shillelagh bugged?

i don't know how many of youse guys use this spell (after playing with it in BG1 i've come to love it for low-level fights), but I've had the startling discovery that this spell is bugged.

 

As per IWD text, it allegedly uses Staff Proficiency. However, actually using it on druids indicates that it is not Staff Proficiency. In fact, it is not any proficiency that a druid can have (I suspected it might have been club, but alas, not that either).

 

I'm using IWD vanilla with 1.06 and fixpack. Any of yinz use HoW and can attest to whether this is something that is broken across all versions? or just silently fixed in HoW and not in the fixpack.

just to note, the way I can tell that this is bugged is that my THAC0 jumps up from being 20 to 22, whereas it's 19 normally when I have a quarter staff equipped at level 1.

no visible change tho the fixpack did place a copy into the override folder.

 

I see no evidence of Thac0 jumping as high as you say.

 

use DLTCEP or NI to look up sppr110.spl in your game and see what the resource file (item being created) is in the Create Magic Weapon effect. It could be possible that the vanilla uses the 2nd item version I mentioned and HOW or TOTLM fixed it. That would account for the jump in Thac0 that you are seeing...
