BG1 is jerky on widescreen

The movements of the characters and such are jerky at 1280X768 resolution. I have a 16:9 monitor. I've tried other resolutions, but I still end up with a similar problem. I have windows 7 64 bit and an nvidia graphic engine. Is there anything I can do?

Set up the game the right way, and avoid the OS'es peculiarities(read the answers #2 and #5 in here), and further Nvidia help(read the first post).
