berelinde Posted July 14, 2008 Share Posted July 14, 2008 Do not use Ease of Use. All of its components are superceded by Tweaks, and in a much more compatibility-friendly fashion. As Tactics and Ascension are both older mods that overwrite files rather than patching them, they should go much, much earlier in your installation, possibly even before the Fixpack. Unfortunately, I know nothing about some of the items on your list, so I cannot make any recommendations. The friendly advice starts here. Feel free to disregard it, of course, but it might save you some frustration. I can say that you will have one hell of an override folder. Unless you're planning on biffing, you might experience considerable lag, especially on a macine with lower memory. NPC mods are often to blame for this, with their many large sound files. A typical NPC mod might have a hundred sound files, each of which extracts to 500KB apiece. That's 50MB per NPC mod, if you're bad at math. And some mods are more lavishly voiced than that. If you've only got 512MB RAM to begin with, it's easy to see how quickly that can fill up. Because of a coding glitch, two of your NPC mods, Yasraena and Tsujatha, add both the compressed and uncompressed sound files to the override, doubling the damage. At least with them, it's easy enough to just delete anything in your override that ends in .ogg, because it won't be playable by the game, anyway. I generally recommend installing only the NPCs you plan to recruit during your current run. The time it takes rebuilding your installation is trivial compared to the frustration of system lag that you will avoid. Also keep in mind that crashes are far more common when your system memory is overloaded. Link to comment
