I think Demi was saying, if the weapon is *not* cursed, and you are in a berserk state, you can switch to another weapon to end the berserk state. Which is kind of unfortunate, if true.

If you are in a berserk state, you can't select the character, as it's uncontrollable(yellow selection circle).

This doesn't include the altered Berserker state that is not an actually a proper Berserk state but a controllable one with buffs, just like the Barbarians rage state.

 

As the cursed berserk state was never controllable in BG1.

Minsc's berserk is also the cursed version, rather than like Korgan's.
