  1. For clarity, this is Skie: The Cost of One Girl's Soul, a generally well-received mod for BG2EE & EET.  (Its author made another Skie for BGII mod that Cost of One Girl's Soul replaced.)

LCA, I would prefer if the Corwin from this mod is a continuous NPC on EET.  This means whatever class, items, and stats/tomes she has stays between games (SoD & SoA in this case).

    Thankee!

  2. With GitHub being so readily available, should the policy change regarding hosting mods?  There were various SHS-hosted mods that someone backed up elsewhere and I was very glad they did because archive.org didn't let me download them!  (Likely they were too big.)

SHS is like a museum:  It may be interesting to see certain old relics, but they're old and generally forgotten because they're also generally impractical to use.  Just because my grandma loved her rotary telephone doesn't mean I want to use it, even though it has or had historical or/and personal significance.  On the other hand, someone had to make all the mods that went onto SHS and love their work enough to release it as they did.

Maybe others noticed this as well, but SHS seemed to be the weakest link of the Infinity Engine modding sites in recent times:  Yes, there was a lot of stuff hosted there but the site was not mobile-friendly, and the servers were down often enough to make many generally avoid the place.

  3. I don't resist.  Making everything base 18 at character creation is fast and effective and low maintenance.

I've played enough of D&D to realize that PCs - especially at low levels - need the boost.  At a certain point, having base 18s in everything doesn't matter much compared to more brute forced manually rolled stats.

Everyone benefits from a high DEX, CON, and their main stat (INT for INT-based casters, WIS for WIS-based casters, STR for melee, and CHA for certain modded classes).  This means for example, a melee Cleric benefits from a high STR, DEX, CON, and WIS, and doesn't care much about INT & CHA.  A pure Fighter, Thief, or Fighter/Thief can dump INT, WIS, and CHA at 9 each, put 18 in STR, DEX, and CON, and only spend 81 points while being fine.

Some classes have effective inherent caps to stats:  Many classes don't fully benefit from a CON higher than 16, and STR mostly matters if you plan to melee.  A pure Wizard with 18 STR and d4 HD probably won't be meleeing much.

(I know various mods like Scales of Balance change the effects of certain stats, but main stats are main stats regardless.)

  4. I played with a friend in multiplayer who loved the randomness.  His WIld Mage once gated a demon into the sewer beneath Athkatla and we fled.  He also accidentally Wild Surged himself into a girl, and Wild Surged a nag from the Copper Coronet into a man, making her voiced lines with him even funnier!

There's also the mechanical benefit of having access to all spell schools and a bonus spell slot per spell level with the possibility of hijinx hurting or helping you.
