Looting would put an uninteractive item in inventory effectively destroying an inventory space. Removing "stratagems:3505;Sword Coast Stratagems - Wider selection of random scrolls" resolved the issue. Containers should evaluate rndtres.2da, so while SCS not creating dummy items to it's random treasure could be an issue, it shouldn't affect containers. rndtres.2da functionality debuted in patch 2.0 AFAIK. Additionally, RandomGraionTweaks' Bag of Spilling installs dummy items to all random treasures to prevent blocking the inventory slot, incase a random treasure end up in a place where it wouldn't evaluated. That should include SCS spell scrolls when installed after. Quote Link to comment
jmerry Posted February 3, 2023 Share Posted February 3, 2023 I know some versions of SCS have had problems with this in the component for a wider selection of random scrolls, even on up-to-date EE versions. The component works by creating new random level N scroll tokens and converting existing random treasures into them. This may have been fixed in v34, but I haven't installed that version on anything so I can't be sure. Items in containers are definitely affected. Some items show up entirely blank, as "null". These failed the conversion at installation and there's nothing you can do about them. Picking them up is also harmless. Other items show up as something like "Invalid: 9999". These were converted into the new tokens, but the evaluation failed at runtime. Picking those items up consumes an inventory space with an undroppable "item", but there is a workaround - leave the area and return to reroll it. Quote Link to comment

If the evaulation failed, then it will fail next time as well. It's not timing what triggers the evaluation, but events themselves and this is the scenario which can be resolved via the rndtres.2da entry having a valid droppable ITM file. My intentional workaround for this one is to just let the item moved out and dropped to the floor to trigger the randomization. I never seen the other scenario with the SCS component. TBH, I didn't seen this one either with SCS alone, only after I started gathering the spilled SCS items with the Bag of Spilling and the potion component or the SCS marker items pushing out the scrolls.
