Yaga-Shura weirdness

Hi David,

 

Been playing through ToB with SCS2 installed. Liked the improvements to the Fire Giant Temple :)

 

Some strangeness on encountering Yaga Shura in the siege camp, not sure if it is SCS2 generated or not. As soon as I enter the map, Yaga-Shura takes 1 damage, then goes into both his initial speech ("What a disappointment you created for me worm...." etc) plus his wounded speech ("What? No, no this cannot be, I am wounded" etc). I imagine the latter is triggering due to the 1 damage, but no idea why he is taking damage or why he is saying his initial speech whilst he is still offscreen (should be when he is in sight of the PC).

 

Another couple of things I've noticed while playing through:

 

-still seems to be an issue with dialogue triggers - eg. Garrick outside the Radiant Heart, the whole conversation won't start unless I actually talk to someone (rather than it triggering when I am in the area).

-think there might be a misfiring help script when playing for the Deck of Many Things - on one of my draws, a bunch of enemies warped in, which then seemed to turn all Aesgareth's henchmen hostile.

Well, unfortunately as happens 90% of the time (it has happened on 3 different computers) "Improved" (sic) Yaga Shura crashes my computer anyway. I can play for a few seconds before the game freezes, even on the lowest possible settings. I wish someone would sort this one out!

 

David, if I uninstall this component of Ascension but retain your SCS2 style Ai for Ascension enemies, it won't cause any problems will it?

-still seems to be an issue with dialogue triggers - eg. Garrick outside the Radiant Heart, the whole conversation won't start unless I actually talk to someone (rather than it triggering when I am in the area).

 

FWIW, I had the same issue. It was a while ago, and as said, was not limited to the Garrick/Lady Irlana/Cyrando trialogue(?). There was also a problem with the drow hunting the surfacer in the drow city. The drow hunter wouldn't move from his spawn point and there were some difficulties in initiating the dialogue.

I recall there being other problems, but no further specifics.

 

Unfortunately, I don't have the WeiDu log from that time, but I didn't have anything too exotic installed at the time (fixpack, tweakpack, Oversight, SCSII, Ascension and the Edwin romance). However, I imagine it does make this post less useful.

Hah, found it. The Lieutenant Thief has Darts in a Quiver slot rather than a Weapon slot, so when he tries to EquipRanged() (something that happens at random) the game crashes.

 

Here's a fixed version: dump it in your override directory after installing Ascension. Or wait till v5 of SCSII comes out and install the SCSII - Ascension component, which will fix it automatically.

Hah, found it.

 

Wow, great! I've only ever beaten improved Yaga Shura once due to the crashes (on Easy - perhaps it didn't crash because there were fewer spawns of the Lieutenant Thief or something).

 

Anyway, everything's uninstalled right now as I completed my run, but doubtless I'll get the BG2 bug again shortly and reinstall. Do you have an ETA for v5?
