Non-Casting Clerics

In the BG I portion of the game I've noticed several enemy clerics that, rather than casting spells, go immediately into melee and continue to do so for the duration of combat.

 

I was taking a look at some of them and it looks like they have the right script. In Mulahey's case he as the script DW#1ECL3.BCS, yet he never cast a spell in my recent test. Any idea why this is?

Aha. I do know why it should make a difference. OK, for the moment I'd recommend just not using that component of Item Revisions with SCS. I'll fix it when I get a chance.

Happened to me once too. Game worked fine when I uninstalled this:

ITEM_REV/ITEM_REV.TP2~ #0 #2 // Spellcasting in Armor -> Allow Spellcasting in Armor with a Chance of Arcane Casting Failure: v2 (Hotfix 20100919)

But I don't know why that should make a difference

 

Aha. I do know why it should make a difference. OK, for the moment I'd recommend just not using that component of Item Revisions with SCS. I'll fix it when I get a chance.

:) Is there something we should do? Afaik the component does what it says without errors. :D

Item Revision (and similar components from other armor revisions) are fine. SCSII checks against SPELLFAILUREMAGE even when casting clerical spells; as such, a priest wearing heavy armor will have high SPELLFAILUREMAGE and won't cast clerical spells.
