Can't Find Kivan

After reading through the forums for help and the ReadMe file for the Kivan and Deheriana mod, I still can't find the answer to my question.

 

-- Is Kivan only avaliable through a new game, or is the mod accessable through a game already started? So far, I've been unable to 'find' Kivan on an already started game to which I downloaded the mod after starting. Is this the problem or simply an installation issue?

If I recall correctly, in a started game Kivan will wait inside the temple of Ilmater in the Waukeen's Promenade.
