Widescreen Mod with BG:TotSC

Guest PBW

Recommended Posts

Greetings,

I want to use Widescreen Mod to play BG:TotSC in a resolution of at least 1024x768.

EXE patching failed is my problem. I use Windows XP SP3 and my BG comes from an

All-in-one DVD-Box together with Icewind Dale. My BG is in German!

This is the error-log:

I read like 100 threads but no solution fits for me til now.

Things I tried:

- Installing WideScreenMod on a BG:TotSC with XP_Cap. Failed.

- Uninstalling BG, reinstall it. No XP_Cap this time. Installing WSM. Failed.

- Reading forums. Seeing that all data from CD must be on HD. Copying data. Installing WSM. Failed.

- Reading forums. Downloading the nVidia fix tool. Install it. Hooray, the black boxes are gone. Installing WSM. Failed.

- Reading forums. Finding out that you need a save game. Creating a save game. Installing WSM. Failed.

- Rage.

- Reading forums. Find out nothing new this time. Cry.

- Uninstalling BG completely. Reinstall it. Install nVidia fix tool since black boxes are ugly. Installing WSM. Failed.

- Giving up, creating this thread as a last hope ;_;

Try this, uninstall the game... clean/remove all the files in the "D:\DESU\Baldurs Gate" folder, reinstall the game to that folder, select the Custom install, and then select all the boxes(to make a full install), then install the, BG:TotSC again with Custom full install, then update the game to the version (v1.3.5512) with one of the patches in here, DO NOT download the DX8 package(the last two once) so I think this is the one you need(direct download link). Then start the game with a premade character, observe and exit when it autosaves.

If you saw the blackboxes, install the nVidia fix tool, then run the widescreen-v2.60.exe you have or download this, and it should be able to patch the bgmain2.exe ...

Ok, I've done all this.

WSM successfully installed this time!

But when I start BG now, the videos are smaller and in the upper left corner of the screen.

When they're done I get the following error message:

2a8opwh.jpg

and the game closes! What now?

Well, if you wish to do something about that, you can install this mod on top of the already Widescreen mod'ed game.

I am not familiar with the error you get ... but perhaps... open the "cache", the "temp" and "tempsave" folders (they are all in the game folder) and delete the files them, if there's any.

Hey, it works now!

And with the GUI Mod everything looks cool on top.

The problem was that I tried to load a savegame.

Then it crashed.

But if I start a new game, everything works now!

Thank you so much for the very fast help!

Well, you should really wait if 'the bigg' approves, and I surely don't take money(so no pressure of anykind), but if you really wish to pay something to somewhere, make a donation to here... erhm, I don't think the G3 has an account like that, that's why I ...
