Nashkel Crash

Recommended Posts

Hi! I have this terribly annoying problem with crashes in Nashkel. I play with BGT and lots of mods. The crash happens right after I enter this area. I can't find any solution. I read a lot about failinf scripts etc. I'm not sure what tp think bout it.

Hello

What actual error do you get?

Your install order seems a bit random as well

I re-ordered what you posted above, using the BWP 19.2 order

You could try re-intalling everything in that order and see if it helps

try this.7z 3.29 kB · 0 downloads

I took a long, long time to put them in order, I though It should be right. I bet, copying and pasting that to Weidu is not going to work, huh? I have to re-install everything manually? That might be a bit annoying, but... I guess, I'll try.

Also, I'm not getting any errors. Game just closed up, and no info showed up

Did you get an error log in your game folder?

You might need to enable it.

right click on baldur.ini and add the following under [Program Options]

Debug Mode=1

Logging On=1

Then save the file and start the game again and replicate the problem and then see if you get an error log in the game folder.

If you do, post it here and other people who know lots more than me might be able to help, but im thinking your install order is probably the main cause.

Yeah, pretty much. Safest to start from scratch.

Jarno wrote a big long guide about megamodding over at SpellholdStudios, probably worth giving that a read too.

Mod install order is really important for a lot of stuff, and seems like a nightmare to sort out, which is why I rely on other peoples hard work.

And Alien's Project Infinity makes installing lots of mods much easier, you just need to spend a bit of time working out how to use it and getting everything in the right place before you start. Can save a load of hassle in the long run

I didn't get any error. Debug and Logging on is enabled btw. Yeah, maybe it's the order. You think I can keep my last save, which is in area above Nashkel on the world map and then re-install mods and use the save again? Hopefully, it won't give me any crashes afterwards bc of using that save.

Have a look at the readme for Aurora, it recommends installing it fairly late in the install order, and has a troubleshooting section, but it would probably be best to do a fresh install before looking at trying to troubleshoot it as where you've currently got it installed may be the main issue.

And in regard to reusing an old save, again im far from an expert but its generally not a good idea, too much to go wrong.

Ye, one person told me that this may cause problems. I also suddenly remember that someone on YT made a playthrough of Trilogy Megamod and mentioned that it may be quite buggy. But maybe if I won't re-install everything, just uninstall this particular mod, it might work.

You think that causes the  crash?

I'm pretty sure, if you uninstall it and use your old save before Nashkel you should be safe. You could also go to Larswood right away, if you get crash there too ( something is wrong with deep gnome animations ) you could be 100% sure that it is Aurora.

Ok, so I removed Aurora Shoes. It seems that was the problem I think. But all of my saves got corrupted, and it crashes me to desktop whenever I load them. I started new game, I'll get to that moment once again and I think it'' work. In case something goes wrong again, I''ll let ya know. Thank you two for all your help, good wishes! 😄

You are welcome but on the second ( more careful ) glance on your install order in your weidu I noticed that you installed world map very early. You should change that ASAP and install it after all big quest mods which use it, ideally close to the end of installation.

I mean as far as I know Dark Side of the Sword Coast (mod for BG1) must be installed after World map. So does Check the Bodies and a few others. Those are big mods that needs to be installed almost at the beginning to work. Some of the mods requires worldmap to be installed earlier as well. Which means that I cannot really install the Worldmap so high up on the list.
