Just met Marek and was shocked to him getting a minus 17 (seventeen) modifier when shooting with his bow in melee.

According to Near Infinity he has two stars in Small Swords and one star in Bows.

Not sure if it's ScS's fault, but thought I'd mention it.

Ok, you are probably wearing something like the Boots of Avoidance, while he gets the -4 for the mellee, that makes -9 already, if you are wearing full plate, there is now -12 and he might have really low DEX for the last -6.

You're right. In addition Ajantis has a Cloak of Displacement.

I guess I've become too used to enemies behaving and targetting intelligently and getting huge pluses to their dice rolls...

Seems that with Marek the ScS AI went wrong for once.

I have never cursed so much when playing Baldur's Gate as with the current game. Especially Mages and Thieves with their Invis potions are annoying. Last time I met a little backstabbing bastard I had three characters casting Hold Person on him to prevent him from going invisible.
