  1. A proposal

just continue the game and see what the dungeon looks like in EET. Once you are out of the dungeon and left the Promenade, you can reach City Gates and the worldmap. You can go back to any old map where you may have stored stuff - provided you still want it by that time. The EET world is less restrictive in that. And you may have some mod component installed that already provides you with some past items.

Playing a new game allows to make new game experience.

  2. How would one restrict access to an area after it was revealed, then?

I might be able to perform a switch like it is done for D'Arnise Keep, but I'd prefer a restricted access for the SoA area in ToB.

K4thos does that for the BG City areas after SoD. He explains it somewhere in this forum.

    http://gibberlings3.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=27774&page=2&do=findComment&comment=243915 this may be helpful.

  3. I am asking for a mod added area like it is by Ascalon's Breagar, for example. While in SoA accessible after getting the quest to go there, going there in ToB is handled by teleportation - and the .are file is a differetn one.

Access to the original SoA area is not intended. Would the area still be accessible from the ToB Worldmap?

Is there a ToB Worldmap in EET, or is it all one?

If I want to add an area to the ToB Worldmap, how would I do that?

EET uses one single worldmap. Adding both SoA and ToB version means the area exists twice. http://gibberlings3.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=27749

You will have access to the worldmap and all the areas you have visited before as soon as you reach the first outdoor area of ToB, the overland area outside Saradush AR6400.

  4. I redid the installation with an updated EET_functions.tph. The only thing that changed is the position of the reply options in fatesp.dlg (in between the NPC it should proceed). First post is edited accordingly.

There is one thing easily forgotten. The EET world all hangs together. The Fate Spirit option is from a time/game where you were limited to the ToB map after transition. EET is far more realistic as it allows you to go to the whole worldmap you know. If you want to pick up an old companion from Copper Coronet, just take a trip...

I have extended some older mods like Chloe with new ToB contents and the ways to have her in ToB is by either having her in party at SoA end or to go back to where you left her.

Preservation is about the only argument for Fate Spirit in EET. It is an oddity, and slightly immersion breaking but maybe this is something you can only experience if you play EET yourself. I have played EET a couple of times now, and I simply ignore the Fate Spirit completely.

  5. ThisModder's Notes.html is the one contained in latest EET.

Honestly speaking, I never used it for any of the NPCs I did in EET just for the reason you state.

There is no sense in summoning a continuous NPC for a ToB only game. The result is a crappy stooge you just carry around to hold a sword for you or serve as a meat shield.

It was k4thos decision to support a ToB only game with EET. For me this makes no sense at all, I simply ignore this.

  6. Thanks. In my opinion the fight makes a lot more sense this way, indeed.

For compatibility, just keep in mind that "NTGGHOTA" will not die (unless the group manages to kill him before the HPLT(50) dialogue triggers.) Dead("NTGGHOT1") is the trigger to check whether General Ghotal has died.

    Thanks!

    Good to know.

    A single

    +OR(2)

    Dead("NTGGHOTA")

    Dead("NTGGHOT1")

    will do it for me

  7. NTotSC v2.1.0 is now released. Unless there are bugs this will be the final version from my side.

    Link: Latest Release NTotSC

For BG:EE, this version doesn't need the BP-BGTWorldmap mod for the new areas to be accessible via the worldmap.

Ajantis BG1 Expansion updates to v11 and is directly compatible with EET and also deals with SoD. Ajantis will not stay in SoD but there will be some content in case the PC is engaged with him.

Download Link Ajantis BG1 Expansion v11

The list has been updated with these.

  8. Yes and yes.

Ghotal was spawned twice in the BGT mod, the first at the entrance had death variable "NTGGHOTA" and the second one is "NTGGHOT1". The way it is solved now the first one never dies but DestroySelf() if HP get too low... Maybe this isn't such a good idea? I was trying to make sense of the doubled General Ghotal in the dungeon.

    Thank you for confirmation.

I think the Ghotal solution sounds fine, it must have been intended to be that way originally, the second one makes sense only if the general retreats after the initial battle to regain forces and you follow him deeper into the tomb for the final showdown.

  9. Two quick questions (for compatibility)

-General Ghota will no longer drop Sarevok's chaos sword
-General Ghota at the entrance will teleport away during the fight, then the player has to fight the second one inside the dungeon ("NTGGHOT1")

Q: Ghotal will still have his conversation at the entrance before the fight breaks out and then moves deeper into the dungeon for the second fight?

-reduced number of cultists in AR61PB.are (temple of Black Hand) for difficulty lower than hard

Q: This only applies for the unnamed cultists (reinforcements), I suppose?

  10. Interesting! Is it from the same modder(s)? These mods are from before my time (i.e. already legends when I started being active).

There is some overlap of people who worked on original DSotSC and NTotSC but no connection to CtB.

It is just a tip of the hat from one modder to another from a time where such things were still possible without calling for a lawyer...

  11. Super helpful BUT I'm going to ask about more complicated alternatives.

The general question: how do strongholds interact? I think a mod (CDTweaks?) allows you to get any stronghold, but only one. So your cleric of Tempus can get the fighter stronghold, and then will not be offered any if the cleric strongholds. Or, you can pass on the fighter stronghold and then have a chance to get a cleric stronghold.

Is that relatively easy? Or complicated?

Because here's the specific question: maybe my mod wants to allow my added Tempus kit to take Nalia's Keep as a stronghold. Also, it contains a cleric/thief kit called "druid/thief" which is, y'know, a druid/thief. So that one should get access to the druid grove stronghold, and not one of the temples.

Another mod of mine adds a version of "demibards" - rogues with bardic characteristics, but no spellcasting, and appearing in the thief class. They would be better off with the bard's theater, rather than membership in the thieves's guild. On the other hand one of them is modeled on the 2E 'Herald' kit, and that one (also a thief kit) should probably get the fighter stronghold.

We also have a bunch of ranger kits that are actually devoted to specific deities, and they should probably get the cleric or paladin stronghold.

Aquadrizzt has a mod that converts monks entirely into thief kits - which enables multiclass monks. But they should probably get the cleric or fighter stronghold - not the thieves' guild.

Etc., etc., etc. It would be amazing if we could compile some more general guidance for manipulating strongholds. Maybe even try to create a library of DLG-specific patches that modders could hook into at the time their kit is installed.

The main difference between the cleric stronghold (and hence the reason for this thread) is the fact that multiple *stronghold-givers* are involved, depending on your protagonist.

All other strongholds have simple triggers - you have already a stronghold (or not) and your class qualifies (or not). Those checks are simply done in the dialogue of e.g. Nalia, Lavok etc. You can add triggers and variations very easily to those dialogues.

The only complex one is the cleric one as outlined in the OP.

It is also straight forward to add another party member to qualify for a stronghold if the protagonist does not qualify. (The only thing that made NPC Stronghold mod complex was the additional idea that the respective NPC would also be responsible for all the following stronghold quests and what to do if that one was kicked out or dead etc).

In a drow library accessible from the Umar Hill Cave, there are all kinds of books and scrolls.

Among them is a History of Dragonspear (the mod is more than a decade older than SoD)

    And this item CBBK7555

    Excerpt:

Conchobhair originally hails from Waterdeep. He is the younges of four sons of the very influential Strongblade family in Waterdeep. However, being the youngest he had little hope of inheriting much of the family's holdings, so he set out to make a life for himself when he reached the age of twenty. He started his training as a paladin and spent a few years lifing the virtous life of the paladin. However, he eventually felt too restricted with the discipline and wished for something with more glory. On one of his treks from Waterdeep to Baldur's Gate, he met a warrior by the name of Fergus Ravenskill.

Fergus was a very valiant warrior and had spent most of his fifty-six years on the battle field. Conchobhair had spent a few months on the road with Ravenskill and his tales of greate battles intrigued him. However, it was not until Fergus told him of his encounter with a blue dragon that Conchobhair decided to make a life change. He asked Fergus to train and teach him everything that the older warrior knew. He spent six years training with Fergus in the ways of a seasoned warrior and even took positions as mercenaries for a few of the larger cities in the area.

One fateful day brought Fergus and Conchobhair face to face with a Red Dragon. This was a dragon that Fergus had encountered some twenty years prior, in which Fergus had injured it by blinding it in one eye. The dragon was bent on seeking his revenge and the opportunity presented itself. Fergus died in the attack, suffering multiple burns from the blazing breath weapon and Conchobhair escaped with minor burns and wounds. It was on this day that he vowed to destroy any dragon that presented a threat to the Realms and to find the dragon that killed his friend and mentor.

The Life and Loves of Jet'Laya: A Memoir

    Excerpt:

Being of noble birth Jet'Laya's "uncle" Lennan went out into the world seeking adventure. Upon his journey he meet and had his life saved a few times by Jet'Laya's furture father, Torvin. After traveling together for some time and becoming close friends, her father and "uncle" returned to Cormanthor. Once in the city, Lennan introduced Torvin to his father, a wealthy and powerful noble. Being quite impressed with Torvin and being thankful for his actions of courage- saving Lennan's life- he fought to get Torvin accepted into the city. He was successful, and Torvin quickly became liked by most; eventually falling in love with Jet'Laya's mother, who was one of Cormanthor's healers. Their marriage was looked down upon by several members in the society, forcing them to live near the edge of the forest.

When Jet'Laya and her twin brother were six, Cormanthor was attacked by a group of undead, led by a young brash Vampire. She and her brother were hidden in safety, while the elves defended the city. The entire group of attackers were killed, however the elves also incurred several casualties, including Jet'Laya's parents. Her older sister was never found and presumed dead as well. Seeing her parents killed was a constant source of nightmares for Jet'Laya, and she vowed revenge for her parents death upon all undead. Despite the best efforts of her Uncle Lennan and her twin brother, who seemed less affected by his parents deaths, she could not be swayed from her path and left as soon as her training, as she called it, was complete.

    Removed

    • Generalized Biffing
  15. The initial post of the thread should be updated. The reference to the BWP PDF file for EET install order is obsolete, and also the usability of the book for mod dependencies/conflicts is only partly relevant for the mod versions used in EE/EET.

Without expert knowledge and experience for interpretation of the guide, it is no longer recommended to use a source that is written with a BGT installation for classic games in mind.

  16. Finally, i've reached BG2EE today. However, after Maevar asked me to go the third floor and meet Edwin, he didn't show up... I guess we have a problem here...

Luckily, i can "summoned" him by using console code and everything is fine afterward.

Using console, what did you do, CreateCreature("Edwin7") ? Which was Edwin when he was in party?

Do you have a savegame of it, with a situation before you created Edwin?

There were some reports about something similar happening with Imoen if she got chunked dead n BG1, she could not spawn later. I never saw this reported with Edwin though. If I remember, K4thos fixed this for Imoen in EET, maybe he forgot Edwin...

  17. You need to look into campaign.2da

If you want to create your own campaign, you need to add it there. Then you can define all the other reference files it shall use for startpoint, xp etc.

You also need to add your campaign to the selection screens (there was a thread here in the forum about that, just search for it.)

Startbp.2da is just one example, As you can see in campaign.2da it defines some settings for BP=Black Pits

  18. The effect is probably temporary; but it doesn't matter, because once the spell is not in your spellbook, it's not there. With innate abilities it might appear again after the duration expires (and maybe after then resting). But with wizard spells, at least, the expiration of the removal effect does not put the spell back.

Which is fine. I'm much more interested in what happens with memorized spells. If memorized spells are preserved, I have a method to get around the spellbook issue and it would let us do wild things with opcode 214.

I was reminded of a discussion we had about two years ago on the issue of removing innate abilities
