  1. Yeah, I'm enjoying the EET a lot, even if some of the battles are very tough. I had trouble with Sarevok, his 2 assassins a bit earlier and a few others, and BG2 has some nasty boss battles so far. Finding the hidden door in the inn in the Athkatla City Gates area was fun! When the 6 shapechanging mages jump you when you leave Athkatla, is that a winnable battle? I ended up having to just say forget it and tell them I wasn't the person they were looking for. Just hoping the game is doable in the long run. If I couldn't use the "wait it out" strategy with the Shade Lord I'd be in a tough spot there. I guess a Mass Invisibility could help, too, to wait it out. Lots of ways to approach it, which is awesome, and one of the reasons I'm loving BG so much in general.
  2. Thanks. I think the problem is I have literally none of those as I can't cast level 6 spells. I have one copy of Pierce Magic, a scroll, and that's it. But, after literally an hour of trial and error, I think I've figured it out. Didn't realize you can run down in the grassy area below the altar. So I quickly destroy the altar ASAP, retreat to the grass and try to survive until his protections run out. Then, quickly throw everything at him while I have a chance between his casting of protections. I had him Near Death a minute ago, and literally drank a healing potion instead of an invisibility potion with my main character and ended up taking a shot that killed me. So next time should be good to go. Rough one, though. Hard + SCS might just be a little too much, but I'm not entirely sure because the normal combats are mostly easy enough (it's just those damn boss battles that give me trouble. Usually powerful mages.)
  3. Hey folks! Just curious about this encounter, as it's probably the toughest one I've faced yet. Maybe I'm not understanding exactly, but all my spells seem to just either reflect off of him, or have no effect whatsoever (not even a saving throw is rolled, apparently.) I guess the second part of that is because he has some sort of spell absorption? I'm wondering about his other protections, though. The swirling blades I believe cause damage to anyone directly attacking him in melee, so I avoid that. Not sure how to dispel a reflection/absorption spell, though. I tried Breach, just seemed to have zero effect. Tried Remove Magic, nothing. Maybe the saving throws were successful but I usually see at least the dialogue in the combat log saying that. In this case it just hit him and had no effect whatsoever. I should mention I'm using SCS on Hard with all the SCS bells and whistles turned on (which, I might soon go back to Core Rules, dunno. The normal/above normal fights are fine, but the boss battles often have a huge difficulty spike, likely to the Improved 'X' Encounters of SCS.) I also destroy the altar and in the last try against him he was basically the only enemy left, but I had nothing left at that point to dispel him with. So would I just need to try a few more Remove Magic spells, and/or a few Breach spells? Thanks in advance.
  4. I was very pleased to see that, like @Roxanne said, only some of my gear was left there on the table. A very reasonable amount of it, not too much, just right. Good stuff.
  5. I'm not sure I want to understand what that reference is about, lol. I'd like to mod IE but might jump in with NWN instead. Seems easier for a first-timer and like I wouldn't get trapped in the Nine Modding Hells so easily. We'll see.
  6. Lol, true. Disregard my posts, then! And there are professional BG players. People like you all who know the ins and outs of everything in the game. I call you Pro Players, haha. I'm just a lowly newb who only finished BG twice and it was with the EE both times. I'll go sit in the corner now.
  7. Hmm, thanks ya'll. But what about this specific setting in EET Tweaks. "Transfer Party Items to SoA" I ended up turning it OFF thinking my whole party's stuff would be there, which I'd find weird if like, Corwin's stuff was there. But I couldn't find info on it so I turned it OFF. Now I'm curious if I should have kept it ON though, haha. Since thieves and duergar take their pick I think that could be a cool role-playing thing. But I already started SoA, so, yeah. My head hurts. Haha.
  8. I'm not a professional BG player but I'm pretty sure you have to start from scratch if you're installing mods like EET. The only mods you can install mid-game (from my understanding) are small things like NPC companions and maybe minor encounter stuff. You can also tweak EET Tweaks settings mid-game, but that is obviously only if you're already playing an EET playthrough. Hope that helps. I'd recommend EET as a first-time EETer myself. I'm having a blast and about to finish up Siege of Dragonspear now.
  9. Interesting. Thanks for the answer! Can I ask one more thing? In EET, does my 6-person party's loot automatically appear in a chest in the starting BG2 dungeon? I just want to make sure I understand how it works before triggering the start of BG2.
  10. Hello! So, I'm finishing up Siege of Dragonspear now and would like a small bit of input about if I should import party items into BG2. I have so many amazing magical items at the end of BG:EE + SoD that I'm afraid I'll just be too loaded with good stuff and making the first several hours of BG2 too easy. Either that or I'll miss out on using other items because I'm "stuck in my ways" using the items I already have! Any input on this? I'm trying not to be obsessive and import everything but I also am wondering what would be best for a "roleplaying, lore-friendly" approach. I.e. it wouldn't make sense if BG2 starts weeks after SoD and there are chests full of my gear + 5 companions who aren't even present at the start... Thanks in advance.
  11. I second this sentiment! Currently enjoying my first EET run. Next time I play I want to add all this content that I *should* have added to begin with! So thanks y'all. Take care, Flu
  12. @Roxanne, after I installed your file I got 3 new banters when I loaded my game. It's working well. Thanks!
  13. You are the best yo, haha. Thank you! By the way, I was exploring the Bhaal temple near Boareskyr Bridge and some of the banters are working correctly. Voghiln gave a compliment to Corwin and she responded, and it was typical BG-style (no dialogue box opened up, they just were talking in the game.) So hopefully that is a sign of good things to come! I'll add the file you suggested as well and see what happens.
  14. 1 - Hmm, interesting. Voghiln wasn't in BG1 and he triggered a dialogue, too. It is the same trigger that any character in BG1 would have done to start a conversation, and then you'd have options to respond or what not. The character starts the first line, a dialogue box opens and then when you click continue/etc., the convo just ends there. Rasaad said something like, "My lady, can I have a moment of your time?", and my character is a male so I take it he was talking to a companion. I forget what Voghiln said but same idea, it was directed at a female party member but the conversation just did not continue past his initial first line. I'm hoping it's not some bug that messes up banter conversations going forward. It has happened 3 or 4 times now in the SoD areas. Also, side note, but does the Talk button not function in SoD now? I have been trying to talk to my party members but nothing happens when I use the talk icon thing on the UI. And just to be clear, are you saying I DON'T have the SoD banter mod installed? Sorry, I'm not clear on what you meant there. If I didn't install it, is it too late to add now? When I did Big World Setup I was really winging it and I see that was a bad idea now. 2 - Awesome, thanks. I bet he will have the gear since EET is working well for me (Minsc remained dead in SoD, for example, and Dynaheir had the same stuff I left her with a long time back in BG1. Isra/Finch carried over with their gear perfectly in tact, too. 3 - Ah, perfect then. Weird, I just assumed there would be many more in BG1, but it looks like it was working correctly. I guess all these new characters come in SoD/BG2 then. 4 - She was in my party, yeah. Although Viconia was in my party, too, and her profile changed to the SoD one (and I did not enable "Consistent Portraits" or whatever that option was in EET. I like the idea of having the portraits change, keeps things fresh for me.) Cheers!
  15. Thanks Roxanne. Here are the log files. WeiDU.log: WeiDU-BGEE.log: 1 - SoD Banter, hmm. It appears by my WieDU log that I do have it installed. 2 - A save file? I'd have to look. Xan started SoD with his gear in tact, but I noticed hours later while in the Dwarven lich area of Siege of Dragonspear, that either my Silver Bag of Holding had the items disappear, or I just somehow could not find the Improved Cloak of Detection I had (I had 2 of them made, and couldn't find the 2nd one anywhere.) I am not sure if I even used the Silver bag but I'm almost sure I did as I had 2 other bags too. But I can't be 100% sure if I did use the bag much at all, and where Xan's stuff would have been. I am sure I opened the 2 chests in Baldur's Gate in the rooms with Imoen. One had all my other gear, and one I think was strictly Imoen's gear, and I took everything. At least, I think I did. :/ 3. Thanks, my fault then. 4 - It looks like in the Baldur's Gate wiki that SoD's Jaheira portrait is actually her BG2 portrait by default. Is that right? Thanks again Roxanne, you are awesome for helping me with all of this stuff! You guys here are doing amazing work with this game and I'm thrilled to be able to play all this stuff. Oh, let me also add that these right here - I have not seen any of them so far. Are they ALL BG2 NPCs, or did I simply miss some of them in BG:EE?
  16. So I'm in the SoD portion of EET and I had a few questions on small things. 1 - Once in awhile a companion will seem to start a conversation, i.e. Rasaad will say "Can I have a word with you my lady?" and a dialogue box opens up like normal. However, it then closes and no conversation takes place. Is this a bug ? It's happened a few times now with Voghiln and Rasaad, with 2 or 3 different dialogue lines. I know there is some setting somewhere that "makes SoD dialogue like the original game" or something but not sure how/where I could change that, or if it's working correctly? 2 - Either my Silver Bag of Holding had the items disappear or Xan's equipment was never dropped off in SoD. Unfortunately I'm not 100% sure on which of those happened but I know I am missing my second "Improved Cloak of Non-Detection" that he was wearing (and probably other stuff I can't remember.) 3 - I haven't noticed any new items in BG:EE or really any new NPCs other than Valerie, Gavin, Finch and Isra. It's weird. Haven't noticed any new encounters really, either, although my memory could be hazy on that. I know I added a ton of NPCs and "Recommended" content in Big World Setup but after beating BG:EE I did not notice much new. I also did not notice Sarevok friendship, which I had installed. Is it possible this stuff didn't activate or did I just miss it? I did install 12 or 13 NPCs after I started the playthrough. Maybe I missed their starting locations? 4 - Jaheira doesn't have an SoD picture? I thought that was weird since Viconia does but I just met Jaheira and she looks the same (which actually, is her BG2 picture for some reason. Was the same in BG:EE as well.) Sorry for the wall of text but this is my first run through EET and I'm just not sure how it's supposed to function. Thanks in advance!!
  17. I am not sure what you have in mind here. SandrahRtF and SandrahToT are each almost something like a new campaign. RtF continues the game after ToB and it introduces a dual player team of protagonist + Sandrah to solve a new plotline with the help of other NPCs. It revisits the complete scenerie of BG trilogy areas and adds 100+ new areas etc. Many old NPCs appear again in different roles and occupations. Both protagonists must stay alive and work together to win against a cast of new opponents. ToT even changes this further since your protagonist is replaced by a fixed figure through which you play the game (the heroine Midnight from the Time of Troubles) and you need a number of companions e.g. Cyric, the assasin to win your game. In addition to the challenge that you need to keep those NPCs alive, you must also be careful with actions and decisions since you cannot alter the history of the Realms in such a way that it changes your own possible existence. Whaat. Wow. I didn't realize it added *that* much stuff! I actually thought it was a simple companion mod for some reason. Sheesh. I need to pay more attention. Well now I feel worse, haha. I really would like to play through The Sandrah Saga now, but I'm already 100+ hours deep and started Siege of Dragonspear already. Ugh. I wish there was a way to somehow more easily add content during a current playthrough (even though in this case it wouldn't matter much, since I've missed a ton of her stuff in the first game.) Dang.
  18. Thanks! Having fun with SoD now. It's not too hard, just takes a bit of care. I'm surprised how much I like the expansion so far. It's a shame that content for the Infinity Engine isn't easier to make, as it would be awesome to see fanmade campaigns in the engine and make mods like that more common. I could mention the mods linked in my signature as examples, but you dismissed them already. There are others and they are nearly all available now in EET and BWS supports their install. You just need to select them. It's not that I dismissed them, but I already had a playthrough started. You did mention I can't add quest stuff once my playthrough is started, right? Since I'm recording it for my YouTube channel it was too much hassle to restart this time, but I'd like to try yours and the other content mods sometime! @Roxanne, Did you ever think about doing an entire campaign inside the engine? Since you already know it so well it could/would be a great opportunity, IMO. A sort of total overhaul type campaign would truly be one of a kind!
  19. You beat Sarevok, right? The mob is like that in SoD, I cannot say they are more difficult, just their intelligence against you is better. I think the makers of SoD learned/adopted a bit from SCS and other mods for the classic games. The really hard battles are as rare as in other parts (A lich, a dragon, the final boss). Crowds of enemies are a bit larger, and they mix the monsters which I personally find very good (I used it in my mods before already). In my opinion, it is the surprise factor of that early dungeon. It is not harder - it is just different and makes you re-think your crusted tactics, which is a good thing. Thanks! Having fun with SoD now. It's not too hard, just takes a bit of care. 20. Thanks Roxanne! Playing it now. It's a tough one to start. Would you say the difficulty gets harder or is this an early challenge in SCS for SoD?
  21. My party is: Main character Isra (mod) Viconia Imoen Xan Finch (mod) I moved all around the cathedral and nothing is happening. Can't click the door to exit, can't rest either. Xan died in the battle but I res'd him. A Skeleton Warrior survived after Sarevok died and I killed it, then nothing happened. Hm, it looks like Sarevok is not detected to be dead. You can - upload a savegame of the case (in case you can even save) OR - enter these via console C:SetGlobal("EndOfBG1","GLOBAL",0) C:SetGlobal("Sprite_is_deadSarevok","GLOBAL",1) OR C:Eval('StartCutScene("BDSODTRN")') Hey Roxanne, I fixed it by traveling to Undercity via console. Thanks though! One thing, I'm not sure how to start SoD. Would you recommend transferring all BG items into SoD? Which makes the most sense from the canonical perspective? Also have to figure if I should keep the portraits consistent with EET or not. Hmm. Decisions to make. Good stuff though, first time playing SoD and I'm glad BG finished up properly. Are you sure that *traveling to Undercity via console.* fixed it? Because your questions sound a bit odd. If the real EET transition was performed, you have this; - you see the Sarevok end movie of how his body desolves and his essence goes to the abyss etc - you see some transition movie - your final party appears in the Korlasz dungeon (items and all) only Imoen is no longer in party but standing nearby. On the floor is a heap of items that were on the ground in Sarevok's last area. - You see a cutscene of some remaining Sarevok followers and then Imoen starts the introductory talk with you. - your party members stats, equipmemt and all are exactly what they were in BG1 a minute ago. In case something different has happened, you maybe should try one of the options from my previous post. Yes, that's exactly what happened when I traveled to Undercity via console. Oh, and the second time I had to travel BACK to the temple via console, and then it triggered the cutscene and I wound up in Korlasz's dungeon. So it is normal then to remain equipped with all the same items? I have everything exactly from BG, I was just wondering if canon-wise that was appropriate (since in BG2 for example, you start with different party members, etc..)
  22. My party is: Main character Isra (mod) Viconia Imoen Xan Finch (mod) I moved all around the cathedral and nothing is happening. Can't click the door to exit, can't rest either. 23. Fixed it. Using the EE console and simply traveling to the Undercity with a console command triggered the cutscene. Yay.
  24. Who is in your party? Normally the transition to SoD triggers but in EET, some NPCs felay this if you need some item from the fallen enemies for their plot. Also make sure that everyone is alive. Try also to move your party out of sight of Sarevok's body, there are some scripts that even target Sarevok when he is already dead and think the battle is still on.
  25. Hey there. So I painstakingly, painfully and luckily somehow defeated Sarevok and his goons at the end of BG1, but nothing happened after he died. I can't exit the cathedral, no cutscene played and I'm just stuck here now. I was thinking maybe it was because the Skeleton Warrior outlived Sarevok and the battle didn't end until I killed it, but now nothing is happening. How do I advance this area? I can't possibly fight that battle again, it took me literally hours of multiple attempts and getting lucky. Thanks, Flu
