Is it safe to modify the party throughout the game?

I've played for a bit into the game but I'm not sure if its safe to modify the party and change characters.

Is this possible to do without strange bugs appearing?

 

Anyway, great job on this mod! Took me forever to come up with a fitting PC.

Yes, as long as you don't add more than one 'main' character. I would keep the Player 1 in his or her slot for the whole game. The rest of the crew, you can rotate. There are even templates [rovided for the NPCs on the different levels (or just level them up via Clua).
