Spell Casting on touch screen - how?

I'm running icewind dale 2 on a nexus 7. When I try to use my druid to heal the wounded guard on the dock right at the beginning I can't work out how to target the spell. I can't see if the spell is highlighted if I just click, and press and hold exits the spell casting menu.

 

I've managed to do this once, and cannot work out how I did it.

click and hold is right click so that will cancel the casting. should just be click spell then click target.
