Okay, we admit we've been teasing you a bit with Flirt Previews. But as you've been all restrained and not asked 'Is it done yet? How about now?' (well except some pesky Gibberlings...) we've decided to give you a proper preview of the mod.
This lovetalk is 'Lovetalk 20' so the 10th lovetalk you'll encounter in game (about a third of the way through the total romance). Enjoy!

Heh... alright, a serious question then. What cross-mod content is planned? You've mentioned Auren; is there any other NPC you're planning stuff for?
Behind the scenes we've done a bit of talking about various topics for banters with the other G3 NPCs. And of course her information will be added to the Crossmod Romance Conflicts component. Beyond that we haven't thought much about it yet.

this mod sounds interesting, i shall have to try it out when it is released.
hmm will be weird having both jelina and auren is the same party, seeing as both of their portraits are of actresses from the tv show charmed, lol, not really sure if it can be done or if you would be interested, but some iteraction between these two npcs would be cool, esp if the mentioned aspects of the show, lol
And yes, we're aware that G3 already has an NPC with Rose McGowan's portrait
Well, there almost certainly will be some Crossmod Banter between the two but we will be very careful not to break the fourth-wall. It's possible we might slip the word 'charmed' itself into a banter, but as I said, we want to keep everything serious and in-character i.e. no 'if there's a 3rd edition of this world blah blah blah...'
is there just the one quest for jelina is/will there be more?so removing here from the party her default place is the temple of lathander unless somewhere else is chosen?
Well, you're half right. After the business in the Umars Hills is concluded you have to return to the temple in order to ask the Dawnmaster in charge of her training whether it's okay for her to travel with you for a while (so I guess that could constitute a very mini-quest in addition to her test later). However, if you ditch her from the party she can't just hang around in the temple waiting for you, she has to complete her training i.e. if you ditch her, you won't see her again (until ToB, where you'll have an interesting summoning dialogue - I hope).

She's too beautiful for that.
Heh, however the Charisma attribute doesn't just mean how attractive she is. 13 is still above average and reflects her appearance and general niceness. However, she isn't some amazing diplomat or James Bond's twin sister.

Well, first of all we'd like to thank you guys for the positive reaction to the mod announcement. And as something of a thank you for your support (and because we like watching you squirm
) we thought we'd post a couple of previews of some of the player-initiated flirts.These ones are are for the early stage of the romance:
Player: (Try and catch Jelina's eye.)Jelina: (Looking over at Jelina, you begin to notice the way she absent-mindedly twirls her hair as she walks. Smiling to yourself, you hardly realise when she glances up, catching your gaze. Seeing the docile grin on your face, Jelina giggles, sticking her tongue out at you playfully.)
Player: (Kiss Jelina on the cheek.)Jelina: (Jelina blushes as you approach her, turning a delightful shade of pink. You press your lips to her cheek, but as you do she pulls away suddenly.)
(Jelina looks embarrassed at her own overreaction.) Sorry, <CHARNAME>, you just caught me off guard.
(Moving closer to you, she kisses you softly on the lips, stepping away a moment later. Blushing slightly, you find yourself startled by her affections.) See? Sometimes a little warning is nice.
Here's one from the serious stage of the romance:
Player: (Kiss Jelina passionately.)Jelina: (Wrapping an arm around her waist you pull Jelina towards you roughly, locking lips with hers in a passionate kiss. Clearly enjoying your display of animal lust, Jelina attempts to fight back with her lips in the battle for dominance, but to no avail.)
(After an intense kiss, your lips part and Jelina rewards you with a friendly bite of your lower lip, growling under her panted breath.)
Well we've been promising it for a while so here is a Jelina (interior) bathing flirt:
Player: (Bathe with Jelina.)Jelina: (You walk with Jelina towards the bathing rooms where an apologetic attendant tells you that there is only one room available and it contains a very small bath not suitable for... couples. Slightly disappointed you turn to Jelina, who is already paying the attendant for the use of the room, despite the inadequate facilities.)
(You open the door of the chamber to reveal what you believe to be the smallest bathtub you have ever seen. Despite this, Jelina begins to slowly undress herself, teasing you slightly by leaving her shirt on until the very end. To your surprise, when you begin to unbutton your tunic, Jelina grabs your hand to stop you, looks deep into your eyes and grins. You don't know what her plan is, but you are certain you will enjoy it.)
(Jelina lowers herself into the steaming bath water and beckons you to stand in front of her. Not wanting to miss a moment of what is to come, you hastily comply with her request. You watch carefully as Jelina opens one of the many jars next to the bathtub and pours the contents into her palm and rubs her hands together, producing a glossy lather.)
(As Jelina begins to shamelessly rub the lather seductively onto her wet skin, you understand the meaning of her previous wicked grin. You stand transfixed as she rubs the liquid over her breasts and down her body. Lifting one leg out the water she beckons you forwards, and eagerly awaiting whatever pleasures she has in mind you step as close as possible to the tub's edge without risking falling in.)
(Her toes outstretched, Jelina raises her foot towards your lips and teasingly applies the lather down her slender leg towards her hips. Staring you deep in the eyes, Jelina raises her hand to beckon you even closer. As you lean over her glistening body, Jelina suddenly reaches out and grabs you by the collar, pulling you on top of her, sending most of the contents of the bath shooting over the sides.)
(Kissing you intensely, Jelina rubs her wet hands over your chest before whispering in your ear, sensually.) Shall we retire now, my love?
(Her voice lowers to a deep, sexual growl.) I hope you don't intend to sleep...

In fact the first comments about the entire mod were related to the portrait. Someone, let's call him Suleci, made the comment of 'OMG SO HAWT', and errr... Drini asked 'Who is she and where can I meet her?
' Oh and we'll be releasing the SoA content first, so I guess technically you could play the SoA section with Jelina and then play the ToB Imoen romance.

I noticed no alignment requirements are stated for romancing Jelina. Will there be potential for the NPC to shift allignment herself, like Viconia and Anomen?
Other than her ring, what starting equipment will Jelina posses? Knowing her proficiencies would also be welcomed information if you are willing to share it.
Nope no alignment shifting. While she has no restrictions based on you alignment (i.e. no preconceptions about you) if during lovetalks you act in particularly evil ways, she may end up breaking the romance with you (or leaving in some cases).
As for her starting equipment it's pretty basic really. Off the top of my head she has her ring, studded leather armour, a regular mace (it might be +1), a bog standard silver amulet and some healing potions. Most of her profiency points have been spent in maces (as that's the favoured weapon of Lathander).

Well, it's finally time for us to show off the little project we've been working on. Jelina is an NPC that Alarielle and I have been working on, on and off, for the past two years. She is a female fighter/cleric of Lathander who can be met in the Umar Hills.
'When asked about her past, JELINA smiles sadly. She tells you that ten years ago, she and her father travelled to Athkatla where he died after a vampire attack, leaving her as an orphan. After his death, she was taken in by the Temple of Lathander where she began her training as both warrior and missionary, under the watchful eye of her teacher, Dawnmaster Eran. Over the years, he became like a father to her, caring for her when she had no one. When he announced that he was to journey to the Umar Hills to act as a missionary, she begged to be sent with him. His teachings have given Jelina a strong determination to serve the Morninglord in all she does and to one day complete her training as a priest.'
Once the mod is complete she will have a romance for a male human/half-elf/elf protagonist.

So is she a kitted multiclass? i.e. Fighter/Cleric of Lathander?
No. For one, she hasn't taken her test yet so it wouldn't be right for her to have the Cleric of Lathander kit. Secondly, while occasionally we like to bend the rules and think from a 3E perspective, BG2 does not have kitted multiclasses and we want Jelina to blend in nicely with the existing BioWare NPCs.
Does she have any items?
Yes, she has a simple ring that she was given by her teacher:

Why does she worship Lathander, instead of an Elven deity?
Although she was brought up with an elven deity, she never really found what she was looking for in faith (if she was looking for faith at all). However, when she was taken in by the temple after her father's death, Lathander filled a hole in life.
How old is Jelina? If she's younger than 120 then the romance counts as paedophilia, right?
The short answer is no. We haven't firmly established Jelina's age, but it's certainly way less than 120. However that's not paedophilia.
As for a longer answer, the point is that while 120 is the age when an elf 'comes of age' it doesn't mean that they are a helpless child below that age. I've never seen anything to suggest that elves emotionally and mentally mature at a significantly slower rate than humans. I just assume that as they live a much longer time, their concept of 'you're quite young' is different to our own. All you need to know is that she'll act like a human 20-something i.e. she can handle herself in the big bad world most of the time, but she's still quite young really. And as the protagonist is also supposedly a 20-something themselves, that makes the romance just fine.

Of course. Basically, once the two of you have talked about you being a Bhaalspawn mutual flirting can begin.

If you don't intend to finish it please say it out clearly and let others do it! Or ask for help! Or something! Let's not make another unfinished and "forgotten for ever" mod out of this one! Please?

If you wish to discuss writing your own Haer'dalis romance, this is not the best place for it.However, and I'm not meaning to be rude, I've noticed that a lot of recent activity here has been what could be considered spam, posts on totally unrelated topics and general conversation. Spam is unnecesary. Topics unrelated to JPS' Haer'dalis romance should find a home elsewhere (possibly General Mod Discussion or Noobermeet depending on the topic). And conversation is better suited to IRC channels and IM programs.

Well, you can create a ranger kit, if that's what you mean. You can't make your own class.
Now assuming you want to make a kit, a lot of the information is already in Cam's 4-part tutorial. What exactly are you wanting to do?

Is Player 2 considered to also be a Bhaalspawn? Is the romance for Player 2 written as if Player 2 was also a Bhaalspawn?
Unless something has radically changed since I last looked at it, no. In fact that's the major difference between the Player 1 and Player 2 romances.

Okay on the tp2, this should be your setup. You have your BG2 directory and inside that is a folder which you've named MyMod. There is also your Setup-MyMod.tp2 and the Setup-MyMod.exe (which is what you are running).
As for Mykit.kit, is there is no file for the kit as whole. This tp2 code that you've been copying and pasting is the code for the kit. You only need to copy stuff across if you have some spells, for example, that your kit requires as abilities. As you don't seem to have that just remove that line.

Well, the foundations were already written before Japh disappeared. He was having trouble with some of IWD's funkier commands, but Fred will be the IWD master when he finishes IWD1tutu, so there's always hope...
