Change rest duration for elves?

Toril's elves require only half the resting time that humans (among other races) do to gain the benefits of a rest, so they're refreshed after four hours, rather than eight. Is there a way to reflect this in the game? If so, would it require a script, or would it be handled another way?

Whenever you press the "party rest" button, characters' dream scripts kick in, so the best you can do is to play with PLAYER1D to spend less time on rest if the party is made up entirely of elves. But I won't vouch it will not also block the processing of other NPCs' dream scripts.
