mbrowne Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Widescreen Mod fixes the problem I have with BG2: In the games's unlock resolution of 1600x1200 I get CTDs on right-clicking certain items in Inventory such as the energy cell, jail cell key, etc. in the starting area. That's all the farther I am in my first play With Widescreen Mod at 1600x1200 no crashes. Cool. Is there any chance enough of Widescreen could be put together just to prevent the CTDs? I'd like to not end up with the tiny interface. I'm fine with 1600x1200, and don't really need a different aspect ratio. Or is there any other fix anyone may be aware of? Thanks.
Jarno Mikkola Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Well, you can select what ever resolution setting your monitor can handle with Widescreen mod... so one of these full screen resolution options would be the optimal: 16:9960x5401024x5761280x7201360x7681600x9001920x10802048x1152 (from this point on, the Widescreen mod might not work, as it's not tested)2560x1440---------------16:10960x6001024x6401120x7001152x7201280x8001440x9001680x10501920x12002560x1600(from this point on, the Widescreen mod might not work, as it's not tested) But no, there's no way to fix the CTDs as they come from the fact that the enlarged pictures go off frame and so on.
mbrowne Posted October 6, 2014 Author Posted October 6, 2014 Thanks for the response. I hope I said it right - the game without Widescreen Mod crashes on right-click, Widescreen Mod fixes that. So, I was bummed that the game's own unlock 1600x1200 resolution, though unsuported, crashes. It worked fine in Tutu. As far as the additional resolutions you mention, again, in Tutu I was able to use Widescreen Mod for any resolution. For some reason in BG2, if I use Widescreen Mod for other than one of the game's 4 resolutions, 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, or 1600x1200 all I get is this: which is very curious. That's the full resolution, BTW. Widescreen Mod does those four resolutioins fine though. Oh, well... It's not a problem however, because I don't think I'll be using it due to the interface thing.
Jarno Mikkola Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 It's likely that if you have a modern graphic card and get interference, it's due to the software settings the game uses are undone by the cards own. Unless you don't have a monitor that's modern either.
