caleron Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 Where can I check / adjust these options at? My baldur.ini file in the trilogy documents folder shows the FPS is supposedly at 45, but in game is reads as 30 fps. And I have no idea what the resolution is at. Quote
Jarno Mikkola Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 (edited) Normally the game should run at your windows default(background) resolution... The game normally runs at 30 FPS, but unlike with modern FPS games, in this engine the FPS is tied into the default game speed ... so if you put it to 60, you have combat round at every 3 seconds as normally they would last 6, that can be 10 attacks per char at max level . So you have to be quite faster at play... but the game can render the games contentat a high speed. Actually if you set the FPS too high, and you begin to skip frames, you might get a very low rendering speeds... so for example 1/60th FPS. Which means the game skips a whole minute without displaying a thing, while the action still happens in "real time", and the only way to recover is to pause the game. Now that shouldn't happen in moderaly modified games in the Enhanced Edition... but it did happen in the non-EE games, when scripts were bugged etc. The games max "FPS" is set in the Baldur.lua -file, which can be found at C:\Users\<windows user name>\Documents\Baldur's Gate II - Enhanced Edition -folder. It's this line: SetPrivateProfileString('Program Options','Maximum Frame Rate','30') I would suggest to leave that alone. I would say that the game can be played at 45 ... but it's not set to that by default by EET. Edited March 1, 2018 by Jarno Mikkola Quote
