Once there was a cub and a kitten who were the best of friends. After some time, the cub realized that he had fallen in love with the kitten. "What am I to do?" he lamented, "For when I grow up, I will become an enormous wolf, and my friend will forever remain a small cat." So one night, the cub stole away without a word. He did this with a terrible sorrow, but reasoned that one broken heart would be better than two. Time passed, and before long the cub came to be a fully grown wolf. One day, on passing through a copse from his childhood, he felt a familiar presence. It was that of his old friend, the kitten. Turning around, the wolf was astonished to find he was looking at a very large panther. She smiled, "Do not fear love."
