I hate being the noob

Alright, I've been a huge G3 fan for about a year now (when i discovered downloadable content actually existed) I explored the pages in silence and read forums and tried to become a mod builder on my own.

Hasn't been going as smoothly as I would have liked, and most of the time I end up with half of what I need to know. I'm also a technology student in college, so my knowledge is growing about programing and computer hardware. Probably 90% of people reading this will have moved on to another topic by now, but I've decided to break out of my shell and start posting.

I REALLY want to get involved in modding. Like REALLY bad. however, I don't have the know-how, experience, etc. etc. Alright, point is, I have questions.

How do you make your own textures for NWN2, is there a particular file type or program you need to use?

With BG2, from what I've gathered, everything is done through scriptwork.

In NWN2, is it possable to manipulate the animations to change them, (like combining 2 animations in a single cycle, but only using portions of the animations together) or is there a way to create my own?

If I want to create my own soundsets for NWN2, or even take a soundset from another game like Icewind Dale 2 and convert the files to work for NWN2?

I have a lot of NWN2 toolset specific questions, but I'll save those for later...

I have read a crap ton of the scripting notes and read several forums and theres a few things i just cant figure out.

If anyone actually read this entire thing and deins to help me, may I just say thank you for your patience and I really hope to become an adept modder. Well, I think that's it.

(forums scare me...)

Gibberlings 3 is not really the right place to ask IMO. Although it does have some NWN2 mods there, the Neverwinter Vault is the place to look. It has some tutorials as well. I scooped some up for you.

NWN2, like many other games, uses the .DDS texture format (which allows compression without any noticible loss in texture quality :D). To open those, you need a program which reads DDS. The gimp has an DDS plugin...

As for the actual texturing, you probably have to do a bit of trail and error. Open an existing texture and modify it a bit for example. Some tutorials below.

You can find a lot of information on that there too :).

I am not into NWN2 modding, so I can't give you any information for that. But I wish you good luck .
