Onox Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Hi, I think some component of the tweak pack is preventing the racial Elf bonus with bows and short/long swords from being taken into account. In BGEE, I created a new Elf protagonist, and he only gets the "-1 Elf" bonus for Daggers and Short Swords, and not for Long Swords or any Bows. If I remove everything I have in my override folder, the problem goes away : I get the bonus for Short Swords, Long Swords, and Bows (I think you are not supposed to get the bonus for Daggers, Bastard Swords, Two-Handed Swords, Katanas and Scimtars/Wakizashis/Ninjatos.) I verified that in BG2EE without any mods the Elf bonus seems to work correctly too (I haven't started playing BG2:EE yet ). I'll try to find where the problem comes from exactly. UPDATE : the issue comes from the component Alter Weapon Proficiency System. I had the "Use BG1 weapon proficiences system, with weapon styles" variant installed. The tweak pack is the only mod that I have installed : // Log of Currently Installed WeiDU Mods // The top of the file is the 'oldest' mod // ~TP2_File~ #language_number #component_number // [subcomponent Name -> ] Component Name [ : Version] ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #40 // Peau bleue pour Viconia: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #60 // Animation des armes amelioree: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #110 // Amelioration des icones des objets: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #120 // Changer d'avatar lors du port d'une robe ou d'une armure (Galactygon): v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #130 // Mode pause dans tous les dialogues: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #140 // Correction du cri de Bouh: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #1080 // Ajouter des sacs de contenance: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #1090 // Pack d'objets exotiques: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #1120 // Plus de munitions dans les boutiques: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #1150 // Reequilibrage du metamorphe: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #2020 // Epees batardes a deux mains: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #2030 // Katanas a deux mains: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #2035 // Haches a deux mains: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #2040 // Gourdins universels: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #2090 // Changer la limite de points d'experience -> Retirer la limite: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #2151 // Port de plusieurs objets de protection -> Pas de restrictions: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #2161 // Modifier le systeme des competences martiales -> Style BG1, avec les styles de combat (the bigg): v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #2170 // Lancement les sorts depuis les parchemins (et autres objets) au niveau du personnage: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #2210 // Veritable grande maitrise (Baldurdash): v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #2240 // Table debridee des TAC0: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #2250 // Table de progression des sorts du sorcier debridee: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #2261 // Alterer la table de progression des sorts du mage -> Table P&P: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #2271 // Alterer la table de progression des sorts du barde -> Table P&P: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #2281 // Alterer la table de progression des sorts du clerc -> Table P&P: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #2291 // Alterer les tables de progression des sorts et de niveaux du druide -> Pas de modification de la progression, table P&P des sorts des clercs et druides uniquement: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #2320 // Suppression de la limite du nombre de pieges (Ardanis/GeN1e): v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #2330 // Suppression du delai pour les pieges magiques (Ardanis/GeN1e): v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #3000 // Plus de points de vie a la montee de niveau -> Maximum: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #3012 // Points de vie maximum pour les PNJs (the bigg) -> Pour les PNJs recrutables uniquement: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #3070 // Changer l'effet de la reputation sur les prix dans les boutiques -> Prix reduits dans les boutiques pour les faibles reputations (Sabre): v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #3080 // Empilement illimite des munitions: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #3090 // Empilement illimite des gemmes et des bijoux: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #3100 // Empilement illimite des potions: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #3110 // Empilement illimite des parchemins: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #3120 // Patch du bonheur (les PNJs du groupe ne se plaignent pas de la reputation) -> Les PNJs ne sont jamais en colere a propos de la reputation: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #3190 // Repos possible partout (Japheth): v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #3200 // Batons, gourdins et frondes vendables (Icelus): v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #4000 // Ajuster le jet de reputation des PNJs mauvais recrutables: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #4020 // PNJs style ToB: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #4031 // Caracteristiques coherentes : Edwin -> Valeurs de BG2: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #4041 // Caracteristiques coherentes : Jaheira -> Valeurs de BG2: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #4050 // Changer l'alignement de Jaheira en "Neutre Bon": v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #4061 // Caracteristiques coherentes : Minsc -> Valeurs de BG2: v14 ~BG2_TWEAKS/SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.TP2~ #2 #4071 // Caracteristiques coherentes : Viconia -> Valeurs de BG2: v14
Onox Posted January 27, 2014 Author Posted January 27, 2014 I have another question : isn't the True Grandmastery tweak useless for the Enhanced Editions ? From the manuals and the in-game description and results, it seems to me that the EE already use the same table as the one from the original BG1 game/True Grandmastery
Jarno Mikkola Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 I have another question : isn't the True Grandmastery tweak useless for the Enhanced Editions ? From the manuals and the in-game description and results, it seems to me that the EE already use the same table as the one from the original BG1 game/True Grandmastery Erhm, nope. The BGEE uses the BG2 type weapon proficiency model... meaning that the Long Swords are Longswords, unlike they were in BG1 where the Longswords were Large Swords, as were two handed swords and Bastard Swords... daggers were small swords, and while all the war hammers, flails, quarterstaffs and maces were Blunt weapons... there's a great lot of difference... in that the BG1 system allows the same points put into a fewer styles and thus the bonus increases in many similar weapons.

Hi Jarno, you misunderstood my question - but it is my fault, I should not have asked this in the same topic because it's unrelated. This second question was about the True Grandmastery tweak, which controls what bonuses you get as you add pips to your weapon proficencies. Anyway, I think I have answered the question myself through more testing and checking the wspecial.2da file. Please correct me if I am wrong, but I have found that the only difference between BGEE with and without True Grandmastery is that you get an extra +1 attack when going from 4 pips to 5 with the tweak, whereas you only get +1/2 without it (Therefore, a level 12 warrior with 5 pips in a weapon prof gets 5/2 attacks per round without the tweak, and 3 with the tweak). This means that BGEE without True Grandmastery is much closer to the original BG1 game than BG2 with its nerfed table (by the way, I noticed that the description in the original BG2 manual of the damage for each proficiency pip is wrong : you get 0/+2/+2/+3/+4 damage and not 0/+2/+2/+2/+3 as the manual states). However, could you tell in which file the number of attacks per round depending on the number of proficiency points are stored ? I don't know much about modding, and I am surprised it isn't in the same file.

I don't know much about modding, and I am surprised it isn't in the same file. It's the "wspatck.2da" file... this is the vanilla BG2. The reason it's not in the same table, is that it's level dependent... and thus my later point: Therefore, a level 12 warrior with 5 pips in a weapon prof gets 5/2 attacks per round without the tweak, and 3 with the tweak). Ha, see the first warrior +1/2 attack speed is given at level 7, which makes your example very weak... look at the wspatck.2da file and you see it. If I remember correctly, the "true grandmastery" tweak get's its name from the fact that it is what the BG1s table was originally giving you, but it was removed from the BG2 as everything was capped at level 20 etc. to try to balance things out.Edit: Ahh, yep ! I was right. I noticed that the description in the original BG2 manual of the damage for each proficiency pip is wrong The BG2 manual is wrong in so many places it's not a good reference for a particular things at all... the games descriptions are what you should consider native to the game. Yeah, the warriors are Fighters, Paladins, Rangers and Barbarian classed characters, and their kits.
butzemann Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 The BG1 proficiencies (v16) still mess up the weapon race bonus.
