4-in-1 Box Set DVD version of BG1 + ToSC

I use Windows 7 with the PC-DVD 4-in-1 set of Baldur's gate 1, 2 and the exp. packs. The gameswork fine in their original versions, and I have all 4 installed.

Here is the text from my Setup-Widescreen.debug file that I was instructed to post on this forum. Sorry for posting the text, I don't know where to post file attachments, and its pretty small anyway. The setup program fails to patch the .exe file. Thanks

Re-install somewhere NOT in "Program Files"...

I use Windows 7 x64 with the PC-DVD 4-in-1 set of Baldur's gate 1, 2 and the exp. packs. The gameswork fine in their original versions, and I have all 4 installed.

It actually doesn't... But more on that later.

 

What you need to first do is disable the Ures Account Control, and the Program Compatibility Assistant, you do the UAC from:

Control Panel -> User Accounts and Family Safety -> User Accounts -> Change Your User Account Control settings... set to the bottom most option and done...

You then do the PCA from:Start -> type to the console: gpedit.msc and start it, then User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Application Compatibility

Double click the option "Turn off Program Compatibility Assistant", and inside its configuration mark the "Enabled" -> Apply -> OK. Restart the computer.

 

You then should install the game like Dakk suggested into some other folder, the C:\Games\Baldur's Gate\ -folder is nice example of good directory, you then need to repatch the game with the v(1.3.)5512 patch, as the 4-in-1's version is the 5521 one, which is not supported by the Widescreen mod, because it's partly faulty... as it contains non-tested Direct-x content, as it's a beta. As this is the problem you have, you need to do the others too. All the patches can be found in here.

 

You then need to install any other BG1 mod you wish to use, then the Widescreen mod, and then you can re-enable the PCA and UAC, but I haven't as the computer really doesn't need them...
