Capt Massacre
Normally, arrows of piercing deal 1D6 damage, + 6 physical damage, save vs; death for 0, yet some monsters resist this damage with Magic Resistance. Link to comment
Wisp
Yes, the extra damage from Arrows of Piercing is subject to magic resistance. This is also the case for Acid Arrows, which are also described as being non-magical in nature. Link to comment
devSin
It is very unlikely we will ever do anything here. BioWare was extremely inconsistent when setting power and dispel/resistance for item effects (especially damage), so there's no way to tell what they were aiming for. We can simply assume, with 99% certainty, that this is all due to the copy/paste of effects between sources (as they've said their toolset allowed), but I'm not willing to pass judgment based only on that assumption (really, just because we'd have to look at *every* item and decide "did they really want this blocked by magic resistance and/or immunity to spell level >= n?"; the days for that type of mass undertaking are gone, along with all the people I'm referring to when I say "we'd"). ;-) Link to comment
