never had this happen so I was really puzzled.

When I return to that game I'll post here if he works fine. Thanks so much for the quick response though!
