I have several infinity engine games in progress including planescape torment. I would like to change BG II resolution with the Wide Screen Mod. Will it also change Planescape thereby messing up my game in progress with crashes?

No, it won't. This mod - like other WeiDU mods - needs to be installed in the folder of the game you want to modify. If you want to use the same mod with multiple games, you'll have to install the mod separately for each game.
