  1. So these are probably the questions to which many here already know the answers, but I am a little bit confused right now, so I feel like I need to ask. Mind you, I have tried reading through some topics here on gibberlings3 but I am unsure about some things.

OK, So first, I am not a completely inexperienced BG modder, and I have played the old trilogy and the new Larian game too. I also did a BG: Tutu on the old versions of the game a couple of decades ago and played EET. However, for the EET, I used that setup, which I realized is not recommended by many people around here, and let us not delve into the how and why that is... So, I wanted to do a new EET installation using Project Infinity, and.. that is where I got into trouble.

I have tried reading this, this, this, watched this, and this ... also this. Also, I found a topic with convenient excel file (EET Mod Install Order Guide) in some topics around here, where it has all the mod names listed as well as their incompatibilities, install order, etc

My point here trying to be, I tried putting effort into understanding how things work, and what should I do but I am still confused about some, well probably obvious questions to those who know the answers to them.

Anyway, let me try to get to the point:

    1. If I am using ProjectInfinity as a mod manager, and I am choosing the mods that I want to install, do I need those Weidu logs from that video (or similar kind of logs) or not. My assumption is that I do not because those logs will install those specific mods, and if I want my own mod order and mod pickings I need to download them manually, but do I need any WeiDu logs, or not?

    2. I have seen that there are DLCMerger, and a few other mods that should be installed on BG1, before going through with EET.. but if I am using ProjectInfinity, do I install those mods manually on BG: EE, and then proceed to use Project Infinity to add EET and other mods... or do I use Project Infinity, but switch to SoD as a game, like in that video I already mentioned above, install all the mods I want to on BG: EE (or SoD to be more precise since I am having both, so SoD in upper left of ProjectInfinity panel).. OR I just install through project infinty and put those mods into Enhanced Edition Triligy - BG:SoD mods installation category?

    3. OR is it enough to select the folder for extracted mods, select EET as a game that I am editing, and just download mods using Project Infinity_ basically, if I am using Project Infinity as a mod manager, do I still need to manually install BGEE mods, or do I have to install those mods first on SOD, and then add mods on EET.. or can I just add them all on EET and ProjectInfinty will sort them out?

    4. Does install order matter, I mean of course it does. but if I am using project infinty, do I still need to install orders in the exact sequence required, or it doesn't matter. The confusion comes from the fact that in the projectinfinty i can move around and rearrange mods into different subcategories.. but i am not sure if that means that install order does not matter (think Skyrim and ModOrganizer, where you can move the mods around and change the order in which they are loaded into the game)

    5. Lastly, I added projectinfinty to windows defender exceptions, and I tried adding ProjectInfinty to process list exception, but it is still blocked until I disable real time threat protection. What else should I add to the exception rules? I guess I prbobaly did not named the process right or?

  2. I did. I am not saying it is better than the original game, and original expansions, but it is not bad, gives you a few hours of fun gameplay time and some interesting story. It is not perfect by any means, and they could have done some things a little bit better, but overall, for me it falls on the more positive side.

Really ? You can't look up at all, to Alien's signature and the link to the introduction on how to use pee. Ouh man.

I could ... if I knew it existed or where to look. Which obviously, I didn't see, otherwise I probably wouldn't ask. 🙃

@Telcontar pay no heed to @Jarno Mikkola's choice of phrasings. But I'd indeed follow the links in @AL|EN's signature and see how far you get with the instructions in case you haven't already. If you have further questions let us know.

Indeed, although still tremendously confusing, that link does help out a bit. Might probably take the time to read through that topic and this entire topic as well, I guess and then see where do I stand.

  4. I am sorry for kinda stealing Cahir's topic, but I figured maybe it is better to ask here than to start a whole new topic when I short reply could be enogh.

Is there any guide, resource, tutorial on using Project Infinity for modding EET. I installed PI but I can't quite get my head around it, and how it works. I realize it is a bit complicated and not easy to get it right and get the mods and order right.. but I just can't seem to be able to figure out where to start.

If you want to keep the same crew from Keep to Throne, you're quite limited. The only BG1 NPCs that make it to BG2 -- at least initially -- are the ones that wake up with you in the cell. That's Minsc, Imoen, and Jahiera. Viconia is available for recruitment after you escape, and Edwin shortly thereafter.

There is a certain half-orc introduced in BG:EE that I am quite fond of. GIven that I always play good characters, it's a bit contradictory that the characters I like most are evil, Dorn, Viconia, Edwin, Sarevok Bealoth (I avoid him cause he is a bit overpowered, but his comments are quite amusing). They are mostly quite strong characters in terms of gameplay, so it kinda compensates I guess.

Hm well it is a question, I guess, if it will ever come out.. but given that I am still postponing playing Witcher3, I might wait some time for BG3 as well. Although I might just do a mostly vanilla EET and call it a day.

Totally understand. Another advantage to sticking with the Bioware NPCs is that if/when the IWD-in-EET mod finishes, your party will be full of banters for it.

Yeah, I found out about that IWD-in-EET thing few days ago on this forum, and I am seriously thinking of posponing my BG run until it comes out.. but will it ever. The reason why I came back to BG trilogy is because I wanted to go through it one more time before BG3 comes out and I delve into it (I know the story is mostly not connected, apart from sime easter eggs, but it is the same setting).

I used to dislike any NPC mod / quest mod because I prefer to keep my games as vanilla as possible (for 18 years)

To a certain degree I indetify with that as well, but often the reasons why I avoid custom NPC's is that there are too many of them. I haven't played, or should I say finished BG for more than a decade, and I can't even pick between all the vanilla party members. And my idea here is to play with same five party members throught the game, sixth slot is kinda rotation...

But you did got me thinking about some of those mods, but I think if I go down that rabbit hole I will have to play the whole game 2-3 times.

But those mods that add (quality) content to vanilla NPC, will certainly be included in my list.

  8. Hi,
I am fairly experienced player, although not much experience with modding.. well not with modding Baldur's Gate at least.
I played the game a lot since early 2000s, but I usually get bored and quit before finishing. Beat BGI + TotSC some 5-6 times, on tutu mostly. I only once played right untill the end in ToB.

I found out about EET, and decided to give it a try.. I installed something, but somehow I messed something up which caused a lot of characters and items to be duplicated, it seems most of them are from DTotSC and NTotSC .. and having duplicated items with often different stats, some stronger and some weaker version.

I digress, I don't want to trobuleshoot what went wrong, what I am looking for is a recommendations for mods that make game fun and above all else immersive. Given that I am not that well versed with modding scene for BG trilogy, do you have any recommendations for mods that would suit my style and needs?

-So, no mods that drop dozens upon dozens of +3 items all around.

-From the mods I have seen, I like stuff that mostly tweaks game, like true grand mastery, only charisma influences the prices, no item price deprication, etc..

-Also I like unfinished buissiness, romantic encounters for BG. Stratagems is probably a must.

-I might skip all the big world and big quest mods, although if there are some really good ones, I might give them a try.

-Also I am not interested in 250 new NPC's I have hard time deciding upon a party as it is, and I want to play the game with mostly the same party, start to finish, I'll add Sarevok in ToB. I might accept a new NPC if it feels right and good but most NPC mods that I have seen are boring or / and overpowered.

-The only cheat mode that I plan to use is 'happy party patch' since I am too lazy to bother with finding a way to constantly lower party reputation. I don't think that reputation is a good indicator of alignment anyway.

So mostly looking for mods that add immersive content to exiting NPCs, banters, maybe some magic and items but that doesn't feel overpowered like having a +3 sword three world maps into the game.
