  1. Contingencies and Triggers I am not a fan (understatment) of Contingencies (and even less Sequencers). If it was my decision they would be swept away from the game. The proposed change does not seem to make much different to its present situation so I am rather neutral about it. Web Instead of removing the malus to the saving throw, I would keep things the way they are but allow for melee-only attacks with severe THAC0 penalty (-4 or -5).
  2. While I also believe Conjuration spells should bypass MR in a perfect world, I fear this change would make Conjuration magic really stand out as the most effective school of magic by far. Since Conjuration is, in my opinion, already one of the most effective schools of magic, granting their spell such a strong feat as bypass MR might unbalance things (I, for once, would immediately create a specialist Conjurer )
  3. Well, if we were to make the spell partially party friendly a high levels, I wouldn't mind say at level 10 it's damage to be 100% party hitting, while at level 20: if it hits a party member they would only suffer 75% of the damage full damage... and at level 50: only be 25% of full damage is suffered by the party members(+ saves of course to reduce more). And why should it be like that? What kind of reason would there be behind such an illogical behaviour? The party friendliness of a spell should not depend on the expertise of the caster, in my opinion. And that's because it's up to those affected by the spell that should try and defend against it. Or should we think that a fireball cast by a high level mage could just present itself with some holes here and there conveniently created by the skilled mage in order to spare his companions from the effects of the spell?
  4. And what kind of logic would there be behind a same spell being party-friendly for enemy AI and not for players (or viceversa, of course)?
  5. You realize that this would be a solution offered as part of ToBEx, right? This is exactly why I was trying and promote ToBEx. It has the potential (and it has proved it already) to overcome engine limitations and engine bugs. I realize also that I should have brought the discussion to where it maybe belongs: the Fixpack Forum. The only thing that held me from doing it was that ToBEx offers a very wide arrange of tweaks that have nothing to do with the concept of Fixpack.
  6. Yes. I still think your own perspective on the whole subject is the best:
  7. I would definitely go for Ardanis' suggestion but I would limit the penalty to Constitution to a single day.
  8. This is true only for the "Planar Binding" serie of spells, in BG terms a very limited amount of summoning spells (vanilla's Genies, Conjure Elementals, and gated demons). And considering only summoned demons still work this way I'd say such point could be valid only for them. What you say is certainly true. But then why not grant XP for at least the summoned demons? It would fit both concept and game balance since such XP gain would only be limited to them.
  9. It's an interesting debate and both parties have point and merit. Still I am on Daulmakan's side in the end. This because, just in opposition of what phordicus said, I can't see a summoned creature as a mere tool of the caster but as an individual opponent. In PnP lore a summoned creature might not be tolerant to the summoner's will and be hostile. Especially if we are speaking of demons. When summoning, my enemy calls forth powers that might well be beyond their direct control and as such I consider summoned creatures unique and worthy of their own XP value.
  10. This is indeed a hard spell to balance. If most players agree such a short duration doesn't cripple its appeal I may be fine nerfing it. I thought that using a very slow progression (+1 round every 3 lvls) was enough to limit it, but I may be wrong, and I don't want it to overshine Mirror Image, I only want it to be a viable alternative instead of a useless Lesser MI. I'm not so convinced. A duration capped at 4 rounds would make this spell lose much of its attractivity. The current slow progress keeps it interesting even for higher level mages. I'd keep it as it is.
  11. I am for using the 2nd edition progression for HD higher than 9, if not other for the fact that charname and NPCs use 2nd edition progression for HP gain.
  12. Version 3.5 of this mod should be out soon. I have added russian translation (possible languages are now: english, french, german and russian) and corrected a couple of small typos. This is possibly the final update to this mod.
  13. I played with SR v3 quite some time ago so forgive me if I am writing wrong spell names or anything. I think the name of the spell is Farsight and it lets you click on one point of the fog-of-war to reveal the map. I did that. And the spell worked fine. But then, after having done it. I open the map, and on the top right corner, there is a button you can click to switch from local map to world map. Well, it is greyed out and no longer usable. I hope I am describing the issue well enough.
  14. My post of 2-3 days ago here disappeared so I write it again. After using the spell Farsight I could not go from area map to world map untill I reloaded the game.
  15. I would suggest to skip v3 as well and go for v3.1 which should be out this weeend! Sorry for replying so late but I just missed it...
  16. Since I am at it, I can use this topic to announce the imminent release of version 3, featuring the optional component "Stone of Recall".
  17. Hi there and thanks for your appreciation, benjamin. Sorry if I reply this late to your message but it slipped from my attention. Next time could you kindly report possible other bugs at Black Wyrm's Lair where the mod is hosted? Now, about your bug, it seems I can't reproduce the same issue on my install. The ring is recognized by the quest giver without any need of modifications. Could you please include your WeiDu log? Thanks!
  18. A real obscenity! For me, the stacking of this spell would be a reason to eliminate it altogether from the game.
  19. You're right. There's a limit to the amount of text for a spell description, but if it can be done I think I should do it. It's a good idea. And yes, not all the forms need to be equally powerful. If the new form is interesting and funny, people might want to have it anyway. The rebalancing is a noble goal but can't be taken too literally else we'd end up forgetting that this is a goal to tend to and not a mandatory requirement for which it's okay to sacrifice other important aspects of the game.
  20. I have sent for uploading version 2.0 (should be up at Blackwyrm's Lair in a matter of few days). The changes log: - Version 2: Major conceptual change Fixed a typo in .tp2 code Added BG2 compatibility Updated to WeiDU 210 Minor changes to readme file Enjoy!
  21. temujin_, thanks for reporting this! I will update it so that it will be compatible with WeiDU 209!
  22. Cursed Items Revision is out now! The Mod is hosted at BlackWyrm's Lair at this address: http://forums.blackwyrmlair.net/index.php?showtopic=4321
  23. It should be a matter of some days before a first public release. The MiniMod will be hosted at BlackWyrm Lair and will be available for (Easy)TuTu and BGT. It's been developed with BGT, which is the recommended platform, in mind.
  24. Hello people! Taimon has offered to take the matter in his capable hands and a release is not very far. Icendoan has first tried to understand something in Nythrun's code without much success so I thought about asking Taimon who is comfortable enough with Nythrun's code. By the way, thanks plainab for your kind offer. It's very much appreciated!
  25. Icendoan has offered to help but I don't know how much he can help with. For this Mod to be completed I'd really need Nythrun (the coder) to return because she and only she could give the best shot to it. Unfortunately I can't give you any ETA for this Mod because it does not depend on me any longer. This MiniMod is going to be compatible with all Mods that won't overwrite the original cursed items. I am not familiar with Hard Times but if it doesn't do that above, there won't be any issues. Keeping the thread spoiler-free is of course a must!
